Orenji is the Japanese word for Orange: it is a phonetic translation of the English word. I was actually looking for a certain shade of orange (the color), when I stumbled upon this fun word. I already toyed with the idea of creating a font loosely based on my son Sam's handwriting and I figured Orenji would be a good name for it. Orenji is a fun, cute and extravagant font. It has some uniquely shaped glyphs, comes with a giggle and a hug and more diacritics than you can throw a banana at.

A meeting of Byzantine and Art Deco forms, Aphasia began as a series of handwritten captions to accompany drawings in the early 1990s. The dearJoe series of fonts had it’s origin somewhere around 1999, the year I created dearJoe 1, which was a first (and half-assed) attempt at converting my own handwriting into a working font. Being able to type in my own handwriting had always been a childhood fantasy, and even though I only partly understood the software, a working font was generated and I decided to put it on the internet for people to use. And that’s what they did: at this moment the dearJoe 1 font has been downloaded millions of times and can be found on just about anything, ranging from Vietnamese riksjas, a Tasmanian gym to a fancy chocolate store on 5th Avenue. The font is not something I am particularly proud of, but it started me of in building what later became the JOEBOB graphics font foundry. Inbetween creating other fonts, the dearJoe series has become a theme I revisit every once in a while, trying to create an update on how my handwriting evolved, along with my abilities in creating fonts that mimic actual handwriting. My »Cosma« has that special high-contrast Renaissance beauty but is very orderly in appearance. »Cosma« is a classical beauty with modern touches that make it unique. You will love this font. I really enjoy making brush fonts. I usually just get my Chinese ink and a bunch of brushes and start drawing glyphs. It took some time to get Studio Brush right, but I think spending that extra time paid off. Studio Brush is quite a neat brush font: the glyphs of this all caps font are of equal height (more or less) and complement each other perfectly. Studio Brush comes with double letter ligatures and some alternate glyphs.

It was originally inspired by my winter scarf knitting exploits. I discovered that making wool scarves was generating beautiful patterns and I wanted them to become a source of inspiration for a style. I made a few collages, and they became letters. Other characters came up with ease. It is readable, but long essays are not its main purpose. It is decorative and will look casual and very attractive on any ad as a title or a short phrase. It also demonstrates very good performance in automatic 3D generators, like Xara 3D maker, used in making examples of how this font can be utilised. It was designed to be thin, soft, with the capacity to cover empty space and to create a vibrant environment. Small characters are different from capital letters, they are stylistic alternates. Some letters are slightly ominous or dynamic, others create a soothing feeling. Using several colors make it shine, but it is complex, it looks good in monochromatic compositions as well.
