During the early years of the 20th Century, America's fascination with automobiles was just beginning. The cover for a 1916 piece of sheet music for the comedy song "On the Old Back Seat of the Henry Ford" had the title hand lettered by a round nib pen in an Art Nouveau style. This is now available digitally as Running Board JNL.

Stibium is a mix between a garalde character and a transitional character. It is inspired by the humanist calligrahy of the Renaissance, the axis is oblique but with more compact proportions and pointed serifs inspired by the pen drawing. This work is inspired by creatures that I have drawn for my six year old boy. The monsters can be found at chrismetcalfe.com. I wanted to take their hair/fur and translate the fun attitude to type. To be honest I think this font is used best as display type. However the fun attitude lends to many usages without structure.

A light hearted comic and clumsy typestyle inspired by an old pulp novel called "The Astronaut". Several fun ornament characters can be accessed by turning on Discretionary alternates and typing "jones" for the Astronaut Head in an O, "atom" for a spirograph atom symbol, "little dipper" and "big dipper" for the constellations, as well as alternate "the", "and", and stacked "and the" characters.
