Nightshade was my attempt to bring the Old English fonts up to date. The capital letters still contain flourishes, but they look more machined and less calligraphic. I called the font Nightshade after the plant of the same name. Like the plant, it may be considered to be beautiful or poisonous depending on one's outlook. As a result, it can be applied when an attractive, ornate look is required, or it can be used when there is a need to create a more chilling effect. Gothic fraktur inspired design, I wanted to resemble old german calligraphy but making it very geometric, so I used an isometric reticle during sketching. This is a display font, created for BIG sizes, non textual. I recommend it for branding, poster, logos or titles. Its very experimental -- it exists within the limits of legible and illegible reading. I choose the name “Garbancera” because gothic calligraphy has issues that are linked with dark, gloomy, lugubrious things or fear feelings, culturally in Mexico. I related this with death and for mexicans, death is something we celebrate and give us joy and happiness, annoying, the most representative Mexican characters, one of those is “La Calavera Garbancera” or better known as “La Catrina”, a clothes skeleton with only a hat. It was drawn this way to make a critic to all Mexicans at that time, that were poor but they wanted to represent a high lifestyle, “those that where to the bones, but with a French hat with ostrich feathers”. La Catrina was created by José Guadalupe Posada, a Mexican lithographer but also a newspaper illustrator. I think this is a beautiful font that can lead to great results, just use it wisely.

Khatt tries to mimic the concept behind the meaning of the Arabic word Khatt: a straight horizontal line. The word Khatt is also the word for calligraphy in the Arabic language. Even though Khatt is a cursive style font it offers clearly distinguished and visually unified letter shapes in every position of a word. Khatt supports all Arabetic scripts covered by Unicode 6.1, and the latest Arabic Supplement and Extended-A Unicode blocks, including support for Quranic texts. It comes with five weights, regular, medium, bold, light, and ultra-light. Each weight has normal and left-slanted “italic” styles. The script design of this font family follows the Arabetics Mutamathil Taqlidi style and utilizes varying x-heights. The Mutamathil Taqlidi type style uses one glyph per every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter, as defined by the Unicode Standards, and one additional final form glyph, for each freely-connecting letter in an Arabic text. Khatt includes the required Lam-Alif ligatures in addition to all vowel diacritic ligatures. Katts’s soft-vowel diacritic marks (harakat) are positioned with most of them appearing on similar lower or upper positions to emphasize they are not part of letters.

Old English is a digital font that was produced by Monotype's design staff, circa 1990. But its roots go much further back: the face's design is based on that of Caslon Black, a Blackletter type cast by the venerable William Caslon foundry in England, circa 1760. This design has been popular throughout England for centuries. Its style of lettering, conveniently also called Old English, can be found all over the UK. Old English-style typefaces belong to the Blackletter category. They nicely combine the design attributes of both the medieval and Victorian eras. This is mostly because their Textura forms, which were born during the Middle Ages, became quite fashionable again in the late 1800s! This Old English font is very legible for a Blackletter face. Perhaps that is why it is more familiar to readers in the UK and North American than German Blackletter varieties, like Fraktur. A favorite once again today, Old English is ideal for certificates, diplomas, or any application which calls for the look of stateliness and authority. It's a sturdy and sure bet for newspaper banners, holiday greeting cards, and wedding announcements.

The Whimsies series goes further in our fixation with invented little people: the three dingbats of this series contain mostly imaginary situations, drawn first with ink on paper. All but a tiny fraction of the illustrations (a total of 114) have been drawn from one's imagination, with no previous models. The themes depicted here are varied and often humorous, though the humour is on the darker side, you are warned. The themes have a definite retro - victorian feel, with top hats, moustaches, long coats, walking canes and the like. Together with their close relatives, our Illustries, Bizarries, Ombres, Absurdies and Genteta dingbats (we give this bizarre collective the common name of Whimbats) you can use the Whimsies in an endless variety of projects, ranging from small spot illustration to whole pages, page spreads or posters applications. It was in the beginning of 2008 when I designed a font named Quijote, its predecessor. In the middle of 2009, I looked at it again and thought it could be a good idea to make an update of it. Variables and Features: Quijote Sauvage Pro is the most complete variable. It includes all the ligatures, alternates and swashes. It has the OpenType function in order to alternate glyphs easily when running applications which support this. The font is also offered separately. Quijote Sauvage Standard has the right glyphs to get an equilibrium between wildness and softness. It includes standard and discretionary ligatures. Quijote Sauvage Stylistic has the sharpest glyphs. Its decorative traces are discreet in order not to have problems as regards legibility. Its upper case are less wild than the other variables. Quijote Sauvage Text is the most discreet of its partners. This one was thought in order to improve legibility. Its ascenders and descenders are shorter, so the words are easier to read in small sizes. Quijote Sauvage Contextual, Swash and Titling, are the ones with wonderful terminals. They decorate words, adding a wonderful look of wildness or passion.

Vox Round is the softer version of the Vox family. The original brief for Vox was a extensive monoline typeface that can be both precise and friendly, yet contain enough choice of seamlessly interchangeable variants for the user to be able to completely transform the personality of the typeface depending on the application. Ribbon type. Holy grail of complex-lettering-turned typeface or an elusive Loch Ness monster that is often teased, possibly seen in the wild, but never confirmed? From the amazing lettering artist and author Martina Flor and masterful type designer Neil Summerour, comes the aptly named Ribbons. Ribbons is a sincere and well-conceived approach to providing a reliable solution to ribbon and ribbon-styled type for creative professionals when a lettering artist just isn’t available. Ribbons provides both flat and ‘folded’ options with the Regular and Fold styles, but then raises the bar with separate layer styles that will allow you to easily create the elegant back and forth movements produced with ribbon-style lettering we have all come to appreciate. The sources of inspiration for the Atyp typeface are spread out widely both stylistically and chronologically.
