Kartago was inspired by the inscriptions in the Roman ruins in the city of Cartago in Tunisia. Designed with plenty of uppercase ligatures for better design possibilities.

Bocksay Mira is a text font family inspired by the manuscript Mira Caligraphiae Monumenta created between 1561 and 1596 by Georg Bocskay and Joris Hoefnagel for the Holy Roman Emperor. All shapes were taken from the original records in both regular and italic style: lower case (p. 5, 72), uppercase (p. 47, 121), small caps (p. 122, 7). The high contrast forms and the wide spacing makes this family suitable for long texts but also for titling uses, having always that calligraphic and stylish look. Find the original script here

Fette Kanzlei is a beautiful mid-19th century blackletter font with a touch of calligraphy which has been brought back into life again. The long s can be reached by typing alt plus b or by activating the OT feature historical forms. This font also contains oldstyle numerals.

Based on the fin-de-siècle Helios Reklameschrift of the Klinkhardt foundry, Leipzig, Affiche preserves the beautiful art nouveau character of its hot-metal forerunner and was carefully extended to make it multilingual. Cal Uncial Rough is a calligraphic font based on sketches written with cane calligraphy pen and ink on coarse-textured paper. Because of the fact that the Uncial don't have lowercase letters, there are small capitals instead of the lowercase. As the Latin version of the Uncial was created from the Greek Uncial script (translating the Bible from Greek into Latin), in addition to the standard Latin graphemes, the font contains the Greek alphabet (and also the Cyrillic letters (Ustav), derived from the Greek Uncial too). Regardless of the stylistic connection, there is a difference between the morphology of related Greek, Latin and Cyrillic letters. Most of the graphemes are based on traditional roman and insular uncial calligraphy. Cal Uncial Rough is suitable for the preparation of calligraphic sketches as well as an application in typography that should bring us closer to historical topics (European literature, quotes, history, film ...).

This typeface was inspired by Gering and Remboldt's work during the late 1490s. Their printing concern, the Soleil d'or in Paris, was one of the printing business to engage in the use of blackletter printing, when the rest of the Parisian printers where using humanist influenced roman typefaces. This peculiar backwards trend was really one of the original examples of "retro", taking advantage of the desires of the more conservative northern Europe that had not yet embraced the newer roman types.

And now something completely different. Keks has broken elements like a blackletter typeface, but the actual forms are roman. That keeps it very legible although there is no curve at all. What was the inspiration for designing the font? Blackletter has an interesting history here in Germany. We need to find contemporary interpretations for this tradition. Decima Mono Pro is an upgrade of the well received Decima Mono typeface, released back in 2009 and quite successful ever since. This is a modern monospaced condensed sans serif family with classic geometric design, built in three weights and six styles. The letterforms in roman style are techno (engineered) in appearance, while italics remind one of elegant handwriting balanced with Roman geometry.\ The typeface is released in OpenType format with extended support for most Latin languages, as well as Greek and Cyrillic.

If you thought you heard someone callin' your name just now, you might have caught the firm but soft spoken tones of Comicraft's classy balloon lettering font, HushHush. Created in the style of the newspaper strips of the 30s and 40s, HushHush captures the slick movements of the skilled hand letterers of that era. Gracing the pages of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's chart-topping BATMAN storyline -- which by a staggering coincidence was also called "Hush" -- these characters have brought to life the words of Two Face, The Joker, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Batman and Robin -- from every whisper to every scream.

Armature Neue Sans is an extension of the original Armature Neue family released in 2010. Like Armature Neue, Armature Neue Sans consists of six weights with accompanying italics. Armature is one result of my interest in typefaces that are constructed, rather than drawn. Although it is basically a monoline design, there are subtle details throughout that compensate for a monoline’s evenness. As with all fontBoy fonts, there are dingbats hidden away in the dark recesses of the keyboard. When I first started designing this face in 1992, I called it Dino - I thought I would name all my fonts after famous pets, so the dingbats for Armature are dinosaurs. To access the alternate characters (closed counter B and R, and others) use Stylistic Set 1 or the glyphs palette in your OpenType-enabled application. At this time I found the Album of monograms – a guide for doing handicrafts in families and educational institutions. It was published in St. Petersburg in 18ХХ. Leo is an economic magazine and book face meant for use in sizes suitable for immersive reading, with different cuts optimized for different body copy size ranges, like footnotes and legal text. Designed with the explicit intent of relaying information without calling attention to itself, this typeface places itself squarely on the "function" side of the eternal debate about form versus content. The roman Leo fonts were built with as little ornamentation as possible, with wedge serifs, a high x-height and a skeleton somehwat rooted in the designers' reflections on the modern, post-war Dutch archetype. Rather than follow traditional models with entirely different forms, contracted widths and steep slants, the Leo italics deliver naturally subtle emphasis in reading by closely relating to the forms, stance and rhythm of their roman counterparts. Koch Antiqua is based on forms of old Roman writings, chiseled in marble thousands of years ago. This contemporary version is more playful and reminiscent of the Roaring 20s.

ITC Serif Gothic font is the joint effort of Herb Lubalin and Antonio DiSpigna. Its distinguishing feature is its uniquely designed serifs, combining gothic simplicity with traditional roman elegance.

Carl Schraubstadter of the Inland Type Foundry probably had more to do with the design of this italic than he did with the roman. Great for Craftsman Era projects.
