A bold sans serif with occasional rule-breaking vertical serifs on some characters was found within page examples from the book "100 Alphabets Publicitaires" ("100 Advertising Alphabets"). Although a few of those vertical serifs extended above the cap height in the hand lettering, they were made more uniform to keep a consistency in the digital version known as Peppermill JNL. A group of unique metal plates with stencil initials cut into them was spotted while browsing through online auctions for source material. What made these items even more interesting was how some of the stencil letters had been sectionally divided - not vertically or horizontally as in most stencils, but lines cut at angles. CA Mechano is quite what the name suggests – A mechanical typeface. Pretty straight forward and all-caps as long as you don’t activate the stylistic set "disorder". You will see what happens then: a lot of fun for the typographic eye. A more consumable distraction is offered by the other stylistic set. You will dis­cover peacefully rounded letters in the neighborhood of strictly mechanically constructed glyphs.

Arbotek has the original skeleton that the author used for the development of his typeface Arboria, a real 'architect typography', with a basic and radical approach to pure geometric forms. The three basic styles - Thin, Light and Light Rounded - try to approach the cartographic technique annotations and their output on plotters. The voluptuous style, Ultra, keeps the same structure of the Light versions, but develops as a historic Art Decó variant of this 20s and 30s graphic style.

Some words from the designer... West coast artist Teri Kahan developed a "design font" of 68 pictographs capturing the sentiments of relationship, connection and synchronicity. Many of the characters were created with phrases in mind like, "handing you the world on a platter", "howling at the moon", and "message in a bottle". Others represent life experiences. The clean, simple illustration style originates from the look of hand-carved rubber stamps, and lends itself beautifully to logos and graphics.

Rabenau (formerly Lucinde), the distinctly warm and legible type family For 30 years the graphic designer Axel Bertram worked at creating his typefaces: He developed complete new alphabets for magazines and typewriters as well as for the constant demand for typefaces for use by commercial artists. He has developed wall charts the size of advertising posters as teaching aids for training commercial and graphic artists to write in a clean, classic cursive script. In the eighties he used the American Chyron computer to design a screen font for television. In the mid-nineties he discovered for himself the fabulous possibilities offered by the Fontographer font software program and explored them playfully. From the results of these experiments, Axel Bertram selected a design for further development. From 2003 onwards the calligrapher and type designer Andreas Frohloff collaborated with him on the further development and production of the 16 fonts of the Rabenau™ typeface family.The Rabenau font was inspired by many factors: From the fonts used as book covers to typewriter fonts and even printed material from England dating from the beginning of the nineteenth century (e.g. those used by the skilled printer William Bulmer), Rabenau's relatively high contrast is offset by some organic tapers, subtley rounded bracketed serifs, and a fairly generous x-height. I was inspired to create the Rainier type family during my summer back home in the Pacific Northwest. The concept behind it may be simple - a hand crafted font family - but what it delivers is quite complex!
