Sometimes it was a kind of official propaganda, but often just a way of expressing of creativity of co-workers. The letterforms are bold and grotesque with strong handmade feeling. ArchiLogo is not a regular outline-font. It has a stencil element to it and it’s a kind of indirect, because the font is basically the space between the lines. You have to read between the lines, so to speak. It’s like one of the key elements in architecture: the space between the walls. Here’s where type design meets architecture! The new version, ArchiLogo 3.0, has been improved slightly and 13 glyphs have been added to a total of 85 characters. It is still a free font. Because of the popularity of this font I decided to introduce ArchiLogo Pro. Indeed, the pro version of ArchiLogo. Besides the basic Macintosh Character Set the supported languages are Latin 1, Latin 2: Eastern Europe, Turkish, Windows Baltic. It grew to over 300 glyphs.

Homeward Bound is a fat, grungy slab serif font - all handmade and inspired by a well known 1934 font. Together with sidekick Homeward Bound II, this baby will lighten up your day, bring you your newspaper and do your dishes to boot. Well, that may not be an accurate description of Homeward Bound’s abilities, but I am sure it will make your work stand out, giving it that ‘handmade eroded vintage’ look.

My kids like to read Donald Duck magazine. They have boxes full of old editions that we bought second hand. Most of the comics are well-used, but there are some in near mint condition. I thought it would be nice to create a font that mimics the lettering found in comics. Nightmare font is a simple attempt to convey the essence of a handwritten font with strong lines. In a real handwritten font, you would find more variation in line thickness, curves, and other design elements that contribute to the overall style. Creating a visual representation of a handwritten font using lines can be a bit challenging in plain text, but I'll provide a simple ASCII representation that may give you an idea of a strong handwritten style. Keep in mind that this is a very basic representation, and actual fonts would have much more detail and nuances.

We love sports – like billions of fans all over the world – but in Argentina, we really love fútbol (soccer). Fútbol is part of our culture: it makes our hearts’ race and our pulses quicken, it inspires screams of joy and screams of anguish, and it has been the cause of more than a few heated conversations amongst friends. So you can imagine our delight when, in recent years, a local team’s fútbol jersey used a Sudtipos font; it got us thinking about designing a font that explicitly had sports in mind yet still had the versatility to work for other types of projects. Sporty has a geometric and modular structure with many potential applications that far exceed jerseys, score boards and stadium wayfinding. Arturo is a brand new font family drawn from the original inspiration of an old alphabet in one of Dan Solo 's Dover Clip Art books. It has moved far away from those raw roots, however. Every character has been redrawn. For example, I had a light version that I never could get working. Arturo is based on that light style and called Arturo Book. The name comes from a good friend of mine in El Paso. He was the guinea pig upon whom I foisted off the beginnings of this style so many years ago. I did several marketing pieces for him using the raw drawings. I figured that he deserved to have the family named after him, at the very least. This is a normal font family for me in that it has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the set for 2009. The concept for Vista began when I sketched a few characters in a notebook while staying in Sumatra on a one month holiday. I wanted to design a typeface for text and display that would retain some of the characteristics of the idiosyncratic shop signs that surrounded me in Sumatra. - Xavier Dupré The result is a comprehensive family spanning six weights, complete with small caps and lively alternate forms, striking a healthy balance between functionality and expressiveness. Each of the six weights includes alternate, small cap and italic variants for a total of 36 fonts in the family. They are available in a full volume of 36 fonts, or in four packages. The packages are grouped into two sets of contrasting weights, with the alternates and small caps divided into separate packages.

The Algerian designer Taouffik Semmad created the fonts in 1997. Taouffik Semmad grew up speaking Algerian-Arabic dialect and French, studied Russian, and is now living in Montreal. This could perhaps explain his current passion, to "find a universal writing", which he admits is a Utopian idea. Created with brush and Chinese ink, the characters of ITC Atmosphere came from Semmad's hand but only after they were fully formed in his mind's eye.

As Paul has lately found inspiration from different German instructional books, Newbery Sans finds its initial inspirations from the lettering work of E. I recently walked part of the South West Coast Path in the UK. A couple of days in the hike, I came across a small cafe and I decided to have an oat latte (I am lactose intolerant). Since it was early in the morning, the breakfast menu was out and one of the items I noticed was ‘Overnight Oats’. I normally cook my oats with some lactose free milk and water, but apparently you can soak them overnight, add fruit and nuts and eat it like that. I tried it, it’s ok, but I think I prefer the cooked version. Overnight Oats is a bit of an odd font: it is very higgledy piggledy, yet legible and unique. If you want something out of the ordinary, then this may be your font!

