Frutiger based the design for his Meridien on the 16th century characters of Jenson, saying: As I designed Meridien, I wanted to avoid stiffness in the forms - I thought they should have a more natural line and flow. A narrow sans serif, FUD Grotesk was inspired by brutalist architecture and modernist typography. There is a subtle stroke contrast, many inktraps, and even some microserifs (look for them in the main strokes!). A Febuary, 1932 issue of an Estonian woman’s magazine called “Eesti Naine” had its name hand lettered using a round nib lettering pen. A colorful floral book that I found at a flea market inspired me to make the font Herbarium. What started as floral letter illustrations in 2009 has now developed into a writable font. My main intention was to make each letter like a little artwork so that they all could fit as a drop cap. Herbarium is also a good choice for headlines.

Pelita is a sans serif family which is divided into 2 sub-families, Regular and Grande. Pelita is designed with a terminal that forms a curved angle on one side so as to give the impression of representing firmness and softness. The grande version is a modified version of the main version, but is designed more streamlined with curves and more extreme angles.
