This typeface came about when playing with felt tip marker settings in Corel Painter and is derivative of my own handwriting. Up until Workstation Clutter, all of my fonts were designed on paper, then scanned or reproduced into a digital format. With the use of Painter, the non-digital steps were removed, making this the first fully-digital Zang-O-Fonts typeface. Brian J Bonislawsky of the Astigmatic One Eye Typographic Institute helped round out the character set and additional needed characters. The name was inspired by an ex-girlfriend's disorganized desk.

Tea Time JNL was inspired by the hand lettering on the 1931 sheet music for "When I Take My Sugar to Tea".

Linotype Textra is a clever twist on the sans serif genre, designed by Jochen Schuss and Jörg Herz in 2002. Schuss says this about Linotype Textra: "Two in one! The same Linotype Textra, which is so neutral and practical for long text passages turns into an eye-catching headline type when used in larger point sizes. The trick? It's all in the details. The type's clear, robust forms give it a high degree of legibility when used in smaller point sizes for texts. When used in larger sizes, the angular, slightly irregular forms that give the type its strong character become apparent. Hence the name Linotype Textra: pure text with a little something extra!" With 15 weights, the Linotype Textra family provides graphic designers with a good basis for almost any type of work. Book Country first appeared on a poster for "New York is Book Country". It was inspired by the lettering of Ben Shahn protesting the 1927 execution of Italian radicals Nicolo Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. The letterforms effected an urgent and powerful message. The font includes a derived lower case and an OpenType contextual feature which maintains the rhythm of the uneven baseline when characters repeat to mitigate the stiff, mechanical feeling that occurs when casual lettering is typeset.

This font is a clean, modern sans serif bold. Named after “De Rotterdam”* this huge and super cool building (read the story below). Great for headlines, Posters, Flyers but also well legible at small size in large texts. Contains All European language accents and characters. --- The Story --- *This complex is located in the Kop Van Zuid district of Rotterdam, on Wilhelminapier. I was lucky to see this building from the beginning (2009) growing up (2013) That time when I was working and living here. I was always amazed by the design and how huge it is every time I took a look at it while driving or walking on the Erasmus Bridge. When I was going to work or just hiking around the city. It has a special meaning and message for me: I started creating fonts in my free time in 2010 when I came to this city to work. I was factory worker, dishwasher etc. I grew together with this amazing construction from brick to brick, step by step. By the time its construction finished, I was able to quit my day job and become a full time freelance designer.

Inkster breaks all the rules. The serifs vary from letter to letter, if they have any serifs at all. The upper and lower case letters intermingle and the contrasting characters bounce all over the baseline. Loosely based on the character shapes of Frisco, I developed a tightly spaced calligraphic version and called it Inkster. Use this artistic font when youre looking for a distinctive style!

This is not Hollywood. You may be surprised but I am not inspired by the famous Hollywood sign for this type but a grid on a roof of Barcelona. I walked down the street observing the architecture of buildings in the area of the Marina when I saw a grid on a roof. One of the workers put a board on them and the magic happen. Hollywood 69 is now free with 99 !

Midnight Terror Font has powerful and solid stroke brush styles that speak to the instant nightmare sensations when you place them into your horror design project. It was inspired by horror and thriller movie posters from the ancient age.

Hollander is a refined, yet sturdy text typeface designed by Gerard Unger. The name stems from the font’s similarity to the types attributed to van Dijk and Voskens, two Dutch punchcutters from the seventeenth century. Like those earlier Dutch types, Hollander has generous proportions, a tall x-height, and high contrast between thick and thin strokes. It was designed to work in the early arenas of digital technology, when letters were generated as coarse pixels with a cathode ray tube in the typesetters of the 1970s, and then as finer pixels with a laser beam in the machines of the 1980s. Hollander has a well-drawn stability that maintains legibility even on inferior quality paper. When used as a display face, Hollander is an excellent companion to one of Unger’s most successful text faces, Swift.

