The impetus behind Felbridge was both ambitious and highly practical: to develop an ideal online" typeface for use in web pages and electronic media. Robin Nicholas, the family's designer, explains, "I wanted a straightforward sans serif with strong, clear letterforms which would not degrade when viewed in low resolution environments." Not surprisingly, the design also performs exceptionally well in traditional print applications. In 2001, to achieve his goal, Nicholas adjusted the interior strokes of complex characters like the M and W to prevent on-screen pixel build-up and improve legibility. Characters with round strokes were drawn with squared proportions to take full advantage of screen real estate. In addition, small serifs were added to characters like the I, j and l to improve both legibility and readability. "The result," according to Nicholas, "is a typeface with a slightly humanist feel, economical in use and outstanding legibility - even at relatively small point sizes. Most sans serif typefaces have italics based on the simple "sloped Roman" principle, but italic forms for Felbridge have been drawn in the tradition of being visually lighter than their related Roman fonts, providing a strong contrast when the italic is used for emphasis in Roman text. I present Hatran as the last font of 2023. The Hatran script was used in what is now northern Iraq to write Hatran Aramaic, a Middle Aramaic dialect that was spoken in the region of Hatra and Assur in northeastern Mesopotamia from about the 3rd Century BC to the 3rd Century AD. Hatran Aramaic is also known as Aramaic of Hatra or Ashurian (Leššānā Assūrāyā \ ܠܫܢܐ ܐܣܘܪܝܐ), and first appeared in writing in 98 BC. The script is also known as the Hatran Aramaic script or Ashurian script. It appears mainly in texts found in the ruins of Hatra. There are also some texts in Hatran Aramaic from Assur and other places. It was discovered in 1912 by archaeologtists working in Hatra, which is near to the villages of Al-Hadar (الحضر) in the Nineveh Governorate (محافظة نينوى) of Iraq.

Inspiration for font design takes on many shapes and forms. It can be vintage source material, visualized concepts or simply suggestions made by others. In an email conversation with Kevin Redekop (the Principal Designer for FabArts Creative Fabricators in Canada) who had purchased a number of Jeff Levine Fonts, a sample sketch of a desired stencil font was provided. This set the wheels into motion for the drawing and production of Saskatoon Stencil JNL.

Diamond Jim JNL was inspired [in part] by an image of a 1970s Letraset® dry transfer typeface made entirely of small stars. By creating his own layout using tiny diamond shapes, Jeff Levine has produced a font that takes on multiple appearances. In 1999, Jeff Levine released a freeware font called "Channel Tuning JL" scanned from drawings made with a felt tip marker and designed as if the letters were breaking up due to poor reception such as on pre-digital TV sets. Over a decade later, Jeff has totally reworked the font—giving it cleaner lines, an extended character set and renaming it Channel Surfing JNL to set it apart from the roughly-drawn original.

Limoen means 'lemon' in Dutch. Why did I call this font Limoen? Well, I guess I ran out of meaningful names, so I had to work with whatever popped in my head - which happened to be Limoen. I wanted to combine a classical antiqua with corners and edges. I was convinced this combination would create a new, a fresh design of types. At the beginning I used the forms from "Goudy Old Style", later I modified the sizes, the widths of the letters, the x-height and their forms in general. At the moment the Easton Family consists of 3 styles called Easton Serif, Easton Semiserif and Easton Sans.

Mrs Green is a great typeface for short texts, invitations, headlines, logotypes and advertising. We’ve started with a heavy capital G and A. At the beginning it was supposed to be just one fat style (still our favorite). But after a few months we’ve ended up with a family of 20 styles. After creating the all-caps version of Supper Club JNL, a conversation between Jeff Levine and fellow font designer Ray Larabie brought forth the idea that one of Ray's freeware fonts had a lower case that would perfectly fit Jeff's design.
