In 1905 Berthold released an engraved blackletter font called Prinzess Kupferstichschrift. Based on an old printed remnant, I revived this beautiful open-face fraktur and enriched it with several OpenType features. As usual in my blackletter fonts, the round ‘s’ lies on the number sign key, and a traditional number sign can be accessed via the Discretionary Ligature feature and typing 'N-r-period'. In this font you have also the possibility to turn I, V, X, L, C, D, and M into Roman numerals by activating the Stylistic Alternates feature. And last but not least, various useful ligatures polish up this font.

Love Notes JNL is a total reworking of one of Jeff Levine's old freeware fonts. This revised version has an alphabet set jogged left and right in different upper and lower case variations. Playing around with the shift key will bring you the optimum results. On the left and right parenthesis keys are blank hearts logged left and right, and the corresponding fill fonts are on the bracket keys. (NOTE: You may have to do some manual adjustments, as the overlay placement can vary slightly in some programs.) There are numerals as well, and scattered around the keyboard are classic "message hearts" - just like in the boxes of candy. A backfill glyph for the numerals and message hearts is on the backslash key.

Vintage Price Tags JNL comprises three sets of numbers in both ribbon, circle and star patterns which, when combined will produce point-of-sale price elements. The designs were re-drawn from examples found in an old wood type catalog, and are now collected in digital format. Ribbon-style numbers are found on the upper case keys. A through J have the large numbers, K through T are the smaller, underlined numbers. The remaining upper case keys contain the dollar sign, cents sign and the phrases "each", "for", "dozen" and "pair". On the lower case, the circle set of combination numbers are on the following keystrokes: The keys a through j are the left side semi-circle numbers and the "k" key is a blank left side semi-circle. The l through u keys are the right side semicircle numbers and the "v" keystroke is a blank right side semi-circle. The star set is on the standard numbers keys for the left side of the star, with the right side characters on the corresponding shift keystrokes for the number keys. In following the original design examples, a cents sign follows the numbers on the right side of the circle or star sets. The lower case w through z contain a left side star blank, a left side star with $1, a right side star blank and a right side star with small double zeros (to comprise a star shaped price tag for $1.00).

The Regular typeface was researched with children and developed specially for use in children’s reading books - bridging the gap between reading and handwriting. Short ascenders and descenders may not trouble literate adults but it is quite a different matter for children struggling to read. Display Explicit is a display font not intended for text use. It was designed specifically for display, headline, logotype, branding, and similar applications. Tatline was intended to be a fun side project that developed into something cool and rather unprecedented. It's bold, it's chunky —and it just looks good whether it's a mock movie poster or a key element in a brand identity for a business. With serifs thicker than stems, it looks more down to earth, solid, reliable and firm. And yet there's an almost imperceptible playfulness in the way it looks and behaved on the screen and paper. Tatline would look great on posters and flyers. We've tried creating a coffee brand identity with it —and surprise, looks great again. Years ago, by happenstance, designers Nancy Mazzei and Brian Kelly found an old decrepit typewriter in an abandoned lot with tall grass in Brooklyn. They kept it around their apartment for two years. Then one day they decided that it was time to move and they planned to throw the old typewriter away. But it was so beautiful they wanted to keep at least a part of it. So they decided on keeping the keys. They kept the keys in a brown bag until one fine day the keys were introduced to a camera. It was a match made in heaven that resulted in some beautiful quirky images of typewriter keys. These images were the inspiration for Backspacer. They were scanned, traced and turned into a working typeface by Zuzana Licko.

Newsreel Caps JNL is a novelty caps-only outline letter with cast shadow set inside film frames. Although the design idea itself is not new, this version is based on lettering from a vintage piece of sheet music for a song featured in the movie "Fox Movietone Follies". The font is a wink and nod to Fox's long-running newsreel series called "Fox Movietone News". The upper case keys have black letters on a white frame, while the lower case keys have white letters on a black frame. A blank white frame is on the period key; a blank black frame is on the comma key. Use this font for individual initials, set the characters loose for effect or set them tight (as provided) for a continuous film strip.
