Inspired by an image of the chamfered block lettering of a semi-faded “ghost sign” for the Thomas Drug Co. in Thomas, Oklahoma, Local Druggist JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. “Ghost Signs” are the visible remnants of hand-painted signs on buildings where the original business had long closed or moved, yet the lettering had survived the passing years.

Wyoming Pastad is the simplest of the Wyoming series. The round letter shapes of Wyoming Spaghetti have moved toward squareness. The overall effect is that Wyoming Pastad no longer looks much like an “Old West” face. There are two shadowed versions of WyomingPastad. Using the ShadowedInside style in layers with the shadowed styles is an easy way to get two-colored letters.

African Jazz is an informal and vigorous font that moves to the rhythms of Africa. Its angular shapes are reminiscent of the syncopated jazz beat that grew out of the heart of Africa. Conveyor Belt was designed for an environmental paper made from sugar cane waste called bagasse. The paper mill use conveyor belts to produce the paper from when the bagasse gets loaded to the finished paper product. This was the inspiration for this font. It has some alternatives to give options for different words linking different letters. This is a moving font and flowing.

Nothing is as it really should be with Thursday Afternoon. Punch Tape JNL emulates the old-style pin-punched paper tapes that were used in everything from ticker tapes to moving electronic signage to early digital typesetting equipment. Pin punch characters were also used in the early days of banking as a secure way of canceling a check so that it was rendered useless if re-submitted. In this version, the "dots" are square rather than round.

Hutsulyandiya 2D family fonts comprise folk ornaments found on Hutsul ceramics of the mid 19th to early 20th centuries. Hutsulshchyna is an ethnic region in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains where folk art and indigenous culture preserve up to nowadays. All images are to the maximum approximated folk prototypes. The graphics are characterized with grotesque, stylization simplicity, surprising plot moves. The font cheers up and evokes positive emotions.

Stratham is vigorous sans-serif inspired by the slab serif Clarendon. It is a heavy display face, and has a tangible modern British feel to it. The italic is especially dynamic and forward moving. Stratham includes OpenType titling and swash alternates, old style figures and small caps. ITC Kristen is the work of American designer George Ryan. He describes it as not your average text or display font." Neue School is a modern sans serif font with extra tight tracking & deep ink traps. Designed to maximize the available space, make impactful headlines. This is the elaborate digital version of Edel Grotesque Bold Condensed (also known as Lessing, Reichgrotesk, and Wotan Bold Condensed) a 1914 typeface by Johannes Wagner, which was later adopted by pretty much every European type foundry, exported into the Americas, and used on war propaganda posters on either side of the Atlantic. Bold, condensed, yet clear and legible, Wagner Grotesk is good for cramming information into tight spaces. Extended language support includes Western, Central and Eastern European character sets, as well as Greek, Cyrillic, Baltic, Esperanto, Maltese, Turkish, and Celtic/Welsh languages. Biform letters and small caps make Wagner Grotesk a most versatile and functional headline face.

This font has been on my drawing board since the late eighties. It was based on drawings provided to me by an old sign-painter family friend and we used it extensively as a caps-only font in the early 90s on a cellphone ad campaign. It loves to be tight set and stacked and provides real grunt when you need it. Small caps have been added and have been weight and proportion adjusted so as to complement the caps. At Type Associates we believe that a font is not complete until the spacing is optimal. Carmel is another example of quality through extensive experience, testing, adjusting and refining.

Android is an experimental 3D shadow outline font developed by the American type designer Alex Kaczun. The unique lighting created by the beveled edge in combination with an outline font was particularly difficult to create. But the result was worth the effort. Android makes for a powerful headline display that virtually pops off the page. There is a true three dimensional quality to this innovative new typeface. Use the regular Android when setting tight leading for smaller point sizes, and use Android Tall which has taller capitals for larger headlines. Stubby Rough is a display type family with 4 styles, inspired by the vernacular landscape. It was made for titles, headlines and also packages, posters and everything that provide space for a rude, fat and widish type.
