Diverda Sans is a geometric family of typefaces that are all free from ornament. Swiss designer Daniel Lanz optimized Diverda Sans for maximum legibility. In contrast to many other modern typefaces, which try to squeeze the traditional rounder forms of the alphabet into square designs, and which often attempt to equalize the widths of the capital letters, Diverda Sans remains true to the proper proportions of the Roman alphabet. The x-heights of Diverda's characters are low, and the differences between curved, square, and triangular elements are very clear. Like the more calligraphic typefaces of the past, Diverda's strokes exhibit contrast that is inspired by movements of the pen on paper; down strokes are heavier than up strokes. Possible applications for the Diverda Sans include magazine design, as well as advertising for fashion, design, or architectural products. The Koelle Ornaments series is based on the etchings of Chris Koelle of Portland Studios. This is the second collaboration between insigne and Portland Studios; the first yielded the inky and active script Blue Goblet. Chris has a unique style where he "frames" his work with small icons related to the story or subject. These are now available as Koelle ornaments. Koelle Ornaments have a gritty, used appearance, and have a late 70's stylistic feel to them. There are 145 highly detailed illustrations in the entire pack, separated into four different fonts. These illustrations can be resized without any loss of quality, and can be easily converted to outlines and modified. Some of the ornaments have a Christian theme, while others are more generic. It was originally inspired by my winter scarf knitting exploits. I discovered that making wool scarves was generating beautiful patterns and I wanted them to become a source of inspiration for a style. I made a few collages, and they became letters. Other characters came up with ease. It is readable, but long essays are not its main purpose. It is decorative and will look casual and very attractive on any ad as a title or a short phrase. It also demonstrates very good performance in automatic 3D generators, like Xara 3D maker, used in making examples of how this font can be utilised. It was designed to be thin, soft, with the capacity to cover empty space and to create a vibrant environment. Small characters are different from capital letters, they are stylistic alternates. Some letters are slightly ominous or dynamic, others create a soothing feeling. Using several colors make it shine, but it is complex, it looks good in monochromatic compositions as well.

We want to create a different feel for the stencil font style. Usually stencil fonts are synonymous with military, retro and bold characters, but here we created the Kronaby font with an elegant and attractive stencil style for a modern design, combined with a subtle swash. In addition to swash in the Kronaby font, there are also many alternative character shapes and unique Discreationary ligatures. So the Kronaby font is very worthy of being a font collection on your computer for projects with a unique and charming elegant concept. Serif typefaces such as "Kronaby" are very easy to apply to any design, especially those with an elegant, modern and classic, besides that this font is very easy to use both in design and non-design programs because everything changes and glyphs are supported by Unicode (PUA). Shopping Script is designed after and inspired by my handwritten shopping list that was originally a lot less stylish, I have written each words multiple times to achieve the organic and natural flow with a bit spaced out style. This font is an existing work of mine that came in only one weight. Now I added multiple weights I as well as expanded and condensed instances, along with a weight and width variable font file that can be set to anything in between Thin Condensed to Heavy expanded. There are standard ligatures for it, jt, ll and tt, stylistic alternates for uppercase "A" and lowercase "e". Eclectic FS Siena is a typeface with history, and not just in the sense of having its origins in classical Roman lettering. Fontsmith founder Jason Smith first committed it to tracing paper while still at college, instinctively redrawing letterforms based on Hermann Zapf’s Optima according to ‘what felt right’. When Krista Radoeva took up the challenge to edit and extend the typeface, she and Jason were determined to preserve its subtly nonconformist and eclectic spirit. Like a great dish, there are individual components throughout the character set that all add flavour, and need to be balanced in order to work together. The smooth connection of the ‘h’ ‘m’ ‘n’ and ‘r’ contrasts with the corners of the ‘b’ and ‘p’. The instantly recognisable double-storey ‘a’ – the starting point of the design – contrasts with the single-storey ‘g’ and the more cursive ‘y’. And only certain characters – ‘k’, ‘w’, ‘v’ and ‘x’ in the lowercase and ‘K’, ‘V’, ‘W’, ‘X’ and ‘Y’ in the caps – have curved strokes. Transitional FS Siena is a contrasted sans-serif typeface, blending classical elegance and modern simplicity. Its construction and proportions are descended from classical broad-nib calligraphy and humanist typefaces, with a high contrast between the thick and thin strokes. The angle of the contrast, though, is vertical, more in the character of pointed-nib calligraphy and modernist typefaces. This vertical stress helps to give FS Siena a strong, cultured presence on the page. Idiosyncratic italics The italics for FS Siena were developed by Krista to complement the roman upper and lower-case alphabets first drawn by Jason. Many of the letterforms are built differently to their roman counterparts: there’s a single-tier ‘a’, a looped ‘k’ and connections more towards the middle of stems, such as in the ‘m’, ‘n’ and ‘u’. These distinctions, along with generally much narrower forms than the roman, give the italics extra emphasis within body copy, where the two are side-by-side. In editorial, especially, the combination can be powerful. To cap it all… In his original draft of the typeface, Jason found inspiration in Roman square capitals of the kind most famously found on Trajan’s Column in Rome. In keeping with those ancient inscriptions, he intended the capitals of FS Siena to also work in all-upper-case text, in logotypes for luxury consumer brands and property developments, for example. A little added space between the upper-case letters lets the capitals maintain their poise in a caps-only setting, while still allowing them to work alongside the lower-case letterforms. The caps-only setting also triggers a feature called case punctuation, which adapts hyphens, brackets and other punctuation to complement the all-caps text.

