Goudy Modern/Open was designed by Frederic Goudy, who was inspired by the caption of a French engraving. It is Goudy's first attempt at a "modern" face, but with less contrast and rigidity normally found in Bodoni style Modern faces. Goudy Modern was designed later in 1918 after viewing a proof of Goudy Open with the line filled in. Not a true modern face, but still a Goudy classic. The Pro versions include ligatures, varieties of numerals and Central European character sets.

The design for Granjon was produced at the English branch of Linotype under the direction of George William Jones and appeared in 1928. This reproduction of a Garamond typeface was based on the typeface sample of the Frankfurt font foundry Egenolff from the year 1592 . The roman characters of the sample were made by Claude Garamond and the italic forms were designed by Robert Granjon. Jones made sure that the Granjon font remained true to the original characters of Garamond and Granjon.

The wood has good quality, moderate durable, and easy to work. The Lenga fonts were inspired in the nobility, robustness and flexibility of those trees. It’s a common belief among designers that Didones don’t work for text. This wasn’t true in 1819 and it isn’t true today. Like its forbearers, Essonnes is a truly optical family—not just a study in adjusting contrast. The text and display weights have been designed from the ground up for their intended roles. This means that everything from the height of the uppercase & lowercase letters have been specifically tuned for their intended purpose. Like many typefaces, Essonnes started after falling in love with a piece of history. In this case, it was the eccentric forms of Pierre Didot’s Type and the evolution of the High contrast Didone throughout the 19th century. It was out of curiosity and love for these forms that led to the first draft of what would become Essonnes back in 2011. These unique situations—screens, modern printing methods, the previous 200 years of typographic innovation since the original design, my own life experiences—have led to a typeface that, while based on history, is not stuck in it.

This font was inspired by one of a standard French manual styles in use from the beginning of 1900s to the end of World War II, when people were writing most often with pen holders and metal nibs. This typeface is easily legible as it was used for the lithographic printing of university textbooks. All lower cases from a to z and numerals from 0 to 9 are doubled by a slightly different one to allow a varying manual aspect in texts. We have added a lot of diacritic characters, covering West (including Celtic) and North European, Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern European and Turkish language. A few special glyphs allows to make final loops or underlining.
