While viewing a YouTube video of film footage in and around New York in the mid-1930s, one scene showed some people “window shopping” by the storefront office of the French Line, an international steamship service. A screen capture allowed the storefront sign to be recreated as the digital typeface Steamship JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A title font that looks better as larger the font size. First of all, it is designed for use in the upper-case format. Feature style: futurism, space, modernism, glyph variety (uniqueness (minimum automatic generation)). A kind of „s‟ in the lower-case format sets the tone and emphasizes the character, formed in the Prime Numbers Nebula — they determined its appearance, and influenced the style as a whole. Particular attention is paid to the kern: the kern table is formed manually, taking into account absolutely all the glyphs included in the font-family. Two types of stress (grave, acute) for all letter glyphs. The font contains basic Latin and several additional tables, as well as three types of quotation marks, a non-breaking space and a hyphen, a short, medium, and long dash. Carnaby Street is a vintage style bold font that pairs strong rectangular framing with softer rounded elements. Oswald Bruce Cooper designed Cooper Black, an extra bold roman face, based on the forms of his earlier typeface Cooper Old Style, which appeared with Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Type Founders in Chicago. Copper Black was produced by Barnhart in 1922 and acquired in 1924 by the Schriftguß AG in Dresden, where it was later completed with a matching italic. Although Cooper Black appeared in the first third of the 20th century, it still looks contemporary and it can be found on storefronts in almost any city scene. The flowing outer contours create forms that are both strong and soft, making Cooper Black an extremely flexible font.

I wanted to break apart from the usual Comic Sans like typefaces used for decades in Pop cultural mainstream Comics, and wanted something very sublime and independent in style concurrent to the the parallel digital media of Web Comic genre. Thus I created my own type to help translate the communication of my plot thicker to the plain old “Lettering” Font.

Subroyal was inspired by the official logo of the City of Montreal. The idea came to us while reading an article about a revised version of this logo that didn't have any original typography.
