While DIN Display seems to retain DIN’s basic characteristics, it shines with its sharper corners and contemporary look. Completed in 2002, it was first released and published in Parachute’s award-winning 2003 catalog and immediately was a hit. It has been used successfully in magazines, corporate applications and packaging in fields such as music, fashion, technology, visual arts. The ‘Pro’ series has been enhanced with more weights, multilingual support and opentype features in all different styles. Specifically, this superfamily supports simultaneously Latin, Greek and Cyrillic, while each one of its 15 weights contains 1197 glyphs and 20 opentype features. Quota is an investigation into the modularity of the Cyrillic alphabet. Unlike Latin and Greek, the Cyrillic alphabet owes much of its form to its development in early industrious printing and movable type. This lead the Cyrillic alphabet to be dominated by hard edge and straight lines, giving it a much more modular overall construction. The forms within the Cyrillic alphabet therefor allow for all the characters themselves to have somewhat unified side bearings without compromising ease of reading. Within Quota the default character set has only unified side bearing, giving a more relaxed mono-spaced appearance. While the first stylistic set unifies the entire character set with the same character width, creating a true mono-spaced typeface. Quota was initially designed in Cyrillic, catering to all languages using the alphabet. While the Latin was designed after, and is loosely based of the forms present within the Cyrillic alphabet.

The recipient liked the handwriting so much that he passed the note on to me after having asked permission from Debs, the writer. Nobody Home JNL is unusual in nature as it combines two vintage typestyles into one font. Both have been used for home and property identification for decades and still remain popular. Over the years the letters and numbers have been made of cast steel, aluminum, brass and plastic. The alphabet is in a distinctly bold, asymmetrical style, while the numbers almost take on a calligraphic feel. There is just a basic character set - alphabet, numerals and simple punctuation. While the font has been reasonably spaced and kerned, it's best to remember that neither type design was made with digital technology in mind, so it's suggested to adjust your layout manually for optimum results. Packing more copy in a narrow space is the main reason for using a condensed type. Characters with a more ovular shape tend to be less wide than their circular counterparts and will allow for more letters per line. In narrow columns for example, this typeface can provide up to 25% more copy than the regular typeface in the same space. Another reason is when a larger type size is called for — used sparingly it is useful for headings or headlines. For emphasis, narrower letters can provide a stark contrast in the flow of reading, creating impact while retaining typographic character. Condensed types can specially useful in tables and charts because typically both use few words in each block. If space now allows, you may think about the luxury of a larger point size. This optimizes space while keeping your typography more easily legible.

A high lower-case x-height geometric sans with open counters, Regulator Nova is extremely legible at text sizes and in extended settings while the range of weights also make it suitable for headlines. The name “Bicyclette” was chosen because this typeface is all about balance and elegance. The idea was to create a highly contrasted sans-serif family carefully balanced between gentle curves and sharp angles, with large capitals opposing uncommonly short lower case, through six distinctive weights. The letters are wide, and the capitals pop up in headlines while the lower case leaves a lot of white space between the text lines because of its small x-height. The edges are rounded (but not so much for the family to be called rounded), just enough to make the text feel slightly softer, gentler, while retaining some of that technical sans sharpness. The Bicyclette character set supports Western and Central European languages, and includes an extended set of monetary symbols. Each weight includes small caps, ligatures, proportional lining and oldstyle numbers, tabular figures, fractions and scientific superior/inferior figures.

Stat Text Pro retains many characteristics of its display counterpart, while giving readability a greater importance. It has simpler letter shape details which enable it to accomplish a constant rhythm whiles being read. Its main intended use is to accompany Stat Display Pro in places where longer passages of text are needed. In this way the visual character of the composition is retained and at the same time readability of text is given attention. As its display counterpart it has a large character set with multiple weights, which are defined by optimal size ratio, wide aperture and balanced counters. It contains nearly 700 glyphs, including diacritics, ligatures, small caps, old–style figures, arrows and more. This enables it to achieve wide language support. It consists of four weights (Light, Regular, Medium, Bold) which are accompanied by their corresponding obliques. While I was developing this font, my mother kept feeding me something she calls "Dream Cake". This indescribably delicious confection fueled my inspiration (there's nothing like a constant sugar-high to keep you going!) and the result is this cute little font. Dream Cake is casual in nature and as with all of my fonts, you'll find some quirky little twists to make your type projects interesting.

Lettering by an uncredited designer on a French travel poster from 1929 provided the inspiration for this ultrabold headline typeface, a curious blend of symmetry and asymmetry. The font’s small descender height allows tight line spacing while maintaining legibility, even in relatively small sizes. Both versions of this font include the complete Latin 1252 and CE 1250 character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

While watching a 1920s Charlie Chaplin short film, Jeff Levine was taken with the unusually modern looking lettering of the title cards in that silent movie. The lettering was not only right for its time, but could also be adapted to both Art Deco and Techno applications. From this classic film comes the font Two Reeler JNL, a bit of yesterday with an eye toward the future.

Sheet music from 1910 with another one of those ridiculous thirteen word titles (“I Love My Steady but I’m Crazy for My “Once-in-a-While’”) had the lengthy verbiage hand lettered in a bold serif typeface with slightly spurred serifs. This has been recreated in a digital typeface with a much shorter name: Weekend Date JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

I began my work on Emona while still struggling with Birka. I took the superellyptic form as the basic shape, and that gives the typeface some of its characteristics. It is strictly vertical. It is easy to classify it in the same section as Bodoni & Company. Emona is what Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, was called in the Roman days. Emona was released in 1992.

Cheddar Gothic Rough is a hand-drawn, textured display all-caps typeface with condensed proportions. The uppercase characters add distinction with extended crossbars and chiseled terminals, while the lowercase provides a more classic sans serif appearance. The Calm Gray typeface is a book font with good readability. It is relatively bright, has a gentle rhythm and neutral expression. Diogenes is an elegant and crisp text typeface. While the skeletons of the individual characters are distinct and strong, the serifs are fine and sharp. An ad spotted in a 1960 issue of Billboard magazine promoting a 45 rpm release by Randy Lee doing the old song "Did You Ever See A Dream Walking?" featured the song title in a casual, brush lettered style. While the ad made a perfect model for a digital font design, the record itself tanked. Quick Titling JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Project Soft is the more playful version of our 2017 release, Project Sans. The font features the same 10 weights and matching italics but while the Sans version was more structured, the Soft version shows a cheeky side that creates a vast array of potential. The font still features substantial language support as well as specifically designed italics that feature a unique look for certain characters.

ITC Bauhaus was designed by Edward Benguiat and Victor Caruso in 1975. They based it on a prototype face drawn by Herbert Bayer in 1925 while he was teaching at the Bauhaus School in Dessau, Germany. ITC Bauhaus has simple geometric shapes and monotone stroke weights. The rounded, open forms and quirky geometric gyrations of ITC Bauhaus will make contemporary graphic designs look both fun and stylish.

Oculi Magni is a new sans serif type family of 8 weights with italics. This font was specially designed for the composition of texts in small size as captions or footnotes but the thin and black weights can also be used in display sizes. The x-height, as tall as possible, allows the composition of very tight, very dense texts while maintaining a perfect readability.

Sprouts is probably best described as "Bonsai-Nouveau". It's designed to look 100% organic up close, while maintaining good readability even at a distance.
