Storefront is what the prolific and talented American sign painters of the 1920s and 1930s would have created if they had access to the advanced lettering and type technologies we have today. Rooted in an incomplete Alf Becker alphabet sample, Storefront is my usual overdose on alternates and swashes, my eternal attempt at giving typesetting that ever-elusive handmade impression. Though the main shapes, especially the majuscules, are almost a standard recitation of the natural evolution of nineteenth century scripts, the additional variants available within the font provide a leap in time to what sign makers and packagers are doing today. I can honestly say that Storefront’s influences are probably less historic and more in line with my recent travels and frequent supermarket visits. It’s difficult to avoid current visual culture when you're constantly bombarded with it. Not that I try. I certainly welcome the overflow. I'm probably addicted to it by now. Folkwang is an unusual roman type with a lowercase that resembles an upright italic. Unusual top serifs are contrasted by almost no foot serifs. Originally released by the Klingspor foundry in 1955, this face originated from Hermann Schardt while he was the director of the Folkwang Werkkunstschule in Essen Germany circa 1949. According to British book designer and printing historian John Dreyfus in the 1955 Penrose Annual: Folkwang “…is a lovingly made piece of work which could have easily have been little more than an act of awe-struck reverence for the calligraphic techniques rediscovered by Edward Johnston and spread abroad in Germany by Anna Simons. Of special interest is the serif treatment of the lower-case letters: at the feet the terminals are mostly left bare, but the ascenders and the cross-strokes of the f and t are given elaborate curving serifs which in the mass create an effect unusual in a page of letters made as movable types, resembling rather more a piece of intaglio engraving. The ligatures ch and ck are original and successful.”

This family was inspired by a small French "toy print" box, with rubber stamp characters, from the 1920s. The set contained only capital letters, no accented letters and limited punctuation. We have reconstituted a complete modern standard set. The doubling of each usual character in each style (A-Z/a-z and numerals) gives a rich and variously uneven appearance, looking like the results of the real use of those old rubber stamps. The bold style may be used as a reinforcement, mixed with Normal style without disadvantage, allowing four choices for each usual letter... The original size is 6mm (about 17 pts).

Dambera is a made up word I used as planet name in my first comic published in a kids magazine when I was 6 years old. Dambera font has pretty similar reference - it's a simple script font I initially designed for wedding invitations and restaurant menus, but it can have wide appliance in every design field, from posters, book covers, outdoor signes to labels and packages. It contains a set of stylistic ligatures and swash alternates, as well as a small set of floral dingbats. Also contains a set of characters with specific endings (in OpenType terminology, better known under FINA term).

This funny font was created inspired from a contract of sale for a field prepared by a French notary in the end of the year 1682 (December seventh). We have worked to transform the almost illegible original form into a contemporary usable typeface, but keeping the special "writhed" appearance. It is a "pro" font containing Western (including Celtic) Eastern and Central European, Icelandic, Baltic, and Turquish diacritics. The numerous OTF alternates and ligatures(about 5 different glyphs or ligatures for almost each basic lower case letter) made the font looking like a real various hand as closely as we can do it.

Ned Std. is part of a series of typographic experiments from the young Swiss designer Michael Parson. Using a wide, horizontal hexagonal grid, Parson created the system of letters that make up this font. Text set in Ned Regular takes on a modular, honeycomb-like appearance. Heartsome is a ‘forgotten’ word. It was mostly used in Scotland and it means: ‘giving cheer, spirit or courage’. I had never heard of it, but I thought it deserved a second chance, so I named this font Heartsome! Heartsome is a handmade Didone; I used a brand new bottle of Chinese ink and a brand new synthetic pencil to paint the glyphs. Brand new, because all of my drawing materials seem to have evaporated when we moved into our new house… A synthetic brush, because I don’t want animals to suffer because I feel the need to create fonts.
