Universo and Universo Stencil by Mauro Andrés and Peggo Fonts is a display font family for “Caos Sagrado” specially designed for informative fanzine and magazines. Its name “Universo” comes from the quote “we have to talk about the horrible things of Universe” with the main idea of supporting and help to expose social problems. Inspired on Retro-Futuristic fonts and poster design and old scientific publications that is becoming a new design trend nowadays, and strongly influenced by the Italian type designer Aldo Novarese’s work, developed in the 50’s. Tabac Slab was created by combining several contradictory influences, the result of which is a universal linear font. The combination of brisk serifs and refined calligraphic details in the structure of the characters serves to create an original concept that mixes influences from both book and advertising graphics. Serifs aid legibility in long texts, while small drawn details realise their full potential in sizes of twenty-four points and larger. The basis for our Egyptienne was Tabac Sans, with which Slab logically forms a harmonic duo. The addition of bracket-less serifs caused the typeface to thicken and become solidly anchored on the lines, giving a firm answer to all typographers who like to complain about the slight exuberance of grotesque fonts.

Huskeseddel is to-do list or memo in English. If you not already guessed it, the font is based upon my own handwriting. Actually not my everyday handwriting, but the kind I use when I make my to-do lists. But it wouldn't look right with a simple font with the same letters repeating all the time, and that's why I added 12 different hastily written versions of each letter. These 12 different versions cycle as you type, making your text look...well, like hastily written letters...you'll have to take a real close look to find out that you are looking at a font, and not a genuine hastily written to-do list! :)

A long time ago, I lived and worked in the English Lake District. When I first arrived there, I camped out not far from a neolithic monument called Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg Stone Circle is one of the most beautiful stone circles in the whole of Britain; the views are great and it makes for a nice walk from Keswick. This rather grungy font was made with a Sharpie pen I initially wanted to throw away, because it was dry, but then decided I could at least get one more font out of it. The result is Castlerigg - a rather neolithic looking all caps font. Castlerigg comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case.
