Clairveaux is based on samples of an ornate 12th century calligraphic style. It has some interesting features, including small caps which combine some characteristics of both traditional upper and lower cae character forms. OldHaroldRee is a modification of PhederFrack, a calligraphic fraktur face. British type designers Paul McNeil and Hamish Muir created this display FontFont in 2012. The family has 52 weights, ranging from 018 Thin to 144 Black and is ideally suited for logo, branding and creative industries, music and nightlife as well as poster and billboards. FF ThreeSix provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures. It comes with tabular lining and proportional lining figures. Goddard is based on some very unsual lettering by Art Nouveau period calligrapher Samuel Welo. It offers a full normal character set, plus mutliple alternate versions of every lower case character and selected upper case characters as well, plus very fancy over-and-under kerning to produce a really unique look, like nothing we've ever done before.

Baraquiel is based on an interesting style of calligraphic script we found in a turn-of-the-century magazine ad. It is much more acutely slanted than most scripts, and has pretty dramatic variations in weight. Nonetheless it has high readability and works well in combination with many of our text fonts, particularly Evadare and Albemarle.

Rhapsody is clearly showing Unger's love with Blackletters and Gothics. Other than many of the existing Blackletters, Rhapsody is really easy to read. The calligraphic forms of the upper case in connexion with its lower case appear very special, very unique. Rhapsody, having its origins in the 50ies, was redesigned, completed and expanded by Unger for the URW++ FontForum.

A friend bought me a Chinese calligraphic brush set in a beautifully decorated box. I started to letter the alphabet on parchment, in my own hand, using quick strokes and found the resulting script had an interesting energy to it.
