Phillip Kelly first drew the Croissant typeface in 1978 for Letraset. Back in the 1970s and 80s, Letraset's rubdown lettersheets were a popular means of designing with type. Today, many of these nostalgic classics are available in digital format. Linotype is pleased to re-present Croissant. This experimental typeface is built up out of round, brush-like strokes, creating heavy, and black letters. These forms are best used for display signage and headline text. If you are designing for a local bakery or donut shop, this typeface may be the perfect fit. The dark, heavy character that Croissant lends to the page is similar to Cooper Black , one of the most renowned American type designs ever produced. Surfnik - A Hand-Made Font Influenced by Vintage Surf and Beatnik Culture Surfnik is a hand-drawn font inspired by beatnik and surfing culture of the 1950s and 60s. A fun, loose design that’s typical of pulpy fanzines, movie posters and advertising of the era. From promoting the local surf shop, burger joint or drive-in, it’s a font that evokes a bygone era with a playful, nostalgic feel. Raniscript started out as an idea for a bold and strongly structured ronde style script with some contemporary touches. As I tinkered with various forms it took on a life of its own. Having an old world feel, it makes me visualize faded shop signs from India written in English. The name comes from a series of colorful vintage matchbook designs advertising the Flying Rani. You'll find Raniscript ideal for packaging, book titles, brochures or anything requiring a robust display treatment. It comes fully loaded for OpenType savvy applications. Three full sets of caps are included. By clicking the Titling button in Illustrator you can type using an all caps set that includes ligatures, case sensitive punctuation and language coverage. Other features include oldstyle figures, Central European language support, fractions, contextual letter substitution, swash characters, and ornaments.
