Poplar is an Adobe Originals typeface designed by Barbara Lind in 1990 for the Adobe Wood Type series. Poplar, a Gothic condensed, was designed from photographs taken by Rob Roy Kelly of the one surviving copy of an 1830 William Leavenworth type specimen book. Leavenworth possessed unusual artistic abilities, and his treatment of the letterform counters as narrow slits made it the only wood type of its kind displayed during the nineteenth century. Frank H. Atkinson's book Atkinson Sign Painting was published in 1909. For decades, this book served as the manual for sign painters - a handbook for hand lettering. Atkinson’s book described techniques, layouts and several sample alphabets. Modernized Ideal Classic was inspired by one of these demonstration alphabets. Shicken Zoop JNL is based on an old lettering stencil from the early 1950s. The A-Z and a-z keystrokes contain the bulk of the Hebrew alphabet. Additional letters are found on the exclamation point, quote and apostrophe keystrokes. Vowels are positioned on the period, comma, hyphen, colon and semicolon. Please note that this is not a normal Hebrew font; it is in effect a latin font with Hebrew letters appearing in place of latin letters. It will not allow you to copy and paste with other samples of Hebrew text.

TELEPATH Telepath by Coniglio Type, first appeared in 1998. It is now in opentype .otf as of 2021. Telepath is a master sampling of a Royal office typewriter of industrial strength provided by the Miller Furniture store, of Dunkirk, New York. It had a baseline set of numbers to make accounting practices easy and line up nicely on the statements. (No gentile old fashioned numerical ascenders and descenders.) Yet, for a a rather old and stolid machine, it was very luxurious and built to definitely take the test of time. Cudo's for Royal Typewriter Company, is all I can say. The set of images were very carefully gathered and has fallen into the preferred category for a typewriter font that has it all. The font has exceptional value as a text font -and- a display font. Hal Taylor's ITC Outpost was not the result of a detailed design brief, nor was there a methodical development of key concepts or characters. Outpost just seemed to emerge all at once during a brief sketching session," says Taylor. "I guess what I was thinking of was an antiquated Western perception of some sort of Middle Eastern hand lettering - a 'mysterious East' sort of thing." New Age Gothic is an original design by Alex Kaczun. It is a contemporary gothic design based on generous proportions and clean crisp lines. Ideally suited for easy reading and long lines of copy. The concept for the design came from a previously successful font family Contax Pro. Alex felt that the skeleton for Contax Pro was ideally suited to modify the design into a true gothic companion typeface series. Numerous modifications where made to the body proportions, stems and shapes. Serifs where added reminiscent to Copperplate Gothic to solidify the overall design. The result is a truly unique modern gothic font. Unlike other typefaces, New Age Gothic incorporates uniform stems throughout the capitals, lower case and figures. This gives the design a uniform appearance in overall color and strength. There is a perfect visual balance between inter-letter spacing, stem weights and proportions. Janna is designed by Lebanese designer Nadine Chahine. It is based on the Kufi style but incorporates aspects of Ruqaa and Naskh in the letter form designs. Janna, which means heaven" in Arabic was first designed in 2004 as a signage face for the American University of Beirut. Linotype Mindline is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. With Mindline, the German designer Critzler plays with geometry and typefaces. Each character is basically a rectangle with a geometric form etched in it which happens to be a member of the alphabet. This formal style comes from the advertisement typefaces of the 1920s and is reminiscent of the constructivist posters of this time. The appearance of the characters take priority over the funcitonality and the eye can hardly recognize the forms of letters and numerals which meet it everyday. Linotype Mindline makes us take another look at forms which we see so often that we hardly notice them, only reading them for the information which they impart, and the font is therefore best used when the content of the text less important is than the impression its forms make.

Baltimore Type Foundry released its Antique Geometric series by 1883, including it that year on advance sheets for their 1886 Specimen Book, shortly after the firm was taken over by Charles J. Cary. We have chosen to call our version of the face “Baltimore Geometric” because we like the name better. The Central Type Foundry-Boston Type Foundry combine followed with a similar typeface in 1884, using an engraving machine to cut directly into matrices (Gray page 124). It was called simply “Geometric”. As noted in the write-up for HiH font Teutonia, a number of similar typeface designs have appeared over the years. The simplicity of concept is inviting and certainly fits nicely with some of the intellectual theories that developed in the early twentieth century, like the De Stijl and Constructivist movements. This font is useful in conveying an image that is logical and mechanical, implying a high degree of functionality.

Basic Commercial is a family of fonts based on historical designs from the hot metal type era. First appearing around 1900, these designs were created by type designers whose names have not been recorded, but whose skills cannot be overlooked. These typefaces were popular among groups and movements as diverse as the Bauhaus, Dadaism, and the masters of Swiss/International-Style typography. They influenced a variety of later grotesque fonts, such as Helvetica and Univers. Basic Commercial was distributed for many years in the United States under the name Standard Series.
