Maged, a traditional-style Arabic text face, enjoyed widespread popularity as a dry-transfer typeface prior to being licensed by Letera Arabica to Linotype-Hell for font production. In consultation with the Linotype Design Studio (U.K.), the artwork was redrawn by Adrian Williams to render the typeface into a complete, unitized Arabic font with a full complement of traditional-style ligatures suitable for digitization. Maged, which has two weights, first appeared as a 202 font in 1987 before its eventual conversion to OpenType in 2005. Thus Linotype’s Maged font can be described as a trend-setting modern Naskh design that retains a sense of the fluidity of Naskh calligraphy: the letters, when composed, appear as freshly-written text characterized by rich, inky horizontals, tapering swash strokes and contrasting delicate ascenders. The Bold exploits these features of the Regular without excess, tempered by the need for clarity at smaller sizes. The February 19, 1923 issue of The Film Daily contained an ad for Mack Sennett's new Ben Turpin comedy entitled "The Shriek of Araby". No doubt this was a spoof of the popular Rudolph Valentino film "The Sheik". The ad tries to emulate Mideastern or Arabic typography via a standard Western alphabet. Dnipro is a version of experience generalization of Ukrainian decorative font creation. The generalization development was initited by Georgy Narbut and Mark Kirnarsky in the 1920s and continued in 1970-80s. Alter Aves type is the first part of AlterType project – the serie of small display typefaces based on letterings, left-off types and altered foundry typefaces. Alter Aves is display condensed sans-serif typeface with couple of geometric-round letters, serif-styled elements and flat brush strokes. It supports Latin Extended-A (Western, Central Europe, Baltic, Turkish) and Cyrillic encoding languages and minimal opentype features – oldstyle digits, case sensitive punctuation, small-numeric forms and scripted fractions. Fully functional Demo style is distributed free for non-commercial using.

Blackthorn draws on the tradition of Art Nouveau font design with some elements of western or circus style fonts, but an overall effect which may have more in common with the psychedelic era than anything else. It has a feel somewhat akin to some of the lettering of Alphons Mucha particularly the Abaddon and Gehenna fonts. It's very stylized and kind of wicked looking. You can see where the name comes from if you note the thorn-like spurs on the upper part of each character.
