Nuyork Arabic was designed to emphasize on the individual Arabic letter visual traditional characteristics. Including 5 weights, it was designed with both text and display applications in mind. This font is intended to produce virtually cursive texts without eliminating the clarity or look-and-feel of the individual Arabic letters. Offering glyphs for the full Extended Arabic Unicode Standards 6.1, including the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, Nuyork Arabic incorporates comprehensive support for Quranic texts and other Arabetic scripts, including African sub-Saharan scripts. Careful design considerations were given to make sure that composed Arabetic text is visually prominent and stands well next to Latin. Cooper Black's second coming to American design in the mid-sixties, after almost four decades of slumber, can arguably be credited with (or, depending on design ideology, blamed for) the domino effect that triggered the whole art nouveau pop poster jam of the 1960s and 1970s. By the early 1970s, though Cooper Black still held its popular status (and, for better or for worse, still does), countless so-called hippie and funk faces were competing for packaging and paper space. The American evolution of the genre would trip deeper into psychedelia, drawing on a rich history of flared, flourished and rounded design until it all dwindled and came to a halt a few years into the 1980s. But the European (particularly German) response to that whole display type trend remained for the most part cool and reserved, drawing more on traditional art nouveau and art deco sources rather than the bottomless jug of new ideas being poured on the other side of the pond. One of the humorous responses to the "hamburgering" of typography was Friedrich Poppl's Poppl Heavy, done in 1972, when Cooper Black was celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is presented here in a fresh digitization under the name Gator (a tongue-in-cheek reference to Ray Kroc, the father of the fast food chain). To borrow the title of a classic rock album, Gator is meaty, beaty, big and bouncy. It is one of the finest examples of how expressively animated a thick brush can be, and one of the better substitutes to the much overused Cooper Black. Gator comes in all popular font formats, and sports an extended character set covering the majority of Latin-based languages. Many alternates and ligatures are included in the font.

The main reason I wanted to design this font was because I really didn’t like how poorly some fonts tried to mimic an Oriental appearance. Trying to make western words appear Asian with a font composed of brush strokes is almost always doomed to failure. However, I find Croasian works extremely well with one syllable words that are Asian sounding. A good font to have if you want to express an Asian name or business phonetically in a western alphabet while still retaining an Asiatic feel. PTx Flowers Font Family 2 fonts: regular and silhouette each font - 6 glyphs TTF format Bear in mind that each glyph of the font PTx Flowers Regular is close to the maximum limit of points possible in ttf, which means that despite being tested in several programs, illustrator, photoshop, among others including word, some bugs may occur, depending on the rendering capability of the program you are working on. I found however that most of the time, that by the way the bugs, when tested, were only verified in word, that changing the size of the letter/glyph or even the zoom of the document, the letter/glyph was rendered correctly. These fonts have a very limited number of glyphs because, due to the glyphs having too many points, it can take some time to render. I designed Conium to be a sister font to Nightshade. It was meant to have the appearance of the hemlock plant without being too derivative; it’s thin drooping stems conjure images of Hamlet’s mad Ophilia clutching sickly weeds while thinking them to be flowers. It also projects the appearance of an ice cold, wrought iron, cemetery gate. The sort that one might pass on a damp overcast day. A fitting compliment to an Edward Gorey illustration from top, right down to the frigid ground from which it sprang. Why do we need another typeface? This is a prickly question often asked of typeface designers. Depending on who you ask, the answer in simplified form is usually one of two: 1. As the basis of written communication, type design carries social responsibility, so we must continue to improve legibility. 2. Type design is a form of artistic expression. Without art, life is not worth living. The best work, of course, accomplishes both. Xavier Dupré, the designer of the Malaga typeface family, has at least one leg securely planted in the latter notion. He believes, like others, that within typeface design most legibility needs have been worked out and that today we are satisfying aesthetic desires. We design typefaces to differentiate our communications. Type design is primarily a formal exercise reflecting our personal quirks, technological obsessions, and cultural heritage. In case of Dupré’s work, issues of cultural heritage and personal quirks are of particular consequence. An incessant traveler, he visited the following countries during the development of the Malaga type family: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, France, Belgium, and finally, Spain, where his choice for the name Malaga originates (Malaga is a port city in southern Spain). Dupré’s home is where his laptop is. He travels with a 12- or 15 inch PowerBook, without a printer, and with sporadic access to his reference books and other historical documents. All he needs is a table and chair. He even learned to design without a mouse since hotel and cafe tables are often too small to also fit a mousepad. Dupré is the new global designer who can take disparate influences and fluidly process the information into a coherent whole. Malaga is a case in point. It is inspired by ideas ranging from blackletter to Latin fonts, and from the Quattrocento’s first Venetian antiquas to brush stroke types. This makes Malaga a richly animated font saturated with unorthodox detail. Its black and bold weights are particularly suited for headlines and short texts, while the subtle modulation and moderate contrast in the regular and medium weights makes it perfectly readable in extended text settings. While Malaga doesn’t claim to resolve any particular legibility issues, it is nonetheless perfectly readable and will impart any design with a healthy dose of visual character.

