Liquorice Twist is a light-hearted fun font which developed from some hand drawn text designed to accompany and be integrated with some ‘Zen Doodling’ art that someone had drawn. It is very informal and unconventional, with the glyphs created using unusual and loose ‘rules’. The font has a set of stylistic alternates with equal height lower-case letters. It also has the option of alternate initial capitals and alternate ending lower case letters accessible via contextual alternates. Neue Haas Unica by Toshi Omagari: The original purpose behind the creation of the typeface Haas Unica was to provide a sympathetic update of Helvetica. But now the font designer Toshi Omagari has decided to make this typeface his own and has thus significantly supplemented and extended it. In the late 1970s, at the same time at which hot metal typesetting was being replaced by phototypesetting, the Haas Type Foundry commissioned a group of specialists known as "Team '77" consists of Andre Gurtler, Christian Mengelt and Erich Gschwind to adapt Max Miedinger's font The characters of Haas Unica are somewhat narrower than those of Helvetica so that the larger bowls, such as those of the "b" and "d", appear more delicate and have a slightly more pleasing effect. In general, the spacing of Haas Unica was increased to provide for improved kerning and thus enhance the legibility of the typeface in smaller point sizes. Major changes were made to the lowercase "a", in that the curve of the upper bowl became rounder and its spur was eliminated. The form of the "k" was additionally modified to remove the offset leg so that both diagonals originate from the main stem. The outstroke of the uppercase "J" was also significantly curtailed. In addition to many minor alterations, such as to the length of the horizontal bars of the "E", "F" and "G" and to the angle of the tail of the "Q", the leg of the "R" was extended and made more diagonal. In the case of the numerals, the upper curve of the "2" was reduced and the lower loops of the "5" and "6" were correspondingly adapted. The sweep of the diagonal of the "7" was also reduced. Several decades later, Toshi Omagari returned to the original sketches with the objective of reinvigorating this almost totally forgotten typeface. First, however, he needed to revise the drafts prepared by Team '77 to adapt them for digital typesetting. So Omagari carefully adjusted the proportions of the glyphs, achieving a more uniform overall effect across all line weights and removed details that had become redundant for contemporary typefaces. It was also apparent from the old drafts that it had been the case that the original plan was to create more than the four weights that were published. Omagari has added five additional styles, giving his Neue Haas Unica? a total of nine weights, from Ultra Light to Extra Black. He has also greatly extended the range of glyphs. Providing as it does typographic support for Central and European languages, Greek and Cyrillic texts, Neue Haas Unica is now ready to be used for major international projects. In addition, it has been supplied with small caps and various sets of numerals. With its resolute clarity and excellent typographic support, Neue Haas Unica is suitable for use in a wide range of new contexts. The light and elegant characters can be employed in the large point sizes to create, for example, titling and logos while the very bold styles come into their own where the typography needs to be powerful and expressive. The medium weights can be used anywhere, for setting block text and headlines.

Starts from the study of the great Futurist adventure of the early 1900s by great artists such as DEPERO and MARINETTI, who twisted the world of typography with shapes and colors. The universe always made me curious as to what could be found beyond earth. For the past few weeks, I’ve been staring outside my bedroom window looking at the same star. Every day at one in the morning, it shone beautifully in the cloudless night sky as I face West. That same star paved way for some inspiration to create a futuristic typeface. Every day, I watch it before it disappears into the oblivion.

