A Trollkatt in Norwegian myth, is the cat associated with witches. The last few days a stray ginger cat seems to have adopted us - she comes into the house, lies down on the carpet and loves the cat food we bought her. We have posted some ‘found a cat’ messages online and hung op some flyers - just in case someone is missing a cat. Because of the stray, I decided that I should name this font something cattish, so Trollkatt is what popped up. The font is quite nice; I made it with my Chinese ink and a brush, from which I cut most of the hairs. This font won’t catch mice, but it will put some magic into your designs! And the stray cat… well, if she isn’t chipped and no one comes to fetch her, we will keep her. #happyending

More Printing Helpers JNL gathers another assortment of vintage printing embellishments and ornaments from the late 1800s. Within the standard twenty-six alphabet keys are pointing hands, corner pieces, border elements and decorative center and end pieces. On the lower case, certain elements have been flipped or inverted for matching effects. Some additional positions are available on the 1 through 9 keys and on the colon and semicolon. A bonus to this font: three expandable panels. the first (with decorative end caps) is attained by typing the left parenthesis for the left side, the hyphen for the center lines and the right parenthesis for the right side. Its characters draw inspiration from Erbar Grotesk by Jakob Erbar and Johnston by Edward Johnston; hence, in heavier weights, the “f” and “t” bars are pointed which honor Erbar’s work, and Supera’s uppercases and numbers reflect Johnston’s proportions and features. The result is a sans serif family with both, a historical and modern touch perfectly suited for all types of graphic works. Super Gothic comes in 9 weights plus its matching italics and is equipped with a large range of opentype features. Fun fact, Erbar had attended calligraphy classes carried out by Anna Simons, who was a former student of Johnston (Tracy, 1986). Maybe in modern times, they had met through social media, and some collaborative work would have risen, who knows.

Dextor Script is a new carefully crafted and nicely balanced curves on a script typefaces with personality. You can use it as a logo, badges, insignia, packaging, headlines, posters, t-shirt/apparel, greeting cards, and wedding invitations. The flowing characters are ideal to make an attractive message. Mix and match Dextor Script with a bunch of alternative characters to fit your project. The alternative characters in this font were divided into several OpenType features such as Stylistic Alternates, Stylistic Sets, and Ligature. The OpenType features can be accessed by using the OpenType program such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. That’s it! Glosa is a type family designed for editorial purposes. Glosa is delicate and highly readable at very small sizes but reveals all its strength and personality when used at big sizes. The contrast of the sharped serifs and ball terminals provides a fresh and very contemporary look. Glosa Text is a bracketed serif, softer, smooth and less idiosyncratic, suitable for text settings. Both styles have four weights and italics in a workhorse typeface, full of OpenType features such as Small Caps, Tabular Figures, Central European characters and Historical Figures, among others. Glosa Headline is ideally suited for nameplates and headline typography, with four weights and with lowercase matching the small caps. In Glosa most of the diacritics were designed to fit the gap between the x-height and the caps height, avoiding some common problems with the accented characters.

It was my first attempt to drawing a Hebrew alphabet to mach directly with other typeface (Latin) which I already designed. The Latin version is an handwriting display typeface influenced by chancery handwriting from the Italian Renaissance (broad-nib pen). One of the most typographic characteristic is there wavy forms, especially the serifs, where contains some of the main calligraphic references from this font family. The Hebrew script contain reverse contrast, the vertical proportions are more tall and the stroke weight is slightly more strong than latin lowercase to produce a correct visual balance between them, especially on small sizes (text proportions). This Hebrew square book-hand was influenced by Sephardic script style. The Latin characters contains interrupted strokes, the same was made for Hebrew letterforms to transpose correctly the same calligraphic approach between these two different alphabets.