Mayence is the French name of Mainz, German city where Johannes Gutenberg was born. It's a manuscript font inspired in the author's calligraphy, with an angular structure, marked by a certain impulsiveness. Besides being a continuous-line font, Mayence explores some deviations and imperfections in the calligraphy practice, as accumulations of paint and anomalies in the thickness variation, characteristics which gives it more naturality. Its main difference is the set of over 430 ligatures (Premium version), based on the research and selection of important character sequences, rather frequent in several languages. For this, a study was done about the diphthongs, triphthongs and di-tri-tetra-pentagraphs more common in languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hungarian, Croatian, among others. Ligatures with up to 2 characters are enabled by default and with more than 2 characters are enabled by the Discretionary Ligatures option. Mayence also contains several ligatures based on common words in English and Spanish, exclusive ligatures with numbers and another standard, discretionary, historic and Unicode ligatures. It has 9 different ampersands (&), which can be chosen by the user according to the application context. When you enable the Titling Alternates (in OpenType-savvy programs), these 9 ampersand styles are converted to their forms of seal, with different purposes of use. The idea for Quirky was born while I was looking at a book of etchings by British artist Graham Clarke. His signature, crawling spider-like across the page, fascinated me with its casual, almost messy, inky dark and light drama. I started scribbling the alphabet as I imagined he would write it, based on his signature, then continued, adding curls, making the characters more angular, and refining the dramatic play between dark and light. Finally, Quirky appeared. Apparently casual, Quirky is, in fact, a true connected script. Quirky is characteristic of contemporary handwriting: It appears loose, angular, unstructured, and free, while maintaining good form and legibility. Its baseline is varied, creating an impression of impatient handwriting, without losing legibility. Quirky comes in five styles: condensed -- the most dramatic form, with great drama between thick and thin condensed black -- as with condensed but allows the user to provide exceptional emphasis wide -- increased readability wide black -- increased readability and emphasis splat -- messy and ink-blotted -- a hint of grunge Use Quirky for advertising, for humorous greeting cards, for a funky fashion look or tongue-in-cheek spooky media. Quirky is a fully professional font with extensive use of OpenType Ligatures. For example: most common double letter combinations such as "ee" are rendered as two, slightly different shaped "e"s. This variation in letter shapes removes the cues by which the reader identifies that he is viewing a FONT and thus conveys a strong sense of hand-lettered text. Auchentaller was inspired by a travel poster by Josef Maria Auchentaller in 1906. To our knowledge, it was never cast in type. Grado lies on the northern Adriatic, between Venice and Trieste. At one time the port for the important Roman town of Aquileia. With the decline of the Roman Empire, the upper Adriatic region came under the rule of the Visigoths, the Ostrogoths, the Byzantines, the Lombards, the Franks, the Germans, the Venetians and finally, in 1796, the Austrian Hapsburgs. So it remained until the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in 1919, following World War I, when the seaport of Trieste was awarded to Italy. With Trieste came Montefalcone, Aquileia and Grado. The area was marked by years of political tension between Italy and Yugoslavia, exemplified by the d'Annunzio expedition to capture Fiume (Rijeka) in September, 1919. Some basic discussion of the period from 1919 to 1939 may be found in Seton-Watson’s Eastern Europe Between The Wars (Cambridge 1945) and Rothschild’s East Central Europe Between The Two World Wars (Seattle 1974). In 1965 I was traveling by train from Venice to Vienna. Crossing the Alps, the train stopped for customs inspection at the rural Italian-Austrian border, just above Slovenia. We were warned not to get off the train because there were still shooting skirmishes in the area. Through all this, Grado remained literally an island of tranquility, connected to the mainland by a only causeway and lines on a map. Auchentaller not only painted the beach scene at Grado, he moved there, living out the rest of his life in this comfortable little island town. His travel illustration contains the text from which the design of our font Auchentaller is drawn. The text translates: "Seaside resort : Grado / Austrian coastal land". Auchentaller is a monoline all-cap font, light and open in design , with a lot of typically art nouveau letter forms. Included in our font are a number of ligatures.
