The Novera family is a sharp geometric sans in ten weights plus matching italics, available in two versions – Modern and Classic. No: Jethro Bodine didn't design this typeface although, to look at it, you might be tempted to think so. Rather, the pattern was a product of the fertile imagination of famed lettering artist Alf Becker. The lowercase letters are the same as the uppercase, but angled differently so, if you want a randomized appearance, you can activate Contextual Alternates and the font will do the shift-key double-clutching needed. Both versions include the complete Unicode Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets, with localization for Moldovan and Romanian.

The original sheet music for Ted (Is Everybody Happy?) Lewis’ signature tune, When My Baby Smiles at Me, inspired this whimsical wonder. The sheet music was discovered in the Library of Congress American Memory Collection, an incredible online resource. The typeface gets its name from a slightly loony early 1900s comic strip by Fontaine Fox. This new and improved version has beefed-up outlines, so it renders well even at smaller sizes. Both versions contain the complete Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Drawn shortly before Jim Rimmer's passing in 2010, Loxley was designed to be used in a fine press edition of the folklore story of Robin Hood. It was named after the cited birthplace of the story's classic hero. Loxley's shapes were inspired the same early Roman faces (such as Subiaco from the late 1400s) that influenced Frederick Goudy's Aries, Franciscan and Goudry Thirty types. It exhibits the preculiarities of Jim's left-handed calligraphy, as well as his outside-the-box thinking with exit strokes and serif variations. Loxley was remastered for the latest technologies in 2013. Now it comes with a character set of over 450 glyphs, including plenty of stylistic alternates, a full compliment of f-ligatures, a Th-ligature, basic fractions, ordinals, a long s for historic setting, comprehensive class-based kerning, and extended Latin language support. 20% of this font's revenues will be donated to the Canada Type Scholarship Fund, supporting higher typography education in Canada.

These two extra bold fonts are classic slab serif wood type styles with one detail of difference. Columbian is an extra bold Clarendon wood type that was manufactured by many of the wood type manufacturers in the late 19th century. "Clarendons" feature bracketed or rounded serif joins whereas "Antique" was a class of typefaces that features squared off slab serifs. Some type designs have only minor differences from others. The Columbian design is essentially identical to Wm. Page & Co.'s "Antique no. 4", with the difference being the bracketed serifs. In researching material for the digitization of Columbian, we started with a 15 line font identified as "Columbian" shown in the Angelica Press wood type portfolio (printed in 1976). This font is in fact "Page Antique no. 4". Comparing Antique #4 to Columbian specimens from Hamilton and other manufacturers confirms the only real difference is the serif treatments. Therefore, both fonts are presented as a pair. Each font features a full Western & Central European character set.

Lightbox 21 is a radical update of my previous version of a geometric sans serif. The design of the original Lightbox was fundamentally based on the idea of incorporating the proportions of the ‘Golden Ratio’ into each letterform; Lightbox 21 greatly improves on this concept by entirely abandoning it. The result is a much more readable, ‘natural’ typeface that retains elements of the original without being bound to it. Douglass Pen was inspired by the handwriting of Frederick Douglass, who was born an American slave but died a distinguished 19th century statesman, orator, and abolitionist leader. He also had fine penmanship. Douglass Pen is modeled chiefly after Douglass's handwritten account of John Brown's famous 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry, Virginia. It simulates his somewhat condensed cursive, dashed off in a swift, bold style. An ad in the April 19, 1919 edition of Motion Picture News for the (now lost) silent drama "Josselyn's Wife" featured some wonderfully stylized Art Nouveau hand lettering. Primarily a condensed character set with rounded serifs, there are a number of letters that take liberties in both width and character shape. Adding to this, [mostly vertical] parallel lines are cut through the characters to create a "striped' type of "double engraved' effect. Silent Drama JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. **Uppercase

A snappy single-stroke alphabet from The New Lone Pine ABC of Showcard and Ticketwriting, which Aussie author C. Milnes suggested should be executed with a well-loaded brush, provided the inspiration for this loose, lilting retro script. Its condensed letterforms and tight spacing allow for larger headlines than most brush scripts, and its bouncing baseline adds an extra dollop of visual fun. The PC Postscript, Truetype and Opentype versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Alf Becker graced many issues of “Signs of the Times” (a trade magazine for the sign industry) with his innovative hand lettered alphabets for others to use as design inspirations. His 134th submission was titled “Post Card Type”, a condensed thick-and-thin stylized Art Deco design. This served as the inspiration for Tourist Postcard JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Thanks to Tod Swormstedt of S.T. Media Group and the American Sign Museum for providing the work image for this type revival.

Silkocy is a beautifully MOdern Condensed uppercase and lowercase typeface that works best as a focal display text (think logos, headers, pretty quotes, calls to action, etc.). Inversi is a reverse-stress typeface that may be used as a display or text-face font for a wide range of subjects. Compared to other reverse-stress/reverse-contrast typefaces, Inversi's linear contrast is much lower which, at lower sizes, makes it a good options for text or captions. It has good language support, unique design, fractions, and three different widths. Inversi pairs well with HK Requisite. Use the narrow or condensed style when mixing with HK Requisite to give more contrast to the composition.

Mediator is a balanced contemporary sans serif typeface that performs well both in display sizes and body text. The family contains 30 fonts in 3 widths: 8 romans with matching italics, of slightly extended proportions, from Thin to Black; 7 narrow and 7 condensed, from Thin to ExtraBold. The character set in normal upright faces was expanded to include small caps and all faces include old style figures. The typeface was designed by Manvel Shmavonyan with the participation of Alexander Lubovenko and released by ParaType in 2016.

The 1960 British film “Beat Girl” (released in the U.S. as “Wild for Kicks”) was a typical [for its time] story of a teenage girl looking to have some fun by hanging out with SoHo beatniks and going against parental authority. One of the posters for the film features the title in a condensed slab serif stencil form, with eroded edges. The basic letter forms were smoothed out and cleaned up resulting in Jazz Beat Stencil JNL, which is available as in both regular and oblique versions.

Rambla Alt is a variation of Rambla, which has certain modifications without altering its main structure (Rambla is also available in Myfonts). For this reason Rambla Alt is great when used together with Rambla. Rambla Alt is a humanist sans for medium-long texts. It’s slightly condensed, with a generous x-height and short ascender/descenders. Its proportions have the objective of gaining space in height and width. It’s elegant in large sizes and legible at the same time, with a lot of rhythm in small sizes.

Alter Aves type is the first part of AlterType project – the serie of small display typefaces based on letterings, left-off types and altered foundry typefaces. Alter Aves is display condensed sans-serif typeface with couple of geometric-round letters, serif-styled elements and flat brush strokes. It supports Latin Extended-A (Western, Central Europe, Baltic, Turkish) and Cyrillic encoding languages and minimal opentype features – oldstyle digits, case sensitive punctuation, small-numeric forms and scripted fractions. Heavy Duty is a bold condensed sans serif font set. Heavy Duty Solid is crisp and clean while Heavy Duty Sketch suggests characters that could have been sketched with a pen or pencil.
