Csemege is a fully cursive even script inspired by Hungary's 60' 70's shop signages of mostly food and grocery stores and restaurants, and their neon light scripts. Csemege means Delicatessen in Hungarian. I have developed this set of characters with Contextual alternates and a few Stylistic alternates to make the letter connections smooth and perfect. It has a friendly look yet decorative and elegant script. For best result please make sure you are using this font with softwares that supports open type features and you have these features turned on: Contextual alternates, Stylistic alternates and Standard ligatures. Orto is a type family of sans serif fonts in eight weights. It's a humanist typeface with real cursive, containing both Roman and Italic styles. The letters are designed to look good on screen, they have a bit narrower proportions and simple shapes. Their structure is based on flat horizontal and vertical strokes, which are emphasized wherever possible. That’s where the name comes from: Orto is an abbreviation of the word orthogonal. Thanks to its narrow width, the typeface is less space-consuming and adapts well to the screens of smaller devices. It is legible in small sizes, thanks to the larger x-height. The characteristic details, like bent ends of diagonal strokes, stand out when used in larger sizes. Orto can be used equally good in print and its overall neutral look fits different contexts. However, its character is pretty recognizable. Orto contains Latin and Cyrillic script and covers six codepages: Latin 1, Latin 2, Cyrillic, Turkish, Windows Baltic and MacOS Roman. It has basic OpenType features like ligatures, oldstyle numerals, proportional and tabular lining figures, fractions, superiors, etc. Capital German sharp S shows up when the lowercase is typed between two uppercase letters, and the Contextual Alternates feature is turned on. The Stylistic Set 01 changes the shape of the Cyrillic b. The Stylistic Set 02 is a shortcut for using Serban Cyrillic alternatives that differ from Russian in cursive.

My first font for the summer of 2009, Abrect is a new sans serif font where I try to maximize the x-height and keep the design fresh and personal. It fits in with my continuing objective of designing book fonts that I can really use. Abrect is a tangent for me just taking an idea out to its end. In particular, it is a radical modification of my first font in 1993, Nuevo Litho. The hand-drawn shapes vary a lot, many pushing the boundaries of the normal character. With many of the new releases I see, the digital perfection is getting pretty extreme. It’s looking like a Rococo stage of development for many with decoration taking over from function. I'm consciously trying to head a different direction. This is not a normal font for me in that it has caps, lowercase, with the appropriate figures for each case, no small caps. This is the first time I have skipped small caps in over a decade. This font has all the OpenType features in the display set for 2009 except for the small caps. There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft tt ty Wh Th and more and many of them are experimental in form. Enjoy!
