Filo Pro is a very beautiful and highly legible typeface family as regular, medium and bold. It is a quite characteristic, modern interpretation of the humanistic serif. The serifs of Filo Pro are not too dominant, and its forms are soft and organic. The font family renders extremely well in text sizes but can equally well be used for headlines. The OpenType Pro family of Filo Pro comes with an extended Latin character set including a large number of beautiful ligatures as well as small caps and different sets of figures. Filo Pro has been chosen to be part of the URW++ SelecType.

The late 70s and early 80s is sometimes considered to be the period when headline typography went off the rails. Growing up in that period, some designers may beg to differ. Many geometric designs were available in dry-transfer and for the typositor, and were used everywhere a youth-culture look was appropriate - annuals, comics, club flyers, high-street boutiques, TV-advertised compila tion albums. Nightclubber is a fond homage to the excesses of the period, and should be used back-lit in pink neon or at a rakish 45 degree slant across a blurred photograph of a glitter ball.

Classic XtraRound is a companion typeface to Classic Round, designed by Ben Blom. Although Classic Round has a lot of roundness, Classic XtraRound has more. Classic XtraRound has maximum roundness — no sharp corners, anywhere. Classic XtraRound has maximum roundness — and is still legible. It can be used as an interesting workhorse in small text sizes. It makes eye-catching headlines in big display sizes. Nightshade was my attempt to bring the Old English fonts up to date. The capital letters still contain flourishes, but they look more machined and less calligraphic. I called the font Nightshade after the plant of the same name. Like the plant, it may be considered to be beautiful or poisonous depending on one's outlook. As a result, it can be applied when an attractive, ornate look is required, or it can be used when there is a need to create a more chilling effect. Everybody likes to have a picnic: some fresh fruits, cheese, ham, wine and so on. Like a “typographic picnic,” Typnic font system gathers many fonts with different flavors too, and you can enjoy them mixed or on their own. Typnic was drawn and calligraphed by hand and is made with eighteen typefaces, including three totally compatible yet different styles. It also has enhancement sets containing labels, dingbats, patterns and ornaments. Ablati is the commercial release of the font designed during the production of our new font design book, “Practical Font Design”. It is a new serif font in my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. In many ways, Ablati is a very different direction for me. Designed to produce gaphics to use in the font design book, I was forced to really reconsider many of my working methods to make them work for outside readership. Like all designers, my internal design processes can get really sloppy. The book helped me clean up my act. Taking my inspiration from one of my favorite fonts of all time {though I've never really been able to use it much}, Romic, by Colin at Letraset, I decided to design a unilateral serif font. In most ways, this is a normal serif for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the new set developed for the book. There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more. Several alternative forms, a dozen ornaments, and more. Like all of my fonts, there are: caps, lowercase, small caps, proportional lining figures, proportional oldstyle figures, & small cap figures, plus numerators, denominators, superiors, inferiors, and a complete set of ordinals 1st through infinity. FF Good is a straight-sided sans serif in the American Gothic tradition, designed by Warsaw-based Łukasz Dziedzic. Despite having something of an “old-fashioned” heritage, FF Good feels new. Many customers agree: the sturdy, legible forms of FF Good have been put to good use in the Polish-language magazine ‘Komputer Swiat,’ the German and Russian edition of the celebrity tabloid OK!, and the new corporate design for the Associated Press. Although initially released as a family of modest size, the typeface was fully overhauled in 2010, increasing it from nine styles to 30 styles, with an additional 30-style sibling for larger sizes, FF Good Headline. In 2014, the type system underwent additional expansion to become FontFont’s largest family ever with an incredible 196 total styles. This includes seven weights ranging from Light to Ultra, and an astonishing seven widths from Compressed to Extended for both FF Good and FF Good Headline, all with companion italics and small caps in both roman and italic. With its subtle weight and width graduation, it is the perfect companion for interface, editorial, and web designers. This allows the typographer to pick the style best suited to their layout. As a contemporary competitor to classic American Gothic style typefaces—like Franklin Gothic, News Gothic, or Trade Gothic—it was necessary that an expanded FF Good also offers customers both Text and Display versions. The base FF Good fonts are mastered for text use, while FF Good Headline aims for maximum compactness. Its low cap height together with trimmed ascenders and descenders give punch to headlines and larger-sized copy in publications such as newspapers, magazines, and blogs.

Shandy is a cheerful, free-spirited font that dances jauntily along an undulating baseline. Like Gene Kelly merrily cavorting through that rain-soaked street, in the famous dance scene from Singin’ in the Rain. Curiously, it’s got the liveliness of a bouncy brush script, with some elements of a robust Copperplate-style script, that appear to have been defined by a funhouse carnival mirror. In order to promote variety, no two letters are identical within most occurrences of typical lowercase double-letter pairings (bb, dd, ee, ll, nn, oo, tt, etc.) To enhance your typography, Shandy features many automatic OpenType ligatures, beginning and terminal lowercase forms and Stylistic Alternates for letters E, M and N which are accessible in OpenType-capable applications. Multicolored Fonts Many years ago, when Xerox Corporation still had its own font department, I came to Los Angeles in 1985 to train the IKARUS program. One day Bill Kienzel, head of the Xerox font department at the time, said we should go to the Hollywood Hills together; he knew people there who were experimenting with multicolored fonts. After a little wandering through the winding streets of the many hills, we reached a somewhat overgrown, simple family house standing under trees. A group of very inspired designers were waiting for us there. They immediately showed us the works they created using photomechanical tricks. They were fascinating. The American colors and the whole look seemed noble and enchanting. The problem was that this process was very difficult to implement and required a lot of effort on individual letters. They dreamed of a colored font that could be used for normal typesetting. We thought back and forth about how to save the individually colored letters in a common font, but soon gave up because we didn't see a technical option. So this idea and the memory of the time in Hollywood lay dormant in the back of my mind for many years, until at the beginning of this year 2023 I received an order to produce an outline typeface and the story came back to me. Suddenly I knew how to solve the problem from back then: if only the areas that should have the same color in all letters were saved in their own separate fonts, they could be colored independently of each other and later placed on top of each other. I implemented this in the 5 fonts that are now available with the 3 variants “Outside”, “Middle” and “Inside”. Together with the background, 4 colors can be combined with each other. This method works in text programs such as Word or InDesign. In Photoshop or Illustrator, the individual surfaces can also be colored by converting them into paths if the additional “Complete” variants (which contain all 3 contours) are used. There is also a “Basic” variant that can be used to achieve special effects such as overlay, bleed, etc. The first 5 fonts in this series are all based on the principle of contouring. Anyone who claims that you don't need any special fonts because they can be created automatically from any font using common programs is wrong or is only telling only half the truth. Anyone who has ever dealt with this knows that many individual adjustments to the design are necessary after contouring. This has happened in the 5 fonts that are now available and have very different styles. The dream from back then has come true. And now something completely different. Keks has broken elements like a blackletter typeface, but the actual forms are roman. That keeps it very legible although there is no curve at all. What was the inspiration for designing the font? Blackletter has an interesting history here in Germany. We need to find contemporary interpretations for this tradition.