Daiquiri is a revival of a handlettered font in two weights, from an ad for Puerto Rico Rum dating back to the forties or fifties. I found the ad on a French antique market on my last visit for Mardi Gras in Nice. The ad read "Breeze through the heat, be a Daiquiri fan". That's why they had this "fan" in the illustration! Did they want you to rotate like a fan when you had enough Daiquiris? Or did they just do it for that little "Jeu des mots"? Anyway I found the handlettering very pretty, so I took those few letters and made a whole font out of them. I think Daiquiri has that touch that brings those happy and uncomplicated times back when advertising was still fun. I started something like 20 years later in advertising and things had gotten more stringent. We already had to satisfy those marketing guys with their scholarly attitude. They have taken all the fun out of the job, for the creators as well as for the consumers. I would like to see more uncomplicated ads like this again, yours Gert Wiescher

Dez Now Sans is a humanistic typeface family that was begun in 2005 by Chris Lozos of Dezcom. Since then, it has been nurtured, revised, and expanded to include 12 weights in both upright roman and true italics totaling 24 variations. This allows the user to choose the weights which best work for type-size, output device, and reproduction process. There is often a difference of opinion on what the best weight to use for normal text when setting type. The truth is, there is more than one answer. When you consider the size, weight, leading and set width—along with paper and ink specifications, you may find the need for several. The subject matter of the text with the specifics of the target audience, also increase the demand for expanding choices. Barnhard Brothers and Spindler called this typeface Congo when it appeared in their circa-1910 type catalog. The design is characterized by strong Art Nouveau influences, tight spacing and a large x-height.

Chank claims to have the fastest type design, we think we have the youngest. Samuel was merely four years old when he wrote out his first face. We are expecting many more brilliant typefaces from this upcoming designer. Please note that this font has no numbers or punctuation symbols; Samuel just did letters at that time.

Cuckoo was first seen in 1988 when I painted it on a record shop's window. Since then this hand lettered font has been there and done that. Cuckoo is strong, classic and informal display font designed to work well on any job.

Catskin is a fairytale by The Brothers Grimm. The story is about a king who has a beautiful wife and daughter - you know, the basic fairytale stuff. Long story short: they all live happily ever after (except for the wife, who dies…). Catskin is also a nice, handmade font. I like making fairytale fonts, especially since I have three kids, who love books. And when I see one of my fonts on the cover, I can tell them: ‘daddy made this’. #prouddaddy ;-)

This was a patented design, so we know who designed it and when. August Will was a type cutter who sold his work to a number of foundries. We worked over this design to open up the space between the strokes to accompdate smaller sizes.

Handu, designed by Alex Jacque in 2012, is an affable hand-drawn sans-serif inspired by the hand-painted type and signage on the streets of Kolkata, India. Fitting then that it come to life with brush and paint. When used for display purposes the organic, painted texture of Handu's glyphs really shines. At smaller point-sizes the hand-drawn aesthetic still translates. Handu comes in two styles, regular and shadow. Use each independently or overlay them for a little youthful emphasis.

Oceanshore is a modern display sans typeface with stencil characteristics and based on geometric shapes. That when combined gives the font a retro-futuristic look and makes it ideal for big and catchy editorial headlines. I was listening to the radio and a song caught my attention. It was ‘Demagogue’ by a band called the Urban Dance Squad. That song brought back memories from when I was a student, so I decided to name this font after it. Demagogue was made using a Sharpie pen and a piece of expensive paper. The result is a very legible, very neat and very bold font. Demagogue is ideal for when you want to get your message across, but hopefully not in a demagogue-ish way! ;-)

You can't go wrong with this classic Swedish calligraphy font, created by veteran designer Bo Berndal. He named Gertrud after his better half, but was also inspired by old handwritten documents: "Gertrud is a calligraphic letter design from the 16th century. I used it when I engrossed diplomas with a flat-nibbed pen in the 1980's. When I got my Mac I generated the typeface in Fontographer." Gertrud (the typeface) comes in three weights, with roman and italic. It is an OpenType creation, for both PC and Mac. Swedish type foundry T4 premieres new fonts every month. Gertrud is our sixth introduction.