And the day in which I introduce my second typographic family has arrived. In order to do this, I borrowed several passages from this beautiful book by Maurice Maeterlinck, “Life and Flowers”. His poetic observation of Nature made me reflect about the small discoveries behind the flow of my pen on paper. About that quick, spontaneous, overwhelmed stroke, with some awkwardness as well as certainty in it. About the writing that looms line after line. About the mischievous stains of ink flooding my writing tool. Lady Dodó was born as a product of these drawings, pieces of writing and reflections. Following the steps of its ancestor and friend, Lady René, it takes advantage of the goodness of the Open Type technology to propose a systematized as well as a personalized writing font. Both friendly and challenging. Due to the large number of alternate characters (both for lower and upper case as well as for numbers) and to its precise programming, it proposes to design diverse and rich typographical sets with multiple strokes in a simple way. However, Lady Dodó is not just made of typographical signs; it also proposes a set of modules to make patterns and another one to design frames. Back in 2011, Gelato Script was the best-selling brush script font on MyFonts, and has remained popular, appearing on everything from designer handbags to primetime TV shows; from food blogs to wedding invitations; from glossy magazines to (not so imaginatively!) ice cream shops. All these years on, and it struck me that there is much that could be improved on; there are certain glyphs that never quite felt right. So I decided to update Gelato Script, and this is the result, Gelato Luxe. What started as a simple update quickly spiralled into a total overhaul. There is not a single glyph in the new version that’s the same. The entire font has been tweaked and tinkered with and redrawn and respaced and rekerned to get it to this point. While I wanted to maintain the feel of Gelato Script, Gelato Luxe represents a massive leap in sophistication, with new alternates for smoother connections, and a totally new OpenType engine, with no fewer than seventeen stylistic sets. Any typeface has two intrinsic elements that does´t work at the same levels, form and appearance. These peculiar visual behavior generate a wide range of graphics games. At reading level, we observe a uniform gray spot, but large bodies allows us to appreciate their shapes and counterforms. Milio takes this duality to offer unparalleled service in newsprint and magazine publishing, specially in small bodies but hard and formal cogency in titling. Its wide variety of weights, 10 in total, together with a slight condensation allows us to save space without losing legibility, even under poor printing conditions. Its basic quasi humanistic forms include support for a wide range of details that give great originality and strength. A friendly appearance, but a strong, all-road typeface with internal forms that reinforced visibility in small sizes thanks to its high average eye and the contrast that generates its soft curved external and internal squared angles. The nuances here are fundamental and explain its powerful large sizes, where you can see these contrasts between the curved, organic, humanistic, and straight, angled, almost mechanical shapes. As you can see, Nefertiti is a font based on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and could be classified as a fun-font. I've always been really interested in Egyptology and a couple of years ago I thought it would be great to be able to write in hieroglyphs. I started to study them but soon realized it would take me a long time to be able to do this. Still, I was determined to find a way around this problem. At some point I came up with the idea of rearranging and reforming the hieroglyphs so as to resemble the English alphabet. During this process I tried as much as possible to preserve their ethos and appearance. However, since they are designed to write in English with, it's obvious that they are not always going to look like the real thing. Despite this, I'm really happy with the final result and I think many Pharaohphiles who just want to have some fun will be also. The only difference in this font between lower and upper case characters, is that the latter are set between two parallel, horizontal lines. These are for use with brackets (motif ends) to form cartouches - elongated ovals for names and/or titles. Try typing the following using the upper case in the sample text box. e.g. (JOHN} The zigzagged vertical lines at each end, separate the motifs from the hieroglyphs. Note the three types of ends/brackets. These lines are also used to separated words from one another and to give a more authentic appearance. So pressing the space bar gives a zigzagged line - not a space. They can also be used at any point within a cartouche to separate first and last names or titles. e.g. ; (JOHN;BROWN} walked straight home after work. Notice the eye glyph (period/full stop) at the end of the sentence. This is the only punctuation mark which can be used within a cartouche, e.g. after Mr. or to add a more Egyptian appearance to a name or title. e.g. (MR>;JOHN;BROWN} Parallel lines dividing hieroglyphical inscriptions and writing into rows or columns are very common. To incorporate these in a body of text, simple use the underline U. e.g. (OSIRUS) and {ISIS} were important gods of the ancient Egyptians. (HORUS) {HATHOR} and [RA],the sun god, were also highly revered deities. The punctuation marks available are shown below. . , " " ' ! ? "where is the king?" The font also includes the numbers 0-9, the following mathematical symbols and the hash sign(Scarab beetle). Once again, I've tried to make them look as Egyptian as possible; whether I've succeeded or not is open to debate. e.g. + - x / = # This font is named after Akhenaten's beautiful wife, Nefertiti, who's image can be seen in the graphic on this page.

