Here's a faithful rendering of an old face from the James Conner's Sons specimen catalog of 1888, alternately known as Aetna or Painter's Gothic. Its compact descenders allow for tightly-spaced headlines. Both versions of the font contain the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Mares is an unicase typeface inspired by the American psychedelic movement from the mid 1960’s where capitals and lowercase used to be mixed and distorted to become part of the image. Mares is a bold and modern psychedelic font for use on special occasions. The bigger the better.

Here’s another happy camper based on the work of master penman Walter Heberling. Its quirky character and offset baseline make for interesting and enticing heads and subheads. Tally Text Light is an early photolettering type, sometime in the 1940s, when words were hand assembled from individual film positives of the letters, then re-photographed. We made the bold face version of Tally Text Light by optical trickery long before the computer came into general use.

A vintage Canadian-published music book circa the 1940s had the title "Strauss Waltzes" hand lettered in a bold Art Deco sans serif that featured block style letters with rounded corners. This was the working model for Formal Dance JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

In 1885 Heinrich Wallau, printer and typographer in Mainz, picked up the idea of creating a rounded gothic font written with a broad nib. This idea was then realized by Rudolf Koch between 1925 and 1930. RMU Wallau is a bringing back this beautiful font for present typography.

Discovered within the pages of a turn-of-the-Twentieth-Century specimen book of the Società Nebiolo of Turin, Italy, was this little gem, which shows both antique and Art Nouveau influences. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

The movable letters used on temporary road signs in the U.K. inspired this utilitarian typeface. Also included in the font are numerous other carriageway symbols and emblems. Traditional stencil type faces have always projected images of strength, power, police, military or industry. The hand-lettered title card for 1951's "Detective Story" (directed by William Wyler) is a perfect example of this. A bold Roman letter style, it was the perfect inspiration for Detective Bureau JNL.

Maxim was originally designed by Peter Schneidler in 1956 for the Bauer Type Foundry. This typeface is energetic and has the look and feel of a brush painted script. The FontHaus font studio released its revival version with added characters in 1994 and as an OpenType font in 2006.

The 1992 edition of The Solotype Catalog called this singularly strange typeface "Wilcox Initials". In case you're interested, this version features ducking accented lowercase characters. Based on the Morris F. Benton for ATF in 1920, it was not completed for production until 1926. The serif version we released a few years ago was so popular, that we decided to design a complementary sans serif version in three weights, along with three corresponding Swash fonts.

Kryptic is based on a design for computer optical character recognition (OCR) from the 1960s developed by Epps & Evans at the National Physical Laboratory. Its pure geometric and elemental shapes create graphic patterns and visual puzzles that only secondarily communicate meaning. Not recommended for extended text, unless intentionally encrypting!

Anna Gagarin is the loving matriarch of the Gagarin Family. Her life was full of love and passion. She had several affairs with Futurist and Contstructivist artist in the beginning of the 20th century. She was in love with the Russian poet Vladimir Majakovski (born on July 19th, 1893 and died in Moscow on the April 14th, 1930). She gave birth to his son Boris. She called him 'a cloud with trousers'. After this love story, Anna Gagarin met the designer and artist Gustav Klucis in Italy. His radical and political ideas were much too childish for her. After a period of love and passion Anna gave birth to his son. At that time they were in Italy, which explains his italic forms. After her return to Moscow in the beginning of the 1920's Anna was introduced by Alexander Rodchenko. They were heavenly in love but Ilja Stepanova was very jealous on her husband. Anna once said that 'Alexander fills mine construction with love...' That phrase can be an explanation for the term Constructuvism as an art movement. Alexander was the great love of Anna. She gave birth to their love-baby Dimitri Gagarin. That night Alexander designed his most famous poster. A decade before that Anna told it was
'a time for a change'. In a local bar in Sint Petersburg she met Gregory Rasputin. At that time Rasputin was a well known person and a respected member of the Sint Petersburg upper class.His diabolic character influenced Anna and after several months she gave birth to their son Kurt. He inherited the main characteristics of his father. The Gagarin Family wants to give love and wants be loved...

In 1939 the Stephenson Blake Company bought a very popular script called Undine Ronde and began marketing under the name Amanda Ronde. Although Undine/Amanda was quite popular and can be seen in many advertisements from the 1930s and 1940s, there seems to be no surviving record stating the original foundry or designer. We thought that six and half decades of dust layers over the once-popular typeface were enough, so here and now you have its complete and expanded digital incarnation, Adore. It is quite easy to see why this typeface was popular. A round script with graceful meaty curves is rarely found and can be used in plenty of applications. Wedding paraphernalia, chapter titles, posters, poetry, book covers, religious literature... you name it, Adore can fit it. Aside from its totality being unmatched by currently available designs, Adore also possesses some of the most unique and imaginative letter shapes. The narrow loops on the B, P and R, the minuscule-like Z, the looped b and d, the descending h... all these shapes contribute to a breathtaking and adorable calligraphic work unlike any other. The original design came in a basic alphabet, but we have updated it for current digital technologies, and expanded it to include plenty of alternates and ligatures, as well as some ornaments. The Postscript Type 1 and True Type versions come in two fonts, the second containing the alternates and extras, while the Open Type version is a single font containing all the alternates and extras in conveniently programmed features, easily accessible at the push of a button in OpenType-supporting software. Here is my next Celtic Monograms font family. I used a lot of authentic knots and curves to imitate Insular art style. The term derives from insula, the Latin term for “island” in this period Britain and Ireland shared a largely common style different from that of the rest of Europe. I've drawn sketches set, manually vectorized it and assemble the font family. In an attempt to replicate the intricate patterns found in Celtic art, I endeavored to create a design that embodied the essence of true Celtic knot work. The interweaving lines, which were prominent motifs in Celtic art prior to the arrival of Christian influence around 450, served as the foundation for my creation. Over time, these designs seamlessly integrated into early Christian manuscripts and artwork, incorporating depictions of various elements from everyday life, including animals, plants, and even human figures. In the beginning, the patterns were intricate interwoven cords, called plaits. This particular style is often linked to the Celtic regions, but it was also widely embraced in England and spread throughout Europe through the efforts of Irish and Northumbrian monks. The utilization of the Celtic knot as a tattoo design gained popularity during the 1970s and 1980s in the United States. Consequently, it has proven to be a highly advantageous font choice for various applications such as posters, banners, and sportswear. You can also create a vintage color shift effect. Please note, you should use graphic applications such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, but not Microsoft Word. All you need is put Two or Three lines style initial on the top of Back style. The Face2Face (F2F) series was inspired by the techno sound of the mid-1990s, personal computers and new font creation software. For years, Sibylle Schlaich and her friends formed a unique type design collective, which churned out a substantial amount of fresh, new fonts, none of which complied with the traditional rules of typography. Many of these typefaces were used to create layouts for the leading German techno magazine of the 1990s, Frontpage. Schlaich and her fellows would even set in type at 6 points, in order to make it nearly unreadable. It was a pleasure for the kids to read and decrypt these messages! The Palatino™ typeface was first designed over 50 years ago by Hermann Zapf, and is probably the most universally admired and used of his type designs. In 1950, it was punchcut in metal by August Rosenberger at D. Stempel AG typefoundry in Frankfurt am Main, and then adapted for Linotype machine composition.
