FF Neuwelt™, from Jens Gehlhaar, is open, inviting, highly legible, and strikingly handsome. A variation of ”Helvetica according to the blur principle.“ The underlying typeface is ”Helvetica“, the only true ”run-of-the-mill“ typeface of the twentieth century. The distortion principle used simulates the photographic effect of halation and/or overexposure. The light weight, »DeFonte Léger«, nearly breaks on the thin points, whereas on those points where the lines meet or cross, dark spots remain. The characters are ”nibbled at“ from the inner and outer brightness. On the normal and semibold typestyles, »DeFonte Normale« and »DeFonte Demi Gras«, the effect is limited almost exclusively to the end strokes and corners, which appears to be strongly rounded off. The bold version »DeFonte Gros« is especially attractive. As a result of ”overexposure“, counters (internal spaces) are closed in, while characters become blurred and turn into spots; new characteristic forms are created which are astoundingly legible. The fat version »DeFonte Gros« is particularly appealing. “Overexposure” leads to drifted counters, letters blur into spots; new characteristic forms emerge, which are surprisingly easy to read.

A modern black-letter, so to speak. Composed of a few basic elements with a wide-quill ductus. Faber Fraktur was based on the idea that it must be possible to create a modern black-letter type. The typeface is ”constructed“ according to the same principles as a script without serifs: as few varied basic forms as possible, omission of frills which make the type difficult to read and repetition of similar forms. The typical contrasting strokes of the original handwritten black-letter script are retained nonetheless. The elements of this typeface were even pre-formed with the quill. All characters are reduced to their basic skeleton. The fanciness and manifold ”breaks“ or fractures typical of black-letter typefaces are considerably reduced to just a few essentials. Faber Fraktur is a very legible type perfectly suitable for long texts. It does not appear nearly as foreign and archaic as the old black-letter fonts. The capital letters especially have a charm of their own radiating a kind of playfulness in spite of their severe form.

Bayside Tavern is a weathered version of our Tavern Alt font family. With its straight sides Bayside Tavern fits better in tight spaces and reads better at smaller point sizes than the regular Bay Tavern version. With three weights, open faced and outline versions to choose from you're sure to find the right style for your new project, restaurant menu, logo, t-shirt design or Pirate costume party. While our original Tavern Alt font has been increased to include five weights additional weights for Bay Tavern will have to wait for now, adding the notched cut in's were all done by hand which causes a lot of cramping so a long break is needed before creating the extra weights. The Fill fonts in the Bayside Tavern family are meant to be layered behind the Bayside Open fonts, if you're using Bayside Open select Bayside Fill, if you're using Bayside Open L select Bayside Fill L, if you're using Bayside Open S select Bayside Fill S and so on.

Many years ago, we bought a bunch of proofs that had apparently come from the defunct Van Loey-Nouri foundry in Belgium. Cognac was an incomplete alphabet among them, which we completed. Just a guess, but 1910 seems like a probable date for this art nouveau design.

My teacher used to say my writing looked like ‘hanenpoten’ (“rooster legs”). It is a Dutch expression for a scrawly script. When this script emerged, it had ‘scrawl’ written all over it! Scrawlerz is a messy script font with a lot of joie de vivre. Enjoy!

It is monospaced and organic. Two words that often not goes hand in hand, but in this case it does. You have 6 different versions of each letter to choose from, or just let the Contextual Alternates do the job by automatically cycles as you type.

KD Bombarda is a piano-key, stencil and display face that will make your projects stand out from the crowd by introducing some interesting letter shapes. Originally designed in 2013, it's now been edited to provide smoother curves with broader character and feature support including Cyrillic.

A movie poster for the 1952 Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis comedy “Sailor Beware” had the text rendered in a casual style of brush lettering similar to that found on store show cards. This inspired Show Card Brush JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Azarosa (a.sa.ˈɾo.sa) is a display font inspired by the work of the urban artist Arkano in Bogotá (Colombia). The orthogonal shapes of a continuos line adapt themselves pretty well to the architecture of the city, and the not common ductus of the letters gives a very attractive visual texture, which is always seen before read. Visually, Azarosa is related to the graffiti movement pichação in Brasil and with some nordic runes; this is why this visually "encrypted" font is not easy to read, ideal for underground purposes.

Cuivrerie is a free interpretation of relatively common lapidary inscriptions in Burgundy. Letters fit together. Thus the engraver gains room and we lose legibility. No matter, we have forever to read !

Cloverdale JNL is another addition to Jeff Levine's revivals of classic wood type fonts from the 1800s. Bold, broad and in the "cowboy" style, this typeface goes well with projects featuring the Old West, Victorian times or old-fashioned nostalgia.

Ginko is a capitals only display font with an obvious Asian influence. The characters are formed with short tapered strokes, reminiscent of those produced by a broad pen. An ideal face for signage, menus, advertising, wherever an Asian feel is required.
