I've been in a vintage-meets-modern mood in my most recent font construction, and this is no exception. Whiskey Tango is a fun retro-style tall and narrow sans-serif font with a scoop of variety: it includes over 110 items in the Private Use Area, including small caps, alternates, ligatures, and ordinal indicators. There's just enough imbalance in stroke widths to make this font a little goofy and quirky, and really charming. All of the lines and curves are clean and sharp, making it great for text that's large, medium, or small. And it's great for crafting as well! As usual for me, this font contains over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, as well as full uppercase and lowercase sets of Greek and Cyrillic characters. And everything, as always, is fully PUA-encoded so all characters are easy to access, no matter what method you use.

Brazillian soccer legend Pelé played his final match, kicking for both the New York Cosmos and Santos of Brazil. And a soccerboy named Charlie was crowned with the nickname Chanky. In honor of his soccer hero Pelé, Charlie insisted the neighbor kids call him Chelé. They laughed at him and called him Chanky after Spanky from the Little Rascals. As he grew into his manhood, he became Chank the internationally renowned font designer. Chank created this font Soccerboy, as filtered through the artistic eyes of his 1977 childhood. It's a tri-line font, hand-drawn in Chank's signature cartoon whimsy. Soccerboy encourages play with color and alternate characters. Create coloring effects yourself using layers and the magic wand and paint bucket tools in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

It all started with the letter S. I drew it, I liked it, I based a font around it! This is Pickled Limes, a tall and narrow single-case font. It's built clean from the ground up, for ultra-sharp lines and corners, as well as super-smooth curves. Eksperiment is danish for experiment. Without much guessing or knowledge to danish, you probably already knew that! I like those danish words containing a "k" - is it because my name is spelled with a "k"? I don't know - maybe it's because it kind of represents the danish language, which is full of words with "k"s. Anyway, the reason for the name is that I wanted a font looking like it had gone through tough times, a bad copy machine and perhaps even crumpled paper...but the experiment is that the font is 100% made using digital media. I used my MacBook and my iPad creating this font. I find it quite amusing, that something 100% digital looks like something organic. I've added 5 different versions of each letter, which is really helpful when working with grunge fonts. It looks more natural, when the same letter rarely repeats itself.

This typeface came out as a side idea while I was working on one logotype. Suddenly I came up with an idea of creating “tuned” version of the typeface, based on that logo. The “tuning” turned me in a completely different direction and in a few hours of haste I was looking at a completely different typeface. A few days later I made this font available for free, since it wasn't meant to be at all :-). A few months later, I saw my typeface used in the menu in one pizzeria. I was amazed and glad and happy and proud, all at the same time. Oh, by the way: the logo I was working on was of different style and even of another stem’s widths. So, this is truly a font of it’s own design. Naftalin has both Latin and Cyrillic sets, since it was used with both.

Groovy started out as a prospective variant in the ‘Flashback’ series but very quickly established its own distinct appearance, especially with the lower case letters blending into the format so well. There wasn't any preconceived idea to design a retro looking font in principle, it simply evolved that way, but I do think it has several characteristics reminiscent of style genres from the '70s. It’s probably quite subliminal and like me, you may find yourself thinking, what does that remind me of? The double-entendre'd title is quite apt too, not merely for reasons of its outwardly retro appearance but also because of the considered, rounded elements forming the negative spaces throughout. Spy Royal is a junctionless script typeface and comes in 6 styles. It’s a hybrid between script and so called streamline fonts. The origins are based on an advertising by Japan Airlines, dated around 1954, offering flights to San Francisco, Honolulu and Okinawa in the new DC-6B “Pacific Courier” airplane. Only the letters for the words “JAPAN AIR LINES” were used, so that the creative part was to reimagine a full font out of just a handful of uppercase letters. Originally released in 2004, Spy Royal was now undergoing a major rework and is now republished with additional styles like shadow-lines and 3D-shadow. There's an appealing quirkiness about Amrys, which offers a confidently unusual alternative to more conventional designs. Clarks is a modular typeface built from a work by Lygia Clark, one of the giants of Brazilian postwar art. Packed in a font equipped with clever OpenType programming, there are at least 7 different designs for each letter, thus allowing, or rather, proposing, boldly unconventional compositions. The font is programmed to cycle all these different lettershapes, avoiding repetition. The user can also manually pick up preferred forms in a glyph palette. There are choices to both keep and to defy readability and it's almost hypnotic to play with these. Lygia Clark used to invite viewers to touch her works and so we did with her 'Planes in Modulated Surface no. 4', from 1957: we fragment it and turned and inverted and recombined it. All complicated shapes are cleaned and simplified with a bit elegance. Schuss™ Slab Pro is a slab serif, based on the Schuss™ Sans. Schuss™ News Pro is the modeled style between Schuss™ Slab Pro and Schuss™ Serif Pro. Schuss™ Serif Pro is the antiqua shape. Additionally all serifs are cleaned up. There is just one-side-serif in the "n" for example. Tab figures (except small caps), mathematical signs and currency symbols have a width system accross all styles and weights.

The Keiss type family is our interpretation of the popular nineteen century Scotch Roman typefaces. We intended to keep a very classic approach while introducing a couple of new elements that differentiate this type family from it’s ancestors. This design, with short descenders and ascenders, along with three very distinct optical sizes makes this type family well suited for contemporary newspapers. The Title and Big versions range from Thin to Heavy, with matching italics, in order to be used in big sizes and stand out in the design. The Text ranges from Thin to ExtraBold and is a standalone type family for text usage, with narrow proportions and wider and open italics for improved text setting. The Condensed versions, ranging from Thin to Bold, don’t have italics, although they can be matched with the italics of the Title and Big versions, due to the fact they are very condensed.

Once I found a pretty H letter initial on an ancient book. The letter was illuminated by beautiful engraved leaves. Based on it, I designed A-Z and 0-9 sets and assembled Medieval Leaves font. Medieval Leaves font family has Regular and Colored styles. It's all you need to precisely imitate medieval style text.