This font looks like the best effort of small children (when they are trying to be very neat). It is cute.

Edgar No. 9 is an original design by Alex Kaczun. Edgar No. 9 is a derivative work based on his Big Boy typeface series. It was designed specifically for display headlines, logotype, branding and similar applications. Primarily a display, this extremely versatile font has generous proportions, large counters and loose fitting which also allow the font to work well across a wide range of text sizes. Edgar No. 9 is a heavy baroque slab serif and although it shares the underling skeleton of 'Big Boy', it is a much more compact in overall proportions and spacing. A handsome bold headline font that works well in text as well as display sizes—ideally suited for publications and advertising. This fine lined display type face was named Allioideae because of the ascenders of the lower cases. They are rising upright with a single stroke and are ending - depending on the font style - into a spherical blossom. The name was chosen concerned to the plant allium, that forms an umbel at the top of a leafless stalk, when it is blooming. Allioideae is the name of a subfamily of monocot flowering plants in the family Amaryllidaceae. The name is derived from the generic name of the type genus, Allium. The wide and round capital letters are showing a nice contrast to the lower cases and giving the font a kind of female feeling. That provides a functional and lovely use in headlines for all beauty and cosmetics issues.The typeface appears in 4 different styles. a plain style – Allioideae, a stencil style - Allioideae Stencil, a (dotted) style for both - Allioideae Dot and Allioideae Stencil Dot. It supports multi language as it covers all the latin diacritics and a cyrillic character set. Lots of numbers as monospaced, lining figuers, old styles, sub- and superscript and many fractions in two different styles are giving a nice finish to that font. We named this font Scholz Secession. Fin-de-siecle Vienna, Austria is the source of this Jugendstil design from Schriftgiesserei Eduard Scholz. The original release was under the name Reklameschrift Secession. Most of the curve strokes look like commas to me. The letters are as soft and plump as the comforter on the bed I slept on in a Salzburg B&B many years ago. I was traveling with a college buddy and our next stop was Vienna. There a kind, young student named Hanna and her boyfriend took us under their wing. One of the places Hanna proudly showed us was Otto Wagner’s Majolika Haus, built in 1898, and only about 8 blocks from Secession Hall. Hanna explained to us that the style was called Jugendstil and represented Art Nouveau as interpreted within the framework of their culture. I even took a picture. After all, memories are part of who we are. Figures are old-style for text use. This font would not be my first choice for a spread sheet. Included are German ligatures ch (alt-0123) & ck (125), two period ornaments (135, 175) and lower case o and u with Hungarian long umlaut (215, 247)). A very likeable and easy-to-use font.

Linotype Zapf Essentials is the modernized version of Zapf Dingbats and was also designed by Hermann Zapf himself. Over 372 characters and symbols are included within six fonts and make life a little more communicative, a little more informative, and a lot more interesting. The fonts contain symbols for both professional and everyday uses. With their markers, ornaments and arrows they are informative as well as versatile, timeless and lively. An interesting note to the story of Zapf Essentials: in 1977, Hermann Zapf created about 1000 sketches of signs and symbols. ITC chose those which became known around the world as Zapf Dingbats. For a typesetter, dingbats are the characters in the corner of the type box which can be used for just about anything. The last decade has seen the appearance of new symbols for e-mail, fax, mobile phones and other developments. These are now part of Linotype Zapf Essentials, just as they are now a part of everyday life. In 2007-8, Carolyn Puzzovio developed this OpenType typeface: Lagoon which is based on an Armenian model from the Mechitarist monastery, Venice, 1810. This project was supported by a grant from the AHRC (Arts & Humanities Research Council, UK) and won a first prize in the Granshan 08 type design competition. Oſten, Armenian digital types are designed to match the forms of Latin type characters and ‘Latinized’, by uprighting the forms; truncating ascenders and descenders and raising the x-height – but in this case the Latin characters in the OpenType font have been designed to blend in with the traditional Armenian proportions which are based on cursive forms – also incorporating some of the quirky shapes from the original model. Faithfully following the original created difficulties of ‘clashing’ characters, particularly those with long descenders, so the font contains over 100 alternative characters in the Armenian part, which will normally substitute automatically where necessary. The sloping lower case characters and upright capitals are traditional in Armenian – capitals are used less in the Armenian language. Three new characters for the Armenian unicode range are included: the Armenian dram (currency) symbol; the eternity symbol; and the index number symbol. This font which will be one of the first OpenType fonts to incorporate these newly unicoded characters.

Lopsickles is a family in which the letters are based on lopsided, distorted ellipses. The family has four sets of letters that are combined in six different ways, yielding six fonts. Four of these fonts (styles AB, Ad, Bc, and cd) use the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt) to alternate letter sets so that top-heavy characters alternate with bottom-heavy characters. The spacing in these fonts is designed for alternating characters and will result in overlap if the characters do not alternate. The other two styles (Ac and Bd) are spaced normally. Style Ac contains the two character sets that are top heavy and style Bd has the two character sets that are bottom heavy. The Ac and Bd fonts have italics and backslanted styles that may be useful to suggest speed. Each of these ten fonts has an inset style designed to be used in a layer above the base font. This layering can be used to give the effect of hollow letters or to add a colored interior. Lopsickles joins several other alternating-characters families in the IngrimayneType library including Snuggels, CloseTogether, and Caltic, but is visually very different from them. It is a strange, unusual family that will get noticed.
