In searching for a Roman to use, I found there were bits of Bembo, Times, Garamond, etc., that I liked and bits that I did not. So I set out to take the best bits of all my favorite Romans and tried to create the ultimate Roman Typeface.

Hazel is the work of British designer Phill Grimshaw. It is an all capital typeface with friendly, scratchy strokes ornamented with a whimsical, free-flowing embellishment. Hazel should be set slightly wider than usual letter and word spacing and will lend any headline or display both naturalness and elegance.

Dalliance Script is based on the elegant handwriting found on a map of a horrific battle between the Habsburg Coalition and France which took place at Ostrach, in southwest Germany, in 1799. A roman style, and flourishes, were added to turn Dalliance into a fully functional typeface family.

Old Town No. 536 is a homage to the old woodtypes. These became especially popular through their use on wanted posters in Wild West films. Adrian Frutiger also designed his typeface Westside in this style. Due to its robust figures, Old Town No. 536 is particularly effective when used in headlines. It belongs stylistically to the Italienne typefaces, whose serifs are thicker than the strokes.

It's a very happy day when we stumble upon beautiful alphabets that were never digitized. It is even a happier day when the beautiful alphabet finds its way to us through friends and people who like our work. Some two months ago, the forms of this gorgeous font were pointed to us by a friend who saw it in an old Dover Publications specimen book showcasing historical alphabets. It was there under the name Vanessa, with nothing else to go by. We looked and researched for further information but found nothing else. So this gem comes to you like a coal that winked its way out of the ashes because it wanted to shine again. Flirt is very authentic art deco with a noticeable element of artistic pride, swashy delicate majuscules and very aristocratic, fashionable and flirty minuscules. The majuscules can be used as every other capitals usually are, or as initial caps. The minuscules can very nicely stand on their own quite independently from the caps whenever desired. These letters are quite similar to the hand lettering used on of the kind of theater posters, specifically burlesque and opera entertainment, which are now considered very retro-chic and fashionable to see hanging on walls in home or office. The initial specimen we worked from showed a single basic art deco alphabet with numerals which seemed as they belonged to another font. That alphabet became the base Flirt font, the numerals were redrawn to fit much better with the minuscules, and the character set was greatly expanded to include punctuation, accented characters, and many many alternates, especially for the majuscules. Majuscules with a descending right vertical stroke were a common artistic touch in the high days of theater posters, so we thought they would be great additions to the character set. These alternates can be found all over the font. So to maximize the design fun, have a character map or glyphs palette handy when you use Flirt. After the base font was finished, we thought it would be a good idea to give it a bold treatment unlike anything seen out there, and the farthest thing from the mechanical bolds seen everywhere now. This bolding treatment consisted of thickening the lowercase's vertical strokes inwards, but leaving the horizontal stroke weight as is, and thickening only the thicker vertical strokes of the uppercase. The result is quite the visual feat. We encourage you to test both the regular and bold weights and see for yourself.

The tale of Okiku Of The Nine Plates is an old Japanese story full of lust, deceit, murder and revenge. It tells of Okiku, a beautiful servant whose master lusts after her. After she refuses his amorous advances, he accuses her of stealing a costly plate and has her thrown down a well, where she dies. She then turns into an Onryō (a vengeful spirit). Okiku font is a thin, all caps, scratched typeface. Upper and lower case differ and can be interchanged. Okiku comes with an afterlife of diacritics.

Treves Sans is a scratchy, messy, hand written display font. It has the look of charcoal or a brass rubbing, reversed in lighter tones it looks like chalk. Neutral and universal are two words that could describe a kind of perfection. The search for neutrality and universality is part of history in type design; it was specially important in the so-called Swiss Style. Samplex is a typeface that joins this particular search. The design gets rid of unnecessary elements and stays away from style conflicts. The large and slightly condensed body of lowercase letters makes Samplex a good choice for long paragraphs, and especially appropriate for screen devices. Letters with a blocky appearance give shape to a text in perfect order, ideal for grid lovers and layouts with a strict structure. The design of Samplex is clean and efficient. The diagonal cuts are reserved to the italic letterforms, setting some distance between the solid upright characters and the dynamic oblique forms.

Making a Christmas card takes a lot of work! Finding the right typeface can be tough, too. Have you ever spent hours searching for the right one? Well, in 2003, instead of spending hours searching, German designer Guido Bittner made his own. Expectation was first used on the Christmas card for Bittner's Wiesbaden design studio. This delicate series of letters maintains a handwritten feel, in part because it began as a digitalization of Bittner’s own handwriting. Expectation Swash includes additional swash letters, which can be paired with regular version of Expectation to create superior effects. Perhaps it is already time for you to begin working on next year’s holiday cards. Let these fonts be the starting port for your inspiration! HU Suryeo is a new typeface of Heumm's calligraphy that takes the motif from carefully written calligraphy. It follows the calligraphic shape of Korean classics and can be used for titles and body text without distinction. The stroke thickness, strength, and degree of bending were set differently for each style. The thinner it is, the sharper it is, and the thicker it is, the blunt and round it is.

We've all seen the informational markings on commercial driveways or roadways instructing us which way to turn, where to park, etc. They are usually in stencil lettering 16 inches or taller, with compressed letters that make the horizontal strokes look slightly thicker than the vertical ones. By condensing the lettering in Narrow Stencil JNL by 20 percent, the result is Driveway Stencil JNL - a digital emulation of those painted road markings.
