Cantebriggia 1207 is Greater Albion’s Christmas Black Letter typeface for 2017. It’s a weathered calligraphic ‘English’ perpendicular. There isn’t a specific significance to the year 1207 - it’s just a reversal of the current year, 2017. Why not try Cantebriggia 1207 in your seasonal design projects?

ITC Beesknees font is the work of David Farey. He credits a number of sources as inspirations for his work, including Pushpin Studio, Peter Max, Bob Zoell and the Marx Brothers, whose typographic titles he admired as much as their cinematic humor. He was going to name the font 'Horse Feathers' or 'Monkey Business' after Marx Brothers films, then the name got shortened to 'Business', which then got transformed to 'Beesknees'. ITC Beesknees font contains a capital and small caps alphabet.

This disarming beauty is based on a typeface named "Archer" from the 1905 specimen book from Barnhart Brothers & Spindler. The original was a rather light face; this beefed-up version highlights the face’s charming quirks quite nicely. Hans My Hedgehog is an old fairytale which was made famous by the Grimm Brothers, when they published it in the early 19th century. Fruehling, first released by the Klingspor Brothers foundry in 1914, is a rather calligraphic blackletter font designed by Rudolf Koch. This font was completely redrawn and redesigned for contemporary usage. The font comes with old-style figures, and the letters d, e, g, n, and t have swash variants. It is recommended to use also the OT feature Discretionary Ligatures.

Buntisland (we wonder where we came up with that name from... another subconscious whim), is Greater Albion Typefounders blackletter release for Christmas 2016. The family consists of four typefaces- regular, weathered, shaded and shadowed, and has it's origin in a design challenge which came up in conversation, as all the best ones do. In this case it was 'design a legible all capitals black letter...' Challenge accepted and completed!

The model for this monocase typeface was issued in the early 1900s by Barnhart Brothers & Spindler with the rather prosaic name of Steelplate. A hundred years later, it still retains its currency (ouch!), which is how it got its name. Complete Adobe character set except for superior numbers. The Opentype version of this font supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages, as well as Unicode 1252 (Latin) languages.

Thanks to the Quay Brothers, London, who provided me with original materials, I was able to revive Carl Otto Czeschka’s beautiful Czeschka Antiqua which was first released by Genzsch & Heyse in 1917. Since nowadays the word Antiqua rather refers to fonts with serifs, I dropped it, also because this fanciful font is a humanist sans. To get access to all ligatures, it is recommended to also activate the OT feature Discretionary Ligatures.

CTM Sans is a typeface of the grotesk category, it is designed based on a previous Herokid typeface, but with greater freedom to creative tastes and at the same time with more rebellion and errors (quite a few, but well-intentioned) than its predecessor. This makes Bellavista a somewhat messy clone, for the grotesk style. This font does not seek to be a correct typography, but rather fun and useful for the designer. I hope you like it

LOGX-30 is a geometric, all-caps, display typeface. As a brother of LOGX-10 and LOGX-20 , this is the most narrow version in a series of three related typefaces. LOGX-30 is designed, like other LOGX versions, for a wide range of graphic designs and visual identifications. I think that it works best in works with a technical, geometric style, and rather striving for minimalism. Both the normal and the italic version can be used together to compose graphics, photos, large and small text in an interesting way.

Reinstaedt is a fancy new display font family designed from scratch by Andreas Stötzner. The very first sketches were inspired during a holiday spent in remote Reinstädt of Thuringia (Germany). Though bearing a rather formal appearance Reinstaedt still shows its hand-drawn origin. Svengali Roman is loosely inspired by a scrap of 1920s newspaper posted in the Typophile font identification forum. The consensus view there favored the view that the specimen showed hand-drawn lettering. As that lettering had such charm and character Greater Albion decided to fill the gap and design a face loosely based on it. Svengali Roman is the result and makes an excellent face for eye catching period poster design, or for any headings and titles. Svengali Roman has now been expanded to a full family, including regular and bold weights as well as incised (a hand tooled look) and newsprint (weathered warn type with ink bleeds) styles.

Cullion is a new departure for Greater Albion, being a modern Fraktur, embodying future trends sch as highly stylised glyphs, a single case of lettering and highly evolved letterforms. At the same time it can trace its inspiration back to blackletter traditions, and is inspired by the sort of ironwork to be found in a medieval portcullis. The resulting typeface can sit happily in traditional, modern or futuristic design work. As the gallery images suggest, it does rather lend itself to work with a 'horror' theme, but it could have many other uses too-even in religious work. Cullion is particularly effective in poster headings.
