The highest and windiest mountain of Provençe is the Mont Ventoux. That is where I saw a pretty windy signpost in a very windy typeface that inspired me to design Ventoux. Manito was designed by Garrett Boge in 1989. He employed a wide pen and angular, sturdy forms to simulate rough-hewn woodcut letters. The font, consisting of both capitals and small caps, provides an ideal graphic complement to collateral of a natural or environmental character. It is named after a native American word for 'Great Spirit'.

Skippy Sharp was drawn by Skippy McFadden in 1995 and faxed to Mister Chank Diesel. Here's a great old face from the H. W. Caslon foundry in London; a real workhorse. The lowercase is eminently readable, so you can set entire paragraphs to good effect. We don't recommend it for setting all caps, but we did take time to kern it well; so you won't get a jumble of ovelapping letters if you do.
