This typeface is based on lettering by Carl Marx (1911?1991), designed during his first semester at the Bauhaus in Joost Schmidt?s class, in 1932. Although the letter proportions are based on Schmidt?s teachings, the forms are not constructed from compass and ruler, but drawn with brush and marker, lending the words a warm and lively touch. Hidetaka Yamasaki redrew the letters from scratch and added all missing characters for today?s needs. A set of hanging figures, alternates for some critical letterforms (such as f, r, and t) as well as several ligatures make CarlMarx especially suitable for use in body text. As suggested by Marx, Yamasaki captured two weights from the original drawing and perfectly adjusted light and bold to highlight words and create hierarchy in headlines ? without losing or adding space. True to the original, Yamasaki captured the wobbly contour in CarlMarx, preserving warmth in the condensed geometric style of the early 1930s.

Volantene Script is a fully equipped display typeface inspired by the fine penmanship of Lady Talisa Maegyr-Stark. The lowercase letters are crafted to be as faithful as possible to the lady�s hand-written forms, while the uppercase, figures, symbols, and punctuations are original designs by Catharsis Fonts (Christian Thalmann) matching the lowercase in style. Volantene Script comes with an extensive character set and OpenType features like ligatures and contextual alternates. The common romanization of High Valyrian uses macrons (??????) to mark long vowels. Since these are difficult to type with most keyboard mappings, Volantene Script offers macron-shaped diaereses (������), which are easily accessible. The regular style of this family was inspired from the typeface used in Nuremberg, Germany, by Johannes Petreius in 1543 to print the famous “De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium,” the well-known mathematical and astronomical essay by Nicolaus Copernicus. Petreius was also using an original italic style, as he did for the “De Sculptura” by Gaurico Pomponio, in 1542. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know who was the punchcutter of this Jenson-style font. Also included is a title file, containing initials (without diacritics) and small caps (with diacritics). In our three styles (Regular & Italic + Titling), font faces, kerning and spacing are as closely as possible identical to the original. This Pro font is covering Western, Eastern and Central European, Baltic and Turkish languages, with standard and long-s ligatures in regular and italic styles. Both have twin-letter ligatures, but the italic style has extra (genuine) ligatures for f and t with vowels.

Living from 1545 in Lyon, France, the famous punchcutter Robert Granjon created a typeface that looked like his own handwriting. The first book printed with this font, in 1557, was probably Dialogues de la vie et de la mort by Innocent Ringhier. We offer the complete typeface. It is a charming font with historical forms (long s, final s and others) and many ligatures, enriched with accented letters and other characters that did not exist in the original (thorn, eth, lslash and others), and a lot of alternates that permit rich and varying typography. PiS Hansch has its origin on a small graveyard in Salzburg, Austria. The hand-carved epigraph on a weathered tombstone inspired PiS to create this slightly twisted serif monster. From original samples of Rudolf Koch's Maximilian, Gothicus and Gothicus Alternate have Fraktur style captials, Gothicus Roman has Roman capitals. All three have the same lower case which includes three swash characters for g, s and t, available as discretionary ligatures in OpenType versions, and manually otherwise. All include two authentic ornaments, also penned by Koch. Gothicus Roman has three additional floret ornaments.

This font was inspired from the numerous font-types looking like Hand-carved in the 1700's. The capitals are mainly inspired from the font carved by Fournier in year 1781, the year of the famous American and French decisive victory at Yorktown, and drawn by Benjamin Franklin himself, and the lower cases are inspired from the well known "bâtarde coulée" style, ornamented with final loops and enriched with alternates and ligatures. The font is available for English, Western Europe (including Celtic) Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern Europe and Turquish languages.

Ben Harris' illustrated cover for the sheet music of "I Found A Million Dollar Baby (in a Five and Ten Cent Store)" from 1931's "Billy Rose's Crazy Quilt" lists the show's stars and other credits in a pen lettered monoline design with rounded terminals. This early Art Deco type style has now become the digital font Variety Store JNL (a reference to the Five and Ten Cent stores alluded to in the song title from the sheet music).
