Cindie Mono is a multi-width display font. Six different widths – A (condensed) through F (super extended) – mathematically correspond with one-another creating a stackable type family. Each face contains all caps full West, Central and East European language support. All diacritics and marks are done in a hairline to add style and contrast. And Cindie Mono is ideal for posters, headlines and display lettering. The inspiration for Cindie Mono came from the lettering styles on optometrists sight-test posters. The design of Kristall Grotesk is based on a cut by Wagner & Schmidt, Leipzig, from the 30s of the last century. The basis for the digital version of the Stiftung Werkstattmuseum für Druckkunst , Leipzig was the standard font (28p) of the manual cuts as offered by the font foundry Johannes Wagner, Ingolstadt. The implementation was deliberately created as a replica to create a faithful reproduction as a starting point for the design of other design sizes. To enable the OpenType Stylistic alternates, you need a program that supports OpenType features such as Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe Indesign & CorelDraw X6-X7. There are additional ways to access alternates, using Character Map (Windows), Nexus Font (Windows), Font Book (Mac) or a software program such as PopChar (for Windows and Mac).

To be independent or to be dependent? The formula “one plus one is one” is here essential for this to work. The different cases, upper and lower is dependent on one another. To give us clarity they have to work together, to be like one the upper and lower cases must work together. Expedition One works best in InDesign or equivalent software. How to use it: write your text in lower case, copy the text frame and ”Paste in Place”, change your lower case text to upper case (you do that under top menu->type->change case). Change colour if you want to and maybe change the blending mode in the effects window to “multiply” makes it even more sparkling. On numbers and ampersand for example, you have to use the glyph window in InDesign to find their second half.
