This is Avris, an exceptional and feminine stencil font. The base was designed in 2015. The word ‘avris’ derives from the latin rara avis, which means “rare bird”. Stencil fonts were initially designed for mass production and transportation companies. Unlike this one, Avris’ curvy and minimalistic design feels and looks like the wings of birds, flying above the quiet ocean. It also has a roman, calligraphic and cryptographic touch to it. Benton Modern was first prepared as a text face by Font Bureau for the Boston Globe and the Detroit Free Press. Design and proportions were taken from Morris Fuller Benton’s turn-of-the-century Century Expanded, drawn for ATF, faithfully reviving this epoch-making magazine and news text roman. The italic was based on Century Schoolbook. Aulas's design is inspired by an ancient Roman lettering. Catigan recreates classical attitudes by reflecting some of the attributes of transitional typefaces. Catigan does not, however, follow historical models. Catigan is warm with a very personal expression and also with excellent text qualities. The complementary Italic makes a distinctly calligraphic impression and stands in lively contrast to the roman weights.

This 1538 Schwabacher was based on a font used by Georg Rhau in Wittemberg (Germany) to print Des Babsts Hercules [...], a German pamphlet against roman catholicism written by Johannes Kymeus. The original font has a relatively complete set of characters including “long s”, but also the special german types like k, fl or ‰, ˆ, ¸.... A few omissions were remedied, and accented letters were added. A render sheet, enclosed with font files, help to identify them on keyboard. It can be used as web-site titles, posters and fliers, editing ancient texts, menus or greeting cards as a very decorative font... Although this font remains clear and easy to read from 8 or 9 points on screen, it is clearly designed for print works.

Fermata is an original calligraphic textface inspired by humanist serif typefaces from the 16th century, characterized by the translation contrast of a handwritten pen stroke, monumental Roman capitals, and true italics. Fermata has been modernized for 21st century textual requirements, with clean lines, moderated contrast, and a seamless blending of italics and lining characters into the text form, while still retaining the warmth and subtle idiosyncracies of the handwritten origins of old style serifs. Mediator is a balanced contemporary sans serif typeface that performs well both in display sizes and body text. The family contains 30 fonts in 3 widths: 8 romans with matching italics, of slightly extended proportions, from Thin to Black; 7 narrow and 7 condensed, from Thin to ExtraBold. The character set in normal upright faces was expanded to include small caps and all faces include old style figures. The typeface was designed by Manvel Shmavonyan with the participation of Alexander Lubovenko and released by ParaType in 2016.

Calima is a humanist sans serif typeface available in six weights. The idea behind this family was simply to try to bring the spontaneity of an italic to an upright roman typeface. The result is a fresh and dynamic sans with clean shapes, well suited for short texts and display use. Ultima Pro is a geometric sans serif typeface family of eight styles – light, regular, bold and black in roman and italic respectably. Ultima Pro typeface is an upgrade addition to Ultima family (2010). All glyphs have gone through shape refinements, and the amount of glyphs was significantly extended, which enabled support of more Latin languages as well as full support of Cyrillic. Fonts released in OpenType format with some opentype features. The typeface is ideal for use in display sizes though is quite legible in text.

Clean, elegant & flexible… Gerard Display is a beautiful rational typeface, a Scotch Roman dressed up as a high-contrasted Didot for this optical size. Its 6 weights and 6 widths made it adaptable and versatile with 36 fonts, from a solid “Compressed Regular” to a broader “ExtraExpanded Heavy” without losing a bit of grace. Gerard Display counts on an extended character set that covers a wide range of Latin languages and a lot of features (as stylistic sets, local forms, or a complete set of figures).

Hachura is a sketchy typeface designed by Ricardo Esteves. Its general proportions are based on the garalde models, with traditional roman serifs. It was initially made by hand using a drawing technique to create a font that simulates the unfinished aspect of a work in constant progress. This textured face is useful for display sizes, making a very visible presence. Because of its basic dimensions and careful distribution of black and white, it still also very readable in text sizes like 10 or 8 points.

The hand lettered title on the 1915 sheet music for “On the Banks of the Amazon” was the design model for Nouveau Spurred JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Two word examples (“nice” and “bud”) from the J.G. Cooley & Co.’s Specimens of Wood Type catalog for the typeface ‘Roman Triple Extra Condensed Fifty Line’ offered only seven letters to work with. Despite this lack of characters, it inspired Compressed Wood JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Capellina is a responsive type family comprised of four styles – two script fonts and two small caps romans – built to work together in typographic compositions intended to catch the eye. The fonts will work in your app as you can see in the presentation above. They can be seen as some kind of lettering machines programed to take advantage of swashes (specially at the beginning and and at the end of text lines) and to avoid stroke collisions. In the early 1960s, the German Master Printers’ Association requested that a new typeface be designed and produced in identical form on both Linotype and Monotype machines so that text and technical composition would match. Walter Cunz at Stempel responded by commissioning Jan Tschichold to design a new version of Claude Garamond’s serene and classical Roman. Its bold, and particularly its italic styles are limited by the requirements of Linotype casting machines, forcing the character widths of a given letter to match between styles, giving the italic its characteristic narrow f. The family’s name is taken from Jacques Sabon, who introduced Garamond’s Romans to Frankfurt. Sabon has long been a favorite of typographers for setting book text, due to its smooth texture, and in large part because Tschichold’s book typography remains world famous.

HaruNami (“spring wave”) fuses Japanese ornamentation with the Roman alphabet. All the motifs in the typeface are based on traditional Japanese wave ornamentation.
