Makiritare is a display font for headlines that originates from a research work on pure geometry of great simplicity from a Venezuelan ethnicity artisanal form from men called Makiritare or Yecuana. These rivers sailors and architects of the jungle live in the village of Santa Maria de Erebato on the border with Brazil. Despite having a prodigious symbolism in their art, they didn't have until recently a font that is tailored to your expression. Bungehuis font was modeled on the lettering found on an Amsterdam art deco building from 1931. This building on the Spuistraat, also called "Het Bungehuis", used to house offices, but is now part of the University of Amsterdam. In 2015 it had its brief moment of fame, when students, demanding more democracy at the University, occupied it. Bungehuis is a heavy art deco font and would look great on posters and in headlines. It comes with a rather democratic range of diacritics.

On the very northern edge of South Tucson lies an Old Pueblo institution, Le Caves Bakery, Home of the Vegetable Donut. That’s what they were called when Le Caves opened; now you’d say Vegan Donut, or No Animal Products Used. Radical concept in the Brave New World of 1935. I started with the letters from their sign and extrapolated the rest of the font from those. Deco Donut Fat is extrapolated from Deco Donut. If you want a donut, type a 0 (zero).

My handwriting with a speedmarker turned into a font - well, not really, to be honest! Personally I did do all the writing of letters, but in order for the letters to fit perfectly together, I manipulated them - just a tad! But the result is a hasty set of letters! Regular Joe was first delivered to the font world by Ron and Joe. Yes, the same Ron and Joe of the ArtParts fame. A few years of being so regular, Regular Joe became, well, just bored. Hamilton is a tall, bold display font developed from hand lettering by Samuel Welo. It embodies elements of art nouveau poster lettering and turn-of-the-century advertising design. In the world of interior design, a Highboy is a tall chest of drawers with legs. Although this font is wide and bold, it seems ideal for storage. Highboy is best at large sizes, but can easily overwhelm other fonts of lighter weight.

The Wood-Regan Instruments Company (Wrico) of New Jersey manufactured for decades a line of lettering kits called the Wrico Sign Maker. With only special ink pens, plastic templates and a template guide anyone could letter clean, clear signs, posters and notices. Based on the same principles of architectural templates, the lettering was [for the most part] utilitarian and functional. Few templates were of stylized or decorative lettering. Informational Gothic JNL and its oblique version are based on the four inch high lettering templates from one of those kits.
