Some time ago, I read an article about the Kennedy assassination. In that article, a person dubbed ‘the umbrella man’ played a rather bizarre role: apparently an innocent bystander with an opened umbrella was thought to be in cahoots with Kennedy’s killer. I immediately thought that the name ‘Umbrella Man’ was a good title for a horror movie, so when I created this rough brush font, I named it Umbrella Man.

E-Lie is based on the logo for the Portland band E-Lie. Jon Lincicum designed the logo, and then the basic shapes of the principal letters and numbers. He then gave these designs to Shaun Kennedy, who expanded the design, adding punctuation, accented letters, and math symbols. Shaun then compiled the designs into an OpenType font, adding kerning and ligature information. The design is a distinctive, stylistic font excellent for use when you need to grab someone's attention.

PT Nature by Paratype is a collection of scripts based on handwriting of real people. Text set in PT Nature looks genuine and human. The fonts are a great fit for advertisement and packaging designs as well as for informal communications. PT Nature was created by Gennady Fridman and Isabella Chaeva with help from the Paratype design team.

Battleslab is a slab serif made for setting few words in large sizes. Two heavily contrasted weights work well when combined, with its mono-line wide light and heavy black it is perfect for making that "one-two punch" in headlines or logotypes. Display oriented Battleslab derived from Battlefin Family (which is much more comprehensive with its ligatures, italics and SC).

The idea was to create a package containing prominent tag styles of graffiti strongholds like New York, Berlin and Paris. Shik (New York), Deon (Paris) and Etan (Berlin) came together to show the typical tag styles of their respective metropolitan areas. The fonts were digitized, spaced, kerned and programmed by Hannes von Döhren. The Subway Types are highly equipped. Each one consists of 4 alphabets (Uppercase, Lowercase, Small Caps & Swash). They also include ligatures and some specials like underlines and a huge range of accents for a wide language support. With the OpenType technology these features can be applied easily. For those who never used the OpenType features, we created the Std (Standard) and the SC (Small Caps) versions of the fonts. They contain the same basic characters like the OT versions but are split in two fonts. Hence you don’t need any OpenType knowledge to use the Std and SC fonts.

Agafia handwriting script is based on the hand of Agafia Karpovna Lykova - the last member of the Old Believer family lived like an hermit in the Khakass taiga. The face is developed for the new book on the history of Lykov's family by Lev Cherepanov. It's built in OpenType format with a contextual substitution of letterforms and specific ligatures. The script font “Jefferson” is based on real handwriting of Thomas Jefferson. Luckily there is a draft of original text of the Declaration of Independence written by Jefferson available . It was used as a primary source for this font. The Jefferson font was developed by Gennady Fridman for ParaType in 2005. It is in OpenType format with a contextual substitution of letterforms and specific ligatures.

Jeff Script is based on original handwriting of renowned Russian type designer Vladimir Yefimov. Vladimir designed a plenty of Cyrillic fonts that became the classical ones between contemporary Cyrillic type designs. Being extreme busy with type projects, he never had time to digitize his own script and this lacuna was filled by Gennady Fridman. The font was developed to the 60th anniversary of Maestro and released by ParaType in 2009.