Ernie is a new animated typeface by Jim Ford, intended as a complimentary serif design to Freeman Craw’s fun retro hit, Ad Lib. The serif drawings mimic the behaviors of Ad Lib, on a Clarendon-esque structure. The application of Ad Lib’s behaviors to a serif design highlights it's quirky characteristics; notably in the added contrast, the bending of serifs and the translation to Ernie’s ball terminals. The lowercase g is probably the most extreme example of this "translation." Ernie has a savvy system of text animation built in; with dualing lowercase alphabets, 34 ligatures, and an extensive glossary of custom words, all programmed to automatically make intelligent pseudorandom wordshapes. It's called RMS, aka the Randomagic System. The glossary of “buzz” words is based on the most common and powerful words in marketing and advertising, as well as words that are specific to Ernie’s intended uses.. Additionally, Ernie Alt provides the opposite randomization effects in lowercase text, thus reversing the rhythm of the bounce. Talking about the numerous types that today bear the name of Giambattista Bodoni are a kind of tribute as much to his reputation as a printer as to his ability as designer and engraver. In fact, all of them tent to be more in the way or style of Bodoni than simply copy of his letterforms. Like many other type designers, we’ve been seduced also to develop our own point of view of his work, nowadays enriched by some features of OpenType format that allows a variety of combinations: standard ligatures, discretional ligatures, stylistic alternates and old styles figures. Whereas the Bodoni serif in the capitals was of the same weight as the thin stroke but joined with a very slight fillet (Bracket) and the lowercase serif were like his French rivals, the Didots, featured straight- edged serifs that were unbracketed. The ascenders and descenders of this new Bodoni are shorter, giving in this way, more space for enlarge x high. The Waldorfschrift family was created in digital form in the years 1993-1994 by Joachim Frank, inspired by the naturally organic letters from the anthroposophical movement of the 20th century of Rudolf Steiner . In nature there are no right angles, straight lines or complete uniformity, but instead round corners, varying thicknesses and all kinds of variability. This is what the anthroposophical movement created in their buildings, their art, in their music – and also in their lettering. And this Font is like the plants in nature: it grows upwards, branches out, letters hugs to some letters, with others they keeps more distance, some letters proudly stretch their belly, others crouch in the corner - a completely natural font. Take a look at the brand of Weleda (the natural cosmetics company), Demeter (one of the biggest organic foods companies), Filderklinik (a great anthroposophical hospital in Germany) and you will see these great companies work with different but organic letter styles. More recently, Joachim revisited the Waldorf fonts with modern type design software and added extra characters such as the euro sign, and extra weights to make the fonts useable for a wide variety of design tasks. Cabo Soft is the 2.0 version of our original Cabo Rounded Typeface, created back in 2015. With this new version, Cabo Soft, we have brought multiple upgrades and updates compared with the original version. Some of those consist in the addition of more glyphs and accents, alternate designs for many of the glyphs (including an alternate for @, #, some of the numbers and more), and most importantly, we have done a slight update in the design of the letters, which we'll give more details in the following paragraphs. The main style and thought behind our Cabo fonts has always been the rounded corners and the soft and welcoming vibe that it gives. It's friendly and familiar, but also modern and slightly elegant, especially the Thin and Light styles. With Cabo Soft we have worked on adding an extra touch to the design of the letters by working on the termination edges of each letter. If Cabo Rounded had an exact round termination for each letter, with Cabo Soft we have developed a unique non-equally rounded shape that is applied to all types of terminations for each letter. This new design approach makes it have a more clean style, a more modern and unique look, but it also gives stylish, exclusivist and elegant vibes, while still being friendly and familiar. Thanks to it's variety in weights and styles, you can use Cabo Soft in almost any design project. It works well with headlines and paragraphs, it's a perfect match for logo design and branding, but can also do wonders in videos, signage and many other elements.
