Erratic JNL earns its name from the varying widths and shapes of the hand lettering found on some old Art-Deco era sheet music. Following this unusual pattern throughout the complete typeface, the user finds a mix of traditional Deco type design and an overly wide M, N, W and 8.

French Calligraphic JNL is actually more semi-calligraphic in nature. Its name takes a descriptive liberty because of the sharp, angled pen strokes of the original hand lettered example found in the 1930s publication "100 Alphabets Publicitaires" by M. Moullet. The design is available in both regular and oblique versions.

My family and I recently moved to a ‘fixer upper’ farm from the 1930’s. It came with a slightly run down barn, 4000 square metres of land and a LOT of redcurrant bushes. I can’t really say that I am overly fond of them. I find them a bit too tart. As a kid, I used to smother them in sugar, but I can’t do that any longer, since I am a responsible dad… ;-) Redcurrant is a slightly wonky, slightly crazy handmade font. It can be used for book covers or post cards, but feel free to use it for whatever. Comes with cute little swashes as well.

Norwich Aldine ML is a all-cap typeface with enlarged serifs, designed and produced in wood by William Hamilton Page of Norwich, Connecticut in 1872. Norwich Aldine ML is a fine example of the strength of decorative wood types: large, simple type forms that provide the visual boldness sought by advertisers of the Victorian period. While our marketing has gotten so very sophisticated, there is always a place for a simple, visually strong typeface. Although about 14 miles inland, Norwich, Connecticut lies at the head of the Thames River. The river is both wide and deep, and therefore was not bridged in the early 20th century. Until then, if you wanted to get from Groton on the west bank to the whaling port of New London on the east bank by land, you had to go by way of Norwich. Because of its size, the Thames is navigable all the way from Norwich to New London. Docks were built in Norwich around 1685 and the city became Connecticut’s 2nd largest port by 1800. With the construction of the Norwich & Worcester Railroad in 1835, Page could easily ship his wood type north by rail or south by coastal schooner. Included with our font, Norwich Aldine ML, are two 19th century printer’s ornaments of sailing ships similar to those that sailed up the Thames to Norwich. Royal, majestic, elegant. These letters are based on Roman and Greek characters carved on stone. They come in 3 different styles. Normal and Shaded are designed to have serifs with a finer thinning. On the other hand, Metallic is bolder and simulates in the most realistic way three-dimensional metallic lettering. There are some alternate characters placed at lowercase positions as well as a few stylistic alternates which are accessed through the OpenType features. As as a computer programmer, it is my job to stare at screens of text all day. For my first font, I completed a simple monospaced font, Debug, based on my own handwriting. Mickey Mono is much more ambitious: I wanted a humanist design - something with organic curves. It had to be clean and fresh. It had to have the advantages of Debug, like distinctive numerals (to distinguish between 8 and 3) and huge punctuation characters (so I could read complicated Perl one liners). Mickey Mono would be a good friend to me as I struggled through difficult coding tasks. It has a wide range of Latin Extended characters and diacritics, so it can speak French, Portuguese, and Ruby. Neuron Angled is based in the idea of Neuron, the original font designed in 2012 by Corradine Fonts' team, keeping from its predecessor the proportions and slight narrowness. In this version the rounded edges are replaced by sharp contours and flat endings. Uranus is a futuristic font inspired by space and extraterrestrial civilizations. The proportions of the letters are wide, the elements of the letters have organic curves, reminiscent of the design of streamlined spaceships. What gives the font a special character is the excessive contrast between the upper element and the crossbar in letters such as A, B, E, F, K, P, R. In these letters, there is a barely noticeable intra-letter gap in the form of a line. Due to this contrast and rounded elements in these letters, a negative space of a triangular shape also turned out. Particular attention should be paid to the broad language support for the font. The font is largely undesigned, but is bound together by a thick connected band which forms the word-blocks. At the same time, parts of Urbanregent are very designed, glyphs have been re-designed to reflect changes in the way we speak and write. The exclamation mark is louder and more manic, because people tend to write two or three exclamation marks after each other anyway. The full stop is more stopping and the hyphen kicks you on to the next word. Kenn Munk's fonts are generally hard to use - Urbanregent is no exception, but a tip would be to start each word with a capital letter. Because Every Word Is Important.

Joost Schmidt?s (1893?1948) name is undoubtedly connected with monolinear condensed letters of geometric appearance ? his unfinished draft of a stencil alphabet, constructed on grid paper in 1930, is much lesser known. These modular shapes simply consist of half circles, quarter circles and square strokes with half-round terminals. From just six original letterforms (a, b, c, d, e, g), Flavia Zimbardi completed Schmidt?s draft and extended it to a full character set for contemporary use, adding upper case letters and different figure sets including old-style. Joschmi overcomes legibility issues usually associated with this stencil style, with special attention to the design of white space. Zimbardi lends the face even more character by carefully adding round terminals in subtle spots of the alphabet, accessible through stylistic sets.

I thought of these questions as being logical and really easy, but I also found out that it is a great way for the kids to remember and recall their knowledge! A chunky dressing may not sound very delicate, but I remember my grandmother used make a very chunky dressing for the mashed potatoes. I really loved it - actually I wish I had the recipe so that I could reproduce that particular consistency. As a successor of Didots famous font, which marked the beginning of modern typography, the Monceau has inherited the spirit, elegance and sophistication of french style, although in a revamped design, typical for the first years of the 21st century. Liberated from its serifs and with soft and round small letters the Monceau approaches ornamental typography and thus perfectly lends itself to being enlarged: it’s a font that loves to be closely looked at. Its name, lent from the famous parc Monceau in Paris, evokes and reinvents in a modern graphical way all of the Parisian chic at the end of 18th and the beginning of the19th century (the time Didot was born), the French Revolution and Empire, the architecture of this business quarter and notably the arabesques of the monumental gates still present in our times.

When designing AM Sans One, it was a great challenge for me to develop a modern sans serif, which despite the large number of existing fonts in this sector has its own unique character. Starting point for the design concept was the cap O, designed as a rectangle with rounded corners, and not as usual as a circle or oval. The O should form the basis for the whole alphabet. Another feature are the characters with oblique starting and end strokes such as "A, V, W". These have not exactly straight, diagonal lines, but have a slight curvature. Thus, these letters do not look too geometric. Also the cap K deviates slightly from the usual shape which makes AM Sans One different from other already existing fonts. I could well imagine applying this font for areas such as engineering or architecture.
