In parts of Africa, in the poorer, rural and peri-urban areas there are many small shops or convenience stores which are called "Spaza" shops. The owners of these shops often don't have access to commercial signwriting and write their signs themselves. The font "Spaza" is based on these hand-lettered signs. This lettering has a refreshing simplicity and spontaneity, yet retains great legibility. In the font "Spaza", there are three styles: - Spaza Regular - with normal upper and lower case; - Spaza Small Caps - in which the lower case is a true "small caps" and not a shrunken version of the upper case (generated by the operating system); - Spaza Double Caps - in which the lower case characters have been replaced by an alternate set of capital letters. The font thus contains two sets of differing upper case characters. You can use characters from both these sets to give a true feeling of randomness because if the same character occurs twice in a word, different versions of the character can be used. Spaza can be used with great effect in a great variety of applications such as advertisements, flyers, posters and in magazine pages. Spaza contains a full character set and has been carefully spaced and kerned.

Art deco The inspiration for FS Blake’s elegant, lightly geometric forms can be traced back to design of the 1930s; designer Emanuela Conidi was influenced by the typography of cool, European, art deco posters. Sketch book Great fonts still emerge from a combination of hand, paper and pencil. After filling her sketch book with ideas, Emanuela and Jason extracted the elements that both felt could work in a font. The process yielded a whole crop of starting points for future designs as well as a focus for FS Blake as a striking, characterful, almost industrial font.

Why Baka Expert? There’s actually a simple answer. The original Baka was done as an experiment of sorts. I wanted to quickly capture a rough, frenetic handwriting style that broke normal conventions. Commercially, it was successful, received some accolades ... but I wasn’t completely satisfied, so I went back to the master art and the lettering explorations and produced Baka Too. This addressed some of the line items I wanted to refine in Baka. I liked it. Each font has been out for a few years now, and I have seen them in use. I’m very critical of my work, and I could still see things—modulations of strokes, angle of the nib, ink swell, and so on—that I wanted to change, refine, and reorder. For me, it is typographic indulgence, but I wanted to take this handwriting ‘font’ and turn it into a robust ‘typeface.’ So I did just that and a bit more by adding back more of my initial flourish concepts; attaining tighter, consistent control of the modulation; optimizing points; adding titling options; and expanding the character language set. Baka and Baka Too had to exist to produce this entirely new re-envisioning of an old friend ... and they all play well together :)

Leo is an economic magazine and book face meant for use in sizes suitable for immersive reading, with different cuts optimized for different body copy size ranges, like footnotes and legal text. Designed with the explicit intent of relaying information without calling attention to itself, this typeface places itself squarely on the "function" side of the eternal debate about form versus content. The roman Leo fonts were built with as little ornamentation as possible, with wedge serifs, a high x-height and a skeleton somehwat rooted in the designers' reflections on the modern, post-war Dutch archetype. Rather than follow traditional models with entirely different forms, contracted widths and steep slants, the Leo italics deliver naturally subtle emphasis in reading by closely relating to the forms, stance and rhythm of their roman counterparts. OBO Classic is the second installment of the OBO series, a type collection based on a square. Every character is mapped on a 1x1 ratio which allows for horizontal and vertical settings alike. Or mixed, like crosswords. OBO Classic is a display interpretation of a traditional Old-style Serif. The “distortion” which maps each character to a square creates unusual proportions to what we are used to from classic serif typefaces. The result is a monospaced font. While each individual letter feels conventional on its own, when brought together in words the result feels contemporary. Thanks to the square base vertical and horizontal – and mixed – settings are possible and easy to apply. There are a few exceptions for certain punctuation and special characters that are half the width for better spacing; and the word space’s width can easily be adjusted through OpenType stylistic sets. Talking about spacing, for strictly horizontal typesetting there is the option to turn on kerning for a number of characters to create a cleaner texture across words and phrases. OBO Classic is best set in large sizes and is most comfortable in editorial and display settings. A series of icons complete the character set. A selection comes as pixel graphics which adds further contrast to the traditional legacy of the typeface.

The reason for Nicolien van der Keur to design the Rougon font was the translation of twenty novels written by Emile Zola, a French writer, and translated by Martine Delfos. It follows the lives of the members of the two titular branches of a fictional family living during the Second French Empire (1852–1870) and is one of the most prominent works of the French naturalism literary movement. This series deserved a font with French roots and corresponded to the period in which Zola’s books were written and published, the period between 1870 and 1893, the end of the nineteenth century. Extensive research into French historical typefaces has led to a type specimen from the French type foundry Deberny et Cie in Paris around 1907. It turned out to be good and helpful source as it contained a sample of a typeface that reflected the content and style of the novels, but also represented the period in which the books were written in France. A large part of the novels are about the generations of Rougon, so it seemed a natural choice to give the font that name. It is available in one weight and contains stylized portraits of Emile Zola and the French Marianne. This font also contains various ornaments.

