I really like Wales; I like the culture, the people and the language. I also like the Welsh legends, especially the ones about King Arthur and Merlin. I am reading a book about Arthur right now, so when I was working on this font, I wanted to give it a Welsh name. Caerphilly is a town in Southern Wales and is home to an immense 13th century castle (Castell Caerffili). Caerphilly font is based on a 16th century manuscript. I kept the glyphs rough, to give it ‘ye olde’ look. Comes with a hoard of diacritics, a bunch of double letter ligatures and some alternate glyphs as well.

The last couple of years felt like I was living in a bad dream: I witnessed crazy leaders, climate change and now Covid. I usually name my fonts after things that affect me and this one is not different. Dreamworld is a font I made with a cheap marker pen I liberated from my kids’ pencil box (I will put it back, pinky promise…). It is a bit rough, but also very easy to read and distinctive enough to make your work stand out. Of course it comes with extensive language support (let me mention Vietnamese again…) and two sets of alternate glyphs, that cycle as you type.

We have been in lockdown for a long time now. The schools were also closed, meaning my kids had to stay at home. This week the schools reopened (not a day too soon!), which means my kids can play with their friends again and learn something too! My wife and I pack their lunchboxes every day and always add some fruit for snack time. That fruity snack inspired me to create this rather messy font! Fruity Snack is a handmade display font. It looks wobbly, comes with awkward angles and rough bits. It also comes with extensive language support (including Vietnamese) and 2 sets of alternates for the lower case letters.

This font takes its name and the overall shape from modern bentwood furniture, namely Scandinavian designs since the 1940s. The curved corners of the letterforms are practically hyperbolic, to convey the tension and strength of the bent plywood. These curves are meant to appear more dynamic than circular or elliptical segments of traditional sans serif fonts. The letterforms are simplified, without extra corners, stems, connections or hooks, yet remain legible at any size. Now at version 2, Bentwood contains Central/Eastern European, Baltic and Turkish character sets and more ligatures with Open Type functionality. Some minor corrections were made to letter shapes and positions, as well as to kerning and spacing.

I recently bought a small, portable speaker. I can now listen to music when I am making fonts! Output Volume is a name I came up with after reading the quick start guide that came with the speaker. Output Volume is a 100% handmade display font - it was based on a protest sign, but after a few glyphs it started to morph into something unique. I created 2 sets of contextual alternates (including the most used accented glyphs), that will cycle as you type. I also added some discretionary ligatures, to get an even more random effect. Output Volume comes with a vast array of accented letters, including Vietnamese.

After releasing Amsi in 2015, this year Sans Beam is now ready to launch with the design that support many different usability from Headline to Body text, and specifically designed to be compatible with other font families of Stawix Foundry. This typeface has been designed under the simple idea of ‘Choose. Play. Repeat.’ on the limited space of typographic layout, in which most of the time faces the problem of choosing appropriate font weight that would serve the right intention. After designing two script fonts (lp Pinselschrift, lp Bambus), Peter Langpeter has now drawn an elegant Antiqua font, namely lp Saturnia, derived and conceived from his work in developing headlines and logos. The aim was to create a modern interpretation of the classical Roman letters (Capitalis Monumentalis or Trajan by Carol Twombly), avoiding the archaic look of these letter forms. Also, the difficulty of spacing characters with excessive forms, such as the long tails of 'K' and 'R', are avoided. Additionally, lp Saturnia also comes with lower case characters. Modulario is a geometric sans with some disturbingly individual features. A few capitals owe a bit too much to Roman proportions. The circular O serves to distinguish it from the zero, and the luxuriously wide W and M are both pointed in the middle, although alternatives to the more contentious letters are available within the font. The type design for Impecunious JNL comes from the 1939 sheet music for "You Don't Know How Much You Can Suffer (Until You Fall in Love)". The name comes from another piece of sheet music, 1899's "Impecunious Davis" [a piece of late 19th century tripe demeaning Black Americans]. However, the word "impecunious" was intriguing. According to the website Merriam-Webster.com, the simple definition of impecunious means "having little or no money". Since we've all been in that spot at one time or another, it became a perfect font name. Impecunious JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Calypso I (Italian) draws its inspiration from type founders' plentiful show-off-letters, which were typical on title pages and lithographs in the early 19th century. It borrows luscious details from these but inherits a stiff modern backbone from its parent, Calypso E (Egyptian). Within the Calypso type family all fonts share the same dimensions and work together consistently. Calypso I supports many languages and includes, for example, four sets of basic numerals, circled numbers, alternative characters, case sensitive forms and dingbats. Give it a go on drop caps and headlines or even set short paragraphs with it. It loves colour and effects.

Binny Old Style is based on type designs originally cut in Scotland about 1863. Binny Old Style shows the influence of the types cut by William Caslon but was an attempt to make a modernized version by eliminating some of Caslon's more archaic features. It was cut by some American foundries at the end of the nineteenth century and by Lanston Monotype for mechanical composition, in 1908. Binny Old Style was named after Archibald Binny, a Scotsman who established a type foundry in Philadelphia in 1796. The Binny Old Style font is ideal for small point size settings in newspaper advertisements, catalogues etc.

On February 15, 1926, the Display Material Company of St. Paul Minnesota patented a sign making outfit consisting of a series of stencils in various sizes and styles, paints, brushes, instructions for use and all stored inside a convenient wooden case. Sold to any business in need of making many signs at low cost, this versatile stencil set enabled many a merchant to produce posters, show cards and price tags for pennies over what a commercial sign shop would charge. Floorwalker JNL is the digital version of one of these stencil fonts, solidified into a pre-Art Deco-era typeface.

My friends didn't use capitals when sending me text messages, e-mails and using all their digital toys. At the beginning, I was feeling ignored. But after time I thought, that... I can do something for them. And so, I've made Redaktor. Redaktor is a cute monospaced family of four fonts, which has only lowercase characters and large x-height. If you want to write an uppercase character, you can't do it. (OK, to be fair, there will be small underline, just to show you, what you have done...) You may find Redaktor useful for posters, titling, info-graphics or websites.
