Einhorn is a peculiar typeface. Difficult to classify, this upright, bold, script-like semi serif typeface was designed in 1980 by Alan Meeks. Meeks was inspired by the art nouveau period, and may have been trying to liven up the design scene. In 1980, typefaces like Helvetica and Univers were ubiquitous, and the digital revolution was still years away. Experimental faces like Einhorn helped fill the gap for creative designers looking for untraditional choices in which to set headlines and advertising work. The merit of pioneer display faces like Einhorn have never lessened; Einhorn still sets a mean display text, and works great in logos and other corporate ID solutions.

Punkaholic started out as a loopy, all caps display font with a semi condensed feel. Before completion some of the letters such as A and W were given a more traditional look and were penciled in for alternates. In the end, however, they were added as uppercase characters instead. For this reason most words in lowercase vary in appearance from their uppercase counterparts. This dichotomy between straight lined capitals and rounded ones makes for some interesting contrasts. Punkaholic works best in less formal settings such as café menus, t-shirts, or children’s publications. It comes in 3 styles and contains Latin, extended Latin, punctuation, and kerning.

This font was originally designed side by side with my first attempt at a semi serif typeface in 1997. The design made it through to full development only a couple years ago when our studio decided to complete the regular weight for a local project here in Bangkok. The face is a traditional serif with narrow stem (somewhat like sans serif) and industrial stroke. A good mix of Bangkok character where you can find Wat (old buddhist temple) next to futuristic high rise. This font was shown in Klingspor-Museum Offenbach, Germany, at a Typographic & Type Design exhibition Schrift in Form 3-26 September 2008.

Laca is a semi-sans serif inspired by retro Portuguese packaging of soaps. Laca is the Portuguese word for hairspray. The starting point was to design a typeface that would bring a familiar feeling of closeness and warmth but giving it a modern look ensuring it works well on modern platforms. It’s a lively typeface that brings texture and personality to the text. Perfect for branding and for all communications. There is an upright italic version available through the stylistic set that brings even more friendliness to the font. The result is a versatile typeface that has many OpenType features that brings stylistic alternates to the designer.

Work on Scene began some time after designer Sebastian Lester joined Monotype Imaging in 2000. Clean, calm, and highly legible — thus the design brief Lester set for himself. With Scene, he wanted to provide graphic designers and creative directors with a suite of fonts that would serve as a strong foundation for identity projects, incorporating what he had learned about on-screen and print legibility. Scene was developed during two years of after-hours and weekend work. The family comes in six weights with matching italics, there is a set of “semi-sans” characters to introduce more expressive word rhythms into headlines and blocks of copy.

Nauman Neue is a modern humanist sans serif typeface made for the screen. Broad open letter forms are combined with precise geometry to create a functional and legible font that’s ideal for web and on-screen applications. In 2021 Nauman was expanded to sixty styles, including two helpful widths condensed and semi-condensed. Included in the font are 900 characters per style, ten weights and three widths with matching italics. Opentype features consist of seven numerals variations, including inferiors, superiors, fractions, tabular, lining, and old style. It also has alternate lowercase a, e, I, M, small caps, arrows and language support covering Western, South, Central Europe and Vietnamese.

Ecliptica is an extended family of five very condensed typefaces in a single bold weight. The creation of Australian designer Robert Bell. Ecliptica has a Sans, a Semi-Serif, a Serif and a single Cursive that can be used with any of the other three styles. As an added bonus, Robert also designed a modern Blackletter companion. The Ecliptica family is an unusual layout of styles and all work equally well with one another. The OpenType versions of the Ecliptica fonts support an extended Latin character set that includes a full array of fractions as well as additional ligatures. The Sans and Cursive fonts contain some cap and lowercase alternates.

Pressroom is a modern "legibility face," designed to be easy-to-read under even the harshest conditions. As you might expect of such a typeface, it's got an ample x-height, robust serifs, and minimalist descenders -- but Pressroom displays more grace and allure than most families of this kind. (Its designer nonetheless describes Pressroom as having "the sophistication of a crocodile.") Pressroom has regular, italic, and bold italic styles, along with a special black weight intended for headlines, callouts, and other display uses. Numerals are semi-cap in all but the black, where they are fully lining. Would work well in newsletters, flyers, office forms, or even periodicals.

The four weight semi-condensed Bartholemé family came into existence as a family expansion based on the designer's earlier concept, Bartholemé Open. This hybrid family was inspired by and loosely based on a number of contemporary mid-twentieth century type concepts having Old Face or Modern influence. Those inspirational type designs were primarily designed for various proprietary photolettering technologies of the time. The award-winning* Bartholemé Open and its companion design Bartholemé small capital open were inspired by various Shaded, Inline and Handtooled type models from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Most of those inspirational type designs were designed as titling fonts with all capital sets only. To set it apart from the earlier models, Bartholemé Open is semi-condensed intentionally designed with a lowercase. Design qualities include a large x- height, tightly curved ample counters, crisp serifs and tight bracketing. The overall plan of the family was originally intended for display usage in titling and short passages of text. At higher output resolutions all fonts read well at smaller point sizes. The Bartholemé family works well on its own, but also is compatible with type styles possessing qualities that complement or enhance its own. The Bartholemé family consists of a Regular weight complementing a Bold weight, along with Medium complementing an Extra Bold weight. The typeface Brush Poster Grotesk is designed in 2017 for the children exhibition 1,2,3 Kultummel from Labyrinth Kindermuseum Berlin by xplicit, Berlin (Annette Wüsthoff, Alexander Branczyk, Mascha Wansart (illustrations)). Manuel Viergutz extended the font with some further glyphs & extras. The rough sans serif display typeface is created analogous by hand and brush. 875 glyphs incl. 150+ decorative extras like arrows, dingbats, emojis, symbols, geometric shapes, catchwords, decorative ligatures (type the word LOVE for or SMILE for as OpenType-Feature dlig) and stylistic alternates (3+ stylistic sets). Mi negra is a funny and hilarious typography designed especially for children, thought and created by Isabel de Gregorio. It could be described as an original combination between a semi-handwright and semi sans-serif font. Thanks to its structure and nice endings "Mi Negra" is recommended for composing short texts (logotypes, packing, posters, etc.). It may similarly be used for illustrations and comics, as well as in printing press works for children from 6 to 13 years old for instance. Mi Negra has been conceived to be a useful support in all kinds of illustrations works (please note that Isabel, the type designer, considers herself primarily an illustrator). The font designer of Mi Negra tells that every time she needed to provide some text data (i.e. in children infographies) and needed to make them more understandable and suitable for children, she used this typography. The former idea was than to create a font who could be a second option to comic sans, but as the project started to reveal its forms, it was clear that it was revealing another connotation and its own character. In this way, Mi Negra went on modifying its forms and the more it developed, the more it was showing its new characteristics and concepts. The family is composed of three weighs: Light, regular and black. It provides also interesting functional ligatures. It also includes a dingbat with nice doggies. It has 434 characters and can work with 208 languages.