Optimum readability in small bodies with scarce interlining, under poor printing conditions such as in newspapers, where velocity and bad quality’s irregular surface papers, truly distort strokes was the challenge taken. Pobla was designed with this in mind, hence Patau present a hybrid between the conventional strokes of a serif’s classical roman type and markedly “fractured” forms inside, providing a unique personality to this typographic family, where calligraphic’s humanistic axis is visibly broken with the straight axis of the fabricated letters. Subtle details in the serifs, give it a modern look to a classic skeleton. Very pronounced ink traps get the shapes rounded in the printed product to artificially increase the average medium-eye and promote reading in the small sizes it was designed for. An absolutely handwriting look for the italics, where the rupture of the stroke marks a white’s subtle change to only whisper in the printing surface a slight difference, but without fuss and so not to break the rhythm of reading. Awwam refers to the region of Awwam which is now thought by most scholars to be Ma'rib or the famous temple of Awwam otherwise known as Mahram Bilqis. The Awwam temple—Arabic Haram Bilqis or Mahram Bilqis—is a Sabaean temple near Ma'rib in today's Yemen. It was built by Mukarrib ‘Yada'il Dharih I’ between the 7th and 5th century B.C. Also, one of the most frequent titles of the God ‘Almaqah’ was the Lord of Awwam. Almaqah was the main God of the ancient Yemeni kingdom of Saba' and also the kingdoms of D’mt and Aksum in Eritrea and Northern Ethiopia. Different members of the ruling dynasties of Saba' regarded themselves as Almaqah’s children. Awwam is a wide and headline Arabic display typeface. DIN Stencil on Behance. DIN Stencil: Specimen Manual PDF. Despite the fact that over the years several designers have manually created stencil lettering based on DIN for various projects, there has never been a professional digital stencil version of a DIN-based typeface. After the successful introduction of DIN Monospace a few months earlier, PF DIN Stencil now completes Parachute’s extensive library of DIN superfamilies. It was based on its original counterpart DIN Text Pro and was particularly designed to address contemporary projects, by incorporating elements and weights which are akin to industries such as fashion, music, video, architecture, sports and communications. Traditionally, stencils have been used extensively for military equipment, goods packaging, transportation, shop signs, seed sacks and prison uniforms. In the old days, stencilled markings of ownership were printed on personal possessions, while stencilled signatures on shirts were typical of 19th century stencilling. Two companies dominated the market in the mid-twentieth century: the Marsh Stencil Machine Company in the United States and the Sächsische Metall Schablonen Fabrik in Germany. Ever since the late 1930s, it was the German Sächsische Metall Schablonen Fabrik which used heavily the new DIN 1451 standard font (introduced in 1936), attempting to overthrow the reign of the Didot-style modern roman which was at the time the most common stencil letter in Germany. These letters were manufactured mainly as individual zinc stencils which could be ordered in sizes between 10 and 100mm. The DIN Stencil family manages to preserve several traditional stencil features, but introduces additional modernities which enhance its pleasing characteristics and make it an ideal choice for a large number of contemporary projects. Furthermore, the spacing attributes of the glyphs were redefined and legibility was improved by revising the shape of the letterforms. The DIN Stencil family consists of 8 diverse weights from the elegant Hairline to the muscular Black. Currently, it supports Latin, Eastern European, Turkish and Baltic.

It can be tricky to find typefaces that can convey the feeling of personal warmth that comes from a handwritten note, custom brandings, special series of products, especially as we type more and more and write with a pen or pencil less and less. To add some more of that warmth to a font, I’ve made Ronet. A duo font based on the my handwriting. Double eponymous styles of the font —Ronet and Ronet Alternative— each have a unique flavor with its own rhythm and character. It can be used on branding designs, product labels, invitation cards, social purposes which is bloggers, influencers but they were capable of so much more, and I’m happy to share them for general use. “Nusaibah” is the first name of an early convert woman to Islam, and the first female to fight in defense of the Islamic religion. Her full name is Nusaibah bint Kaíab Al-Maziniyyah and she took part in the Battles of Uhud, Hunain, Yamama and the Treaty of Hudaibiyah with Islam’s prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Nusaibah is best known for her brave and heroic feat during the Battle of Uhud - fought on March 19, 625 - when she entered the battle carrying a sword and a shield to protect the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from the arrows of the enemy, and she accordingly received several wounds while fighting and these wounds were not healed until the following year. The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned her distinct courage by saying that in whichever direction he turned in the battlefield, he could see her defending and protecting him. Font Etruria is based on a real Etruscan inscriptions and realistic accurately simulates the writing of the Etruscans. The idea of the font Etruria is to give an opportunity for anyone to touch the past of mankind! The character of the Etruscan alphabet involves the creation of a font with only uppercase letters. However, I did not limit this font by that. Etruria has not only a lowercase is different from uppercase, but an additional sets of alternative characters. In General, the main characteristic of Etruscan writing is randomness and diversity of characters. Differs from lowercase to uppercase is only the first step on the road to make randomness effect. Next to the aid of the OT features. To recreate the randomness effect, in Etruria there are several OT features (Contextual Alternates, Stylistic Alternates and Stylistic Sets), which built a script to simulate randomness. Additionally, another script creates the effect of random positioning. Together they create incredibly realistic Etruscan inscription. Thus, any of these features can be disabled at will. I also used a small line spacing, because it is characteristic of the Etruscan writing. Actually the Etruscan writings is a mirror of the writings compared with the current European alphabets. I didn't use this feature all the letters, because this would make the font difficult to perceive, but to make the font characteristic of the Etruscan style, Etruria has a few letters in mirror image. However, if for someone it may seem unusual, mirrored letters can be disabled instead of them will appear more familiar to them. Another feature of Etruscan writing is the use instead of a space dotacentered. Font Etruria has this feature, there is a OT feature Stylistic set ss03. Naturally, it also can optionally be disabled. All these features can be used together, separately, or turn it off. The main goal achieved! The text typed in Etruria, creates full impression of these Etruscan inscriptions.
