RMU Gilgengart is a revival of Hermann Zapf’s beautiful calligraphic blackletter font which was cut and first released by Stempel in 1952. This font comes with fine ligatures and swash letters. Before working with this font it is recommended to activate both OT features Standard and Discretionary Ligatures in order to get access to all ligatures. RMU Gilgengart contains the following swash letters: D, L, h, f, g, k, round s, and t, whereby you should use the small letters at the end of a word or slogan only.

Hermann Zehnpfundt’s Enge Journal Antiqua, released by the Emil Gursch Foundry, Berlin, in 1910, revived and redesigned. This font contains also a long s, which can be reached by typing option + b, or turning the round s into the long one by using the OT feature historical forms. It is recommended to also use the OT feature discretionary ligatures to get access to all ligatures in this font.

Molecula is grotesque sans serif of slightly condensed proportions and humanist-grotesk features. The family features 9 weights from Thin to Black, each of which has an italic. The character set is robust, covering extended latin. All completely equipped with opentype features, alternative glyphs, fractions, lining numbers, small caps, subscript and superscript. Molecula has been designed for advertising, branding, packaging or anywhere a clean and contemporary voice is needed.

In the years 1937 and 1938 Paul Renner drew these both styles of the Ballade font family. Now freshly redesigned and extented for contemporary use, both styles have reappeared. RMU Edelgotisch is a carefully redrawn revival of the then trend-setting Schelter & Giesecke hot-metal original from the fin-de-siècle period. This fine vintage font elevates all your projects in an Art Nouveau style. It is also recommended to activate the OT feature discretionary ligatures.

A blackletter font by William Caslon (1692-1766), with Dutch influences, which appeared for the first time in a font sample book of William Caslon & Son, London, 1763. To access all ligatures in this font, it is recommended to activate both OT features Standard and Discretionary Ligatures. The round s occupies the number sign key, and typing N - o - period and activating this combination with the OT feature Ordinals gives you the numero sign.

Organicon is based on the geometric forms used in chemical formulas and tables. It is the best possible font for use in scientific areas because of its handwriting character and excellent legibility. Organicon was designed for the URW++ FontForum.

Hair is another beautiful URW++ FontForum contribution by Wojtek Ruhnau. It is a technically ambitious multi-line script-like type design that should be used carefully and in large sizes only. However, set properly, Hair renders beautifully and charmingly.

Inspired by a former Hermann Zapf design, Hanse Textura was completely redrawn and redesigned as an English-style blackletter font with a calligraphic touch. It comes also with the historical long s which can be reached either by typing [alt] + b or by using the OT feature historical forms. I strongly recommend to activate both OT features, standard and discretionary, to access all ligatures built in the font. The keys pi and product are occupied with beautiful border elements.

The result of a study into the Paris Metro system; Metro Sans is a Grotesk typeface with personality. It bridges the gap between the stern terminals of a Swiss Neo-Grotesk, and the smooth curves of a modern day Geo-Grotesk. The two combine to give a versatile typeface that works well in both body and display weights.

The design of Kristall Grotesk Now is based on a cut by Wagner & Schmidt, Leipzig, from the 30s of the last century as well as the digital version Kristall Grotesk MdK, created for the Stiftung Werkstattmuseum für Druckkunst. The implementation of the Kristall Grotesk MdK, a headline font, was deliberately created as a replica to create a faithful reproduction of the original. Montana is an elegantly playful handwritten font family with separate fonts for icons and illustrations included. This font is based on tight, condensed Grotesk typefaces, combining geometry and legibility with the originality of handwritten strokes. Silver Thread is a hairline thin geometric sans serif font with both art deco and 1970s elements to it. Perfect for any project that needs a typeface which evokes elegance and sophistication. An older typeface belonging to a family of sans serif fonts known as Grotesque (or Grotesk in the classic spelling) has been re-drawn by Jeff Levine and released as Album Cover JNL. The font's name is derived from the fact that this typeface was found on many long-playing record jackets during the 1950s and 1960s. To add a look closer to that of hand-set type, there are minute variants in some of the heights of the characters.

Another beautiful script design by German type designer Ralph M. Unger. Atramant is casual and easy, ideal for any setting in larger sizes. Still, due to its excellent legibility, it can also be used for short text blocks in smaller sizes. Atrament was originally designed for the URW++ FontForum.

Herbert Post’s (1903-1978) blackletter fonts redesigned for nowadays’ use. Both font styles contain adorning swash caps. Typing N, o, and period, and activating the OT feature Ordinals produces an oldstyle number sign.

This rather modern versions of a Gothic style blackletter were originally drawn by Georg Trump in 1936 and 1937 respectively. To access all ligatures, I recommend to activate both OT features, standard and discretionary ligatures.

