This funny font was created inspired from a contract of sale for a field prepared by a French notary in the end of the year 1682 (December seventh). We have worked to transform the almost illegible original form into a contemporary usable typeface, but keeping the special "writhed" appearance. It is a "pro" font containing Western (including Celtic) Eastern and Central European, Icelandic, Baltic, and Turquish diacritics. The numerous OTF alternates and ligatures(about 5 different glyphs or ligatures for almost each basic lower case letter) made the font looking like a real various hand as closely as we can do it.

Peter started as a sketch in the static sans-serif tradition of Helvetica®. Then slight references to the calligraphic origin of type were added, giving it a more distinct character. Petras Script, the first digital script font created by the calligrapher Petra Beiße, has, for many years, met with worldwide success. Petra Beiße has resided for a long time in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she is working as a renowned calligrapher. It is rare that any of her scripts are transferred into digital format and sold worldwide as fonts. Because Petras Script became such a huge success, she decided to release Casanova Script Pro.

Jenson Oldstyle was designed by J. W. Phinney of the Dickinson Type Foundry in 1893. Jenson is based on the 'Golden Type' designed by William Morris in 1890 for his private press editions under the imprint of the Kelmscott Press. The original digital Lanston version of this face included a companion Oblique. This remastered set instead features a true italic based on the 1893 ATF italic version as well as a newly digitized Jenson Heavyface based on Phinney's design of 1899. Jenson Italic Pro features alternate lowercase forms based on ATFs then contemporary Cushing Oldstyle Italic.

My goal in designing Zentral was to create a distinctive sculptural font intentionally in Regular and Italic only. I believe Zentral Regular and Italic has the latitude and flexibility needed in most type scenarios without having to resort to multiple weights. Based on drawings of Medieval versals (capitals used at beginning of verses in manuscripts) by Frederic W. Goudy. Works beautifully as initials with Goudy Text Oldstyle. Uppercase only, no numerals or punctuation; several letters have alternates. Framed, inversed caps are also included. This version of Lombardy Capitals is purposely less regular and clean-cut than some available to maintain a more hand-drawn look similar to the irregularities that would be found in a Medieval manuscript. The alternates help contribute to that look.

The Bentele-Unziale letters are transcribed from letters drawn by Prof. Ernst Bentele which are displayed in Hoffmanns Schriftatlas (1952). The size of the original is matched when set at 84 pt.
