Storefront is what the prolific and talented American sign painters of the 1920s and 1930s would have created if they had access to the advanced lettering and type technologies we have today. Rooted in an incomplete Alf Becker alphabet sample, Storefront is my usual overdose on alternates and swashes, my eternal attempt at giving typesetting that ever-elusive handmade impression. Though the main shapes, especially the majuscules, are almost a standard recitation of the natural evolution of nineteenth century scripts, the additional variants available within the font provide a leap in time to what sign makers and packagers are doing today. I can honestly say that Storefront’s influences are probably less historic and more in line with my recent travels and frequent supermarket visits. It’s difficult to avoid current visual culture when you're constantly bombarded with it. Not that I try. I certainly welcome the overflow. I'm probably addicted to it by now. Chancery Lane is a condensed cursive with a breezy, flowing feel. Many of the lowercase characters join up, some uppercase ones too, and the two fonts are slantier than many other chancery-inspired faces, inclined at almost 20°. Each glyph has slightly rounded corners to bestow softness and warmth. The typeface emerged from a study of pen lettering, italic scripts and chancery hands – down a rabbit hole and along the Chancery Lane. The research ranged from early cancellaresca manuscripts to contemporary fonts, and also calligraphic work, most notably that of Indian artist Mayank Baranwal whose lowercase letters inspired many of the Chancery Lane glyphs. GummiType is a wildly wobbly and clumsy gummy/jelly style letter font. This was a weird typeface that I originally designed back in 2000 but never finished it. Coming across it again recently, I thought it would be a fun font family to get out there. Perfect for a range of designs that require a spooky or gooey-gooey typestyle. Sometimes the inspiration for my typefaces comes from random everyday things, and this is the perfect example of that. My daughter is addicted to those little peach gummy rings and gummy worms, and gummy anything, but it was my own prior addiction to gummy peach rings that inspired this font. Pulling and distorting the ring sparked the inspiration for the droopy warped characters.

Monogramma is a set of 676 beautiful and unique Monograms plus some doubles. There is one monogram for each possible letter-combination! For easy use I packed the monograms in 13 packets. One for two starting letter each. So if for example you look for the monogram "GW", you must choose the packet "Monogramma-GH" -- the G-combinations under the uppercase letters. You now have to type a capital "W" and Bingo you have the combination GW! Some letter-combinations have doubles, just check the numbers 0 to 9 if there is anything to be found. The Neustadt font family was originally designed as a corporate font for Sport 2000, one of the leading buying groups in the European Sport Retail Industry. Each of these sub-families contains up to three font weights. When the font is used in OpenType-savvy applications, the 3 variants of glyphs are automatically alternated to achieve a random-like effect. When not using the Contextual Alternates feature, you can still pick the alternates in the Glyphs palette or use the alternates available from the keyboard upper and lower case. Bellfort Draw Script is a handwritten, fully connected script with ligatures and contextual alternates to help with flow and readability. Language support includes Western, Central and Eastern European character sets, as well as Baltic and Turkish languages.

Thus, the development was long and complex with Cahuenga not prescribing to a single distinctive model as a foundation. Exploration around formal traits was influenced as much by aesthetics as they were by desired functional outcomes. Cahuenga organically holds a tone and pitch that is sincere. The name is emblematic of many who drive through the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. As in many parts, the driving route is convoluted from point A to point B. However, it seems more often than not, that when in the Hollywood area, one usually ends up on Cahuenga Boulevard at some point.

Since the beginning, “Histories” has been inspired by the shape of the letters displayed on the cover of fairy tale books or animated film covers.
