The April 8, 1932 issue of The Film Daily ran an ad for a film entitled "The Sin of Lena Rivers". Hand lettered in a block style of chamfered characters, it is reminiscent of the 1920s, but still carries a touch of Art Deco influences with the thinner and extended horizontal strokes of the E, F and H. This retro sans serif design is now available digitally as Evil Ways JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

A contemporary interpretation of grotesque (historic) typestyle, relying on geometric shapes applied to a grid. Idiosyncrasies within the typeface are based on how this grid is constructed and applied rather than those inherent in drawing type with a pen or cutting from a block of wood. Other grot types retain the quirks of original woodcut typefaces. Elephant has a different vocabulary of quirks that remove it from being too reverential or constrained to a historic context.

This growing family of friendly faces is based on the typeface Bravour, designed in 1913 by Martin Jacoby-Boy for the D. Stempel AG foundry in Frankfurt am Main. The wide stance and very large x-height shared by the family members makes them warm and inviting, and equally suitable for use in headlines or text blocks. All versions of this font include the Unicode 1250 Central European character set in addition to the standard Unicode 1252 Latin set.

Inspired from Cambodia’s alphabet, Khmer. I tried to explore the visual of the original character in Latin characters. Inspired by 2 gothic fonts, Old London (for the modern/straight feel) and Berliner (for the dynamic between thin and bold line). The letters are made with pencil in a millimeter block book, then scanned into clean vector format. On April 20, 1950, film comedian Jerry Lewis indulged his love of cameras by opening up Jerry Lewis’ Camera Exchange on Vine Street in Hollywood. It closed in 1951. Thanks to an image preserved within newsreel footage of the shop’s grand opening night, a glimpse of the post-Art Deco signage with its unusual, block style lettering inspired a digital version. Carte Blanche literally means 'Blank Ticket'. Yeah, yeah, it is also a very 007-ish catchphrase, but I wanted to give this elegant font a 'stylish' name and Carte Blanche popped up. All glyphs were hand drawn on a rather expensive piece of heavy-weight paper and were put into the font in between changing nappies, bouts of the flu and the subsequent wiping of snotty noses. Blockrock is an OpenType typeface that lets you build letters right away. Use the different weights to construct 3-dimensional letter-buildings. It is inspired by the apartment living blocks in the center of East Berlin built in the 60s. The regular font contains more complex letter buildings, while the simple font has simplified and plain letters in two different levels. ITC Santangeli is based on an eighteenth century manuscript by Italian writing master Benedetto Santangeli. Giuseppe Errico's design exudes the elegance and patina of a baroque sculpture. Karl-Heinz Lange presented his first drafts of Rotola during a Typoart® type design competition in 1985 under the name "Boutique". A year later, Norbert du Vinage, former manager of the type design department, integrated "Boutique" in his production plan. Due the Fall of the Wall, it took about 18 years until Lange finished this font family in cooperation with Elsner+Flake. Karl-Heinz Lange was born on July 29, 1929 in Wiesenkirch in West Prussia. He was enrolled in the Humanistic Gymnasium at Elbing from 1939 to 1945 and changed to the Wernigerode High School after his family had to flee to central Germany. From 1949 to 1951, Karl-Heinz Lange studied at the Werkkunstschule Halle, where one of his teachers was Professor Post. After 1951, he continued his studies at the Hochschule for Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig with an emphasis on book design. He received his diploma in 1955 with distinction based on his design of a hot metal typeface. From 1956 to 1961, Karl-Heinz Lange worked as a lecturer for Type and Commercial Graphics at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Magdeburg. From 1961 to 1963, he taught at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, and finally as a freelance commercial designer in Magdeburg. He worked on a variety of assignments, one of which was the design of trick films. From 1969 to 1976 he took the position of Artistic Director of the Henschelverlag, Berlin; from 1976 to 1994 he was Professor of Type and Typography at the Fachschule für Werbung und Gestaltung in Berlin; and, until 2004, he taught at various institutes for advanced professional education. Karl-Heinz Lange was awarded the second prize at the "International Type Design Contest 1971" for a headline typeface, and, in 1984, at the XI. Biannual of Graphic Design in Brno, he won a Silver Medal for the design of his typeface family Publica. He created the telephone book typeface Minima and re-designed the Typoart Super Grotesk® (Arno Drescher, 1930) as well as the Newspaper typeface Magna® by Herbert Thannhaeuser for the use on digital typesetting systems. To the day of his death on June 29, 2010, Karl-Heinz Lange lived and worked as a type designer. The first design of Elensans consisted of 4 styles that are including two weights and their italics which I designed in my student years in 2002. It was designed with a little Art Nouveau style touch with inspired by classical geometric based fonts such as Friz Quadrata and Eras. It was updated with according to the orientations of the day in 2012 and eventually it took its final form with actual touches in 2020. The family has 18 weights, ranging from Thin to Black in normal styles and including their italics. It is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, editorial and publishing, logo, branding and creative industries, poster and billboards, small text, wayfinding and signage as well as web and screen design.

Breve was designed for use in editorial projects. Simple but with enough personality to stand by is own, in a quest for a more forceful and contemporary appearance. Breve was designed for use in editorial projects. Simple but with enough personality to stand by is own, in a quest for a more forceful and contemporary appearance. All the fonts in Breve superfamily, share the same exact structure, both in terms of anatomy and functionality. The Text versions provide a softer and warm feel to the typographic palette and is intended for use in much longer passages of text, while the Title versions are distinguished by non-descending letterforms, making the titles and headlines much more uniform and interesting. The News version is more classic, with ball terminals and classic proportions, while the Display is, somehow, the set of fonts we had to design: extra-black, ultra-contrasted, proud-display fonts.
