Medieval Times is a digital revival of an illuminated alphabet dating back to a text from the medieval period. Inspiration of the typeface Dalloway comes from Virginia Woolf's novel "Mrs. Dalloway". Some calligraphic features are incorporated to add humanity to this typeface. Because Woolf's writing style is very sentimental and personal, which somehow reminds me of the feeling of reading someone's dairy. Some other features of this typeface takes inspiration from flowers and plants, which is another influence from the book. Werdet Script is a calligraphic typeface, inspired by the samples of the calligraphy “Batarde” created the first half of the 19th century by the French calligrapher Père Werdet. It has expanded on the original samples, creating a complete typographic family with five weights. The typeface explores the power of Opentype to simulate a manual writing. Thanks to the "contextual alternates” function, ligatures, alternate figures, initials and final forms, are automatically configured to offer an aspect with human decisions to mechanically written texts.

You may be familiar with a caps and small caps type called Cruickshank. In Germany the same face was called Eureka. We took the small caps, which are not so overblown as the caps, and designed a lowercase to harmonize with it.

A new 100% handmade brush script font family with lots of swashes, alternates and extras. Caps letters in the script font can also be used as a separate font, so you are getting three, not two, fonts + some extras such as catchwords & design elements. Each letter was carefully traced by hand and have clear edges so both fonts can be safely used on a website (sans serif is 61kB and script is 150kB only!). The font is fully unicode mapped. Most letters in the script typeface have few different swash styles that can be accessed via OpenType panel of your application such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshope and even MS Word. Severe is a clean, contemporary, condensed, geometric font family. There are 2 fonts in the Severe family, Severe Lower Case and Severe Small Caps. This sans serif font carries the flair and mood our Schneidler Latein font family. HANNAH & CLAY | handwritten serif font After the love that MILK & CLAY received, I thought I would make a serif version for all you serif typeface lovers out there. It is the handwritten version of one of my favourite fonts 'hannah hannah'. I absolutely love how this turned out and the unpolished warm feeling this font has. It feels very high-end, but still approachable, inviting and grounded because of its soft edges and human feel. I hope you love it as much as I do xx

CS are the initials of Carsten Strinkau, a young German graphic and type designer who studied in Hamburg. CS Takashi is a hommage to the Japanese Manga artist Katsuhiro Otomo and his character/figure Takashi from the Akira-Manga. Takashi appears like Japanese kanji but looking more closely, you will read the Latin alphabet.

Beatrix Antiqua is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Francesco Canovaro. Beatrix Antiqua is part of the Beatrix Family that takes its inspiration from the classic Roman monumental capital model: its capitals are directly derived from the stone carvings in Florence Santa Croce Cathedral - where the serifs are often removed while keeping the variable width strokes. So, even if it’s basically a sans-serif, Beatrix keeps a subtle swelling at the terminals suggesting a glyphic serif - in the same vein as Herman Zapf classic Optima typeface. In the lowercase design, Beatrix references early humanist typefaces, keeping small calligraphic details (as the prolongation of the e nose) that are especially visible in the italics. While Beatrix Antiqua, the companion typeface to Florentia , slightly exaggerates its antique stylistical features, Florentia tries to mix those influence with a more robust & digital age ready design, featuring bigger X-height and an extended character set that covers over forty languages using the latin alphabet, as well as Greek and Russian Cyrillic.

Today's digital font technology has allowed renowned font designer and calligrapher Hermann Zapf to realize a dream he first had more than fifty years ago: to create a typeface that would come very close to the freedom and liveliness of beautiful handwriting. The basic Zapfino font family, released in 1998, consists of four alphabets with many additional stylistic alternates that can be freely mixed together to emulate the variations in handwritten text. In 2003, Zapf completed Zapfino Extra, a large expansion of the Zapfino family. Designed in collaboration with Akira Kobayashi, Zapfino Extra has a cornucopia of new characters. Full of texture and regal personality, Bell Martellus was derived from a book published in 1475 by Henricus Martellus entitled “Liber Insularum.” The writing style is based on the Carolingian Script created by the Emperor Charlemagne and his scribe, Alquin of York, in the 9th century A.D. This old world lettering comes with new world OpenType capabilities, including swash caps and small caps. The James Ford Bell Library at the University of Minnesota commissioned Bill Moran to develop this font as a means of introducing their amazing collection of rare books, maps and manuscripts to a wider audience. Once the historic script was fontified by Bill, it was forwarded to Chank Co, where we added some snazzy baubles for the discriminating typographer. Everybody can enjoy the antique genuine nature of Bell Martellus, but advanced OpenType users also get extra features in Adobe CS applications.

"Humanista" is the name of a multilingual chancery script font by Bertram Kaiser. The idea in this long-term project was to blend the boundaries between analogue calligraphic handwriting and designing a font digitally, while using all technical possibilities of modern type design. All glyphs were originally written with a broadnib and then carefully vectorized, creating a human charme inside the font. In this design you will find influences from great calligraphy masters like Hermann Zapf or Werner Schneider. The pro version comes along with a big variety of alternate glyphs, initial and terminal forms, swash capitals and ligatures, which gives you the possibility of designing individual text layouts. Inside the font you will also find a set of italic roman capitals plus fitting numerals and interpunction, which can be treated like a font itself. You can activate them through the Open-Type menue (stylistic-set 4) or set manually via the glyphs window (ADOBE applications). When using the feature "swashletters" make sure to also activate the feature "contextual alternates" to get an appealing textdesign with alternating swashletters. This font can be used for display sizes as well as for smaller textsizes like on Invitationcards or in magazines.