New York to London via Europe The hardworking FS Koopman is a crossbred workhorse which draws inspiration from Swiss and Germanic grotesks, American gothics and early British grotesques, but refuses to fit neatly into any of these categories. Its neither one nor the other, but all of the above. Fontsmith designers Andy Lethbridge and Stuart de Rozario decided to take the characteristics they admired from each category and distill them down into one functional family. Neo meets Neue FS Koopman aims to swim against the tide of Helvetica-ish derivatives by bringing some personality and soul to a genre that all too often ends up feeling bland and sterile. FS Koopman subtly embraces the quirkiness and charm often seen in early twentieth century designs but pairs this with the functionality of later pioneers of the genre. It’s a grotesque isn’t it? The term grotesque surfaced around the early 1800s and refers to the early sans serif designs that many initially believed were strange or ‘grotesque’ due to their lack of elegant serifs. Later variations became known as neo-grotesques and this moniker stuck around even after they gained mass popularity. Some American variants became known as gothics. FS Koopman takes cues from all three categories and blends them into one cohesive design.

HK Requisite™ is a sans serif typeface inspired by the compactness of Neue Haas Grotesk and the strong character of Akzidenz Grotesk. The name came from the fact that fonts are elements that are necessary for the achievement of a specified end.

Foundry Context is a sans serif family designed to be universal in many contexts – hence the name. A ‘no-nonsense’ typeface, reminiscent of 19th century sans serif faces, Foundry Context has very round, pure letterforms, crafted without being over refined, and having minimal stroke contrast in the neo-grotesque style. A hint of personality has emerged from the very drawing of the proportions, strokes, and terminals, yet Foundry Context is still neutral enough to compete in the grotesk arena, and at the same time has something new to say.

Nurom is a contemporary sans-serif typeface influenced by the early grotesque style which is neutral and legible in purpose with a fresh personality. The goal wasn't about historic revival; it was to make a new Grotesk that could compete in an overcrowded market while offering strength, clarity and function across a vast array of applications. Details include six weights (bold free), a regular italic, and over 400 characters per style. Opentype features include decimal figures, fractions, case sensitive punctuation and language support for Western, South, and Central Europe.

TipTop Pro’s origin goes back to around 1900 when the font was released by the German foundry Julius Klinkhardt in Leipzig. Ralph M. Unger redesigned this beautiful art nouveau typeface, extended its character set and digitally remastered it. TipTop Pro fits perfectly into the series of recently released URW++ art nouveau designs (Edda, Gradl, Impression, Joga, Ornella).

Rhapsody is clearly showing Unger's love with Blackletters and Gothics. Other than many of the existing Blackletters, Rhapsody is really easy to read. The calligraphic forms of the upper case in connexion with its lower case appear very special, very unique. Rhapsody, having its origins in the 50ies, was redesigned, completed and expanded by Unger for the URW++ FontForum.

Inspired by Rudolf Engelhardt's Journal-Kursiv, released by Ludwig Wagner, Leipzig, in 1913, Kursivfraktur was freshly drawn and redesigned, and comes as one of those rare beautiful italic blackletter fonts. This font contains the letter long s which can be reached in two ways. Either you use the OT feature historical forms, or you type the integral sign [ ∫ ] on your keyboard. There are two graphic elements implemented, a corner element and a straight element for framing. The corner element lies on the Product sign [ ∏ ], the straight element you will find on the pi-key [ π ]. Furthermore it is recommended to activate the discretionary ligatures OT feature.

Trade Journal JNL and its oblique counterpart are derived from a classic grotesk sans face from the 1800s. Despite the 'Grotesk' style name, the font design is actually quite pleasing to the eye and a nice alternative to many of the sterile sans serif faces of today.

Burt is extended grotesk with condensed uppercase. Its combines modern bauhaus features with old grotesk details. And the X, what a banger! Well it actually is. In 1960 Ludwig & Mayer released this Matheis design which was completely redrawn, digitized and extended for most main European languages, West and East. To take advantage of all ligatures in this font, I recommend to activate both OT features, standard and discretionary ligatures.

Spekta is an unorthodox Neo-Grotesk typeface devoted to versatility and beauty. Originally designed as an all-caps display typeface influenced by Bauhaus and early grotesque forms, Spekta switched priorities and evolved into a well-equipped 8-weight workhorse boasting 667 characters and italics to boot. Amarissima is a display font inspired in vintage Italian signs of baker shops. Regardless its crafty inspiration, the construction remains highly mechanical and structured. Caleb Mono Font Family It is originally inherited from Caleb Grotesk. And, It is a reinterpretation of the proportional and grotesque sensibility of Glphs with a more modern and rarity feeling. Monospace fonts are a great choice for any designer who wants to create a retro, and minimalist feel. The disadvantages of ambiguous readability due to its wide width and mechanical placement are clearly present, but still attractive and elegant. To overcome these shortcomings, this font family gave variable side bearing values to each glyph and adjusted the width of the glyphs themselves. It is designed with a more human sensibility.