I am a coffee person, but two years ago, just before the whole Covid-thing happened, I came down with what I assumed to be the flu. It was a really nasty flu as well: I was down for 10 days or so and when I sort of recovered, nothing tasted the same. Coffee tasted like cardboard and I couldn't stand the taste of it, so I decided to drink tea instead. The 'supermarket tea' we have in Holland is quite bad and tasteless, so I ordered some proper strong English tea online and I have been drinking it ever since. Of course I was thinking of this when I created Imperial Tea font. Imperial Tea font was made with... yes, you've guessed it: Chinese ink and a brush. Imperial Tea is a nice, 'oriental-ish' looking font that comes with a set of alternate glyphs and an impressive language support, including Vietnamese and Greek.

Copenhagen has been in need of a typeface that unites the city’s many visual expressions. The three designers Morten Rostgaard Olsen, Henrik Birkvig and Ole Søndergaard have designed and developed the typeface FP København. Chocolatte font is a yummy, creamy script font, made entirely with chocolate.. No, sorry, that’s not true. It was made with a pen, but I thought I’d create a nice urban myth. Chocolatte is a pretty useful font: you can stick it on your X-mas cards, write a little poem with it and surprise the love of your life with an enormous amount of chocolate, decorate your cake with it (preferably a chocolate cake) or use it for your… well, whatever. Just remember that this delicious font cannot be eaten, but it does come with copious amounts of diacritics for all you chocoholics out there!

The family of Tipografia Maracatu was born in 2020 when we could not leave the house because of the coronavirus epidemic. I had no idea how it would turn out. I just wanted to draw letters. When I finished the regular version, I thought it looked a lot like the art and music from the Northeast of Brazil, and that is why I came up with the name Maracatu. Maracatu is a musical-style original from the Northeast of Brazil. After I had the font style and the Regular version, I thought it would be nice to have Bold and Light.

Inspired by a find a coarse but decorative font was created. "Fundstueck" ist the German term for it. Fonts can be so simple. That is what I was thinking as my attention was turned to this rusty piece of metal. Only a few centimeters in size, I couldn’t imagine which purpose it might truly serve. But my eyes also saw an E, even a well-proportioned E: a width to height ratio of approximately 2/3, black and fine strokes with a 1/2 proportion — could I create more characters on this basis? Thought it, did it. The form is based on a 5mm unit. The strikingly thick middle stroke of E suggests that the emphasis is not necessarily placed on the typical stroke, and likewise with the other characters. But if the font is going to be somewhat legible, then you cannot leave out slanted strokes completely. Eventually I found enough varying solutions for all letters of the alphabet and figures. A font designed in this way doesn’t really have to be extremely legible, which is why I forwent creating lower case letters. Nevertheless, Fundstueck still contains some diverse forms in the layout of upper and lower case letters. Thus, the typeface is a bit richer in variety. By the way — the “lower” letters with accents and umlauts stay between the baseline and cap height. And with that, you get wonderful ribbon-type lines.

Introducing Promenade – a calligraphic serif that started on paper with a flat nib pen (see the 6th image), and blossomed into a full serif with italics. At its core, this font is just... beautiful. It's elegant, it's crisp, it's delicate, but can still hold its own. As I was creating the graphics, I just couldn't get over the flow of the letters – especially the italic. It's got class, but also isn't afraid to rock a pair of Doc Marten's. Funny enough, Jen from Tonic (they make beautiful websites) saw a preview of this font and said, "I'd take that font to prom." Which of course spurred a conversation about how this font would take a Mercedes G-Series instead of a limo, and wear Doc Marten's instead of heels, but still wear the most gorgeous dress, and that is 100% Promenade (and inspo for the name – thanks, Jen!). I've also been loving combining the regular and italic, especially for logos (see the "Friendfolk" logo) One thing to note about Promenade is the letter spacing. It was spaced for clean reading and intentional balance, so I recommend setting the spacing a little tighter if you want to create the display look found in many of the logo mockups(around -20 to -40 should do!).
