Nimbus Sans ME is the expansion within the Nimbus Sans family for the Middle East range: Arabic (incl. Farsi) and Hebrew. Volker Schnebel has designed both scripts, which each include five upright and five cursive styles. The design is contemporary and fits the Latin Nimbus Sans. Besides the basis characters, the Arabic also includes the presentation forms: the variations for initial, medial and final letters. The correspondent OTF features are included in the fonts. There's a different number of points on the stars, or they're different sizes, and some appear to pass left-to-right, and some appear to pass the other way. Just type in ABCDEFGHIJK or abcdefghijk and you'll see. Two fonts have all the characters on the same level, (All-Black and Black+White). The Offset font has the 'sun/moon' with one slightly above the other and in black and white, and Half has them all-black. Partial has them even further separated in 2-tone. Benson Script is a script that is desperately trying to be anything but a script. With 3 contrast levels, and 2 styles, the six styles of Benson Script are an experiment in the diversity of a single stem width. Modernism’s desire to fit all elements within geometric constraints and adhere to strong verticals has spread throughout type design, but has had little to do with the frills and ornaments of script. Cutting a script down to its bare bones is an offensive idea to many—almost seeming insulting to its genre. Benson Script bridges that genre gap between frill and function. The Dragon Quill family is the 3rd reincarnation of earlier (yet to be released) dragon fonts. A simple 'Dragon Round' grew to become 'Dragon Flare', then evolved to become 'Dragon Quill'. Within the Dragon Quill family, 1 'Subtle Goth' is the most basic, followed by 2 'Goth' and 3 'Gothic'. 4 'Tribal Tattoo' is the most complex font in the family, adding hooks, spikes, holes and extra shapes around and between letters. Because of the complexity of level 4 'Tribal Tattoo', occasionally inserting letters into existing text may cause some unusual effects between the letters. If you find this distracting, a workaround can be to convert it into one of the other fonts (like Subtle Goth), while editing, then to turn it back into 'Tribal Tattoo' when finished.

AltraTwo is a complete redraw of a family based on a tracing of a clip art font from an old printed book. The AltraTwo family adds italic, black, and black italic. I liked the gentle calligraphic look. Consider it a sans serif with style. This is a typical NuevoDeco OpenType pro font with caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small cap figures, numerators, denominators, fractions, swashes, and so on. There aren't many unusal ligatures for this one, though. It does have the Latin 2 character set or what Adobe calls CE, Central European characters. Altra has been my preferred header face for sevral years. it also works very well for body copy. I usually use it for my contrasting tip and quote paragraphs with Bergsland Pro as my normal body copy.

Pompeijana is a part of the 1990 collection Type before Gutenberg 2’, which includes twelve contemporary typefaces each representative of a particular era. Pompeijana is Adrian Frutiger’s contribution to the project Type before Gutenberg’. He based the forms of this capital typeface on the writing of the Romans in Pompei. The decorative look of the alphabet is achieved by purely graphic means, placing the emphasis of the top and foot of the letters with heavy horizontals and diamond-shaped serifs. Frutiger completed his typeface with the weight Borders, a font consisting of numerous ornaments true to the style of the alphabet. The ornaments can be combined to form different borders and offer an optimal addition to the elegant Pompeijana. Pompeijana is best combined with modern sans serif typefaces.
