In 1980, Peter Malutzki, Heidi Hübner-Prochotta and Manfred Prochotta founded the FlugBlatt-Presse and began producing broadsheets, which they called FlugBlätter and which also gave their press its name. They were mostly woodcuts or linocuts, combined with hand-set typography. When they finished the series in 1984 there were 67 FlugBlätter. During a Frankfurt Book Fair in the 1980s the collector Rob Saunders acquired FlugBlatt No. 37 along with other prints. Later they became part Letterform Archive, a non-profit museum and special collection library in San Francisco, which Rob Saunders founded in 2014. In 2021, Letterform Archive posted the FlugBlatt No. 37 on social media, where type designer Lena Schmidt saw it, immediately fell in love with it, and developed the plan to bring it into the digital world. After contacting Peter Malutzki – who is still working as a book artist today – and in close consultation with him, Schmidt translated the letterforms into a font series, Malutzki Initials. The three fonts can be used for black (single-color) text using the Regular style, or for multicolor text by applying different colors to the Letter Layer and Figure Layer styles.

Prop-a-ganda offers retro-flavored fonts inspired by lettering on retro propaganda posters, retro advertising posters, retro packages all the world over. This is perfect font for your retrospective project. PAG Revolucion has a boyish mood compared to other fonts of Prop-a-ganda series. It has short legs and large head, but because of its simplicity, it is legible font. Perfect for all of display. Tolyer font is an extra large super family of 50 fonts! In many cases quantity doesn’t mean quality but here we have such a big abundance of contrast, styles, weights and special effects in one place that it actually doesn’t pay attention to the fact this is an all caps family. When it comes to strong headlines, titles, posters, masculine brand names Tolyer type family is probably one of the best choices in sans serif typography. You could easily pick from low to high contrast outlines, uprights and obliques, 3D effects or different artistic textured styles to make your work diverse, expressive and attractive. Tolyer font offers you maximum readability even in poor display conditions like low quality printing or low resolution monitors. In some cases poor print quality could even add more value to the final result, because Tolyer has a lot of potential to be used in difficult conditions. Letterpress and high embossing are one of those print effects that really suit Tolyer best. Use it in high contrast with background environment, higher ink flow, don’t think about the dot gain and you should definitely use a textured paper – this is what Tolyer really likes and deserves. It will thank you for this with authentic look, classic vintage style and strong but attractive presence.

Bold, rounded and super cool. Those are the attributes of my latest font “Vinyle”, french for vinyl. In this epoque where all fields of Design are giving a lot of importance and attention to Typography and Lettering, I felt it was my duty to contribute with something that could really stand alone and ‘say something else’ that just words to be read. I've found that lately in the world, regarding a finished piece of design, the role of Typography (and of letters in general) went from being secondary, (like a minor player or a supporting actor) to the most important one. People are starting to understand the beauty of a well-done letter: they want their storefronts with unique scripts, they want to drink coffee surrounded by lettered blackboards, they want to buy books with astonishing covers with swashes ‘por doquier’. I'm more than happy to be alive in a present where even the most unimaginable friends of mine, (who couldn't spot differences between comic sans and helvetica before) are now conscious of the importance of a letter, or let’s say: Of the ‘voice’ of Typography. With Vinyle I tried to make a font with power. Following the nowadays trend of, let me say, “the vintage sans renaissance”. This time I put my brushes and nibs aside and experimented with something new. It wasn't easy, if you will pardon, for me to see swashes all over the place withouth the classic calligraphic ‘thick and thins’, but with after some weeks of work I started to love them. Like I already showed you in other creations (1) let me finish with the phrase: GEOMETRY IS SEXY! TIPS Vinyle has a lot of attitude, it shouts “here I am!” it really can ‘design an entire piece’ for you with just a word or two: It was designed with a 10 degree slant on purpose so the user may rotate it (like on the posters) that amount of degrees in order to see better results. Snippity Snap is a font made up of glyphs I cut out from black paper with some household scissors, then pasted onto white paper. When I was cutting out the shapes, my children asked me what I was doing, and when I told them, they thought it was pretty cool and started cutting out shapes from paper themselves. The result is a house filled with paper cuttings, which I keep finding everywhere - even in my bed. Snippity Snap is a very nice font for ads, book covers, packaging and children's books. Enjoy!

Gross Kunst is a humanist sans-serif with an open aperture, sharp outlines, and eye-catching details that make this full of character typeface very recognizable. The type family has three fonts based on wide pen strokes. Depending on its purpose the styles differ in expressiveness and the level of ornamentation. Regular style—low-contrast and neutral—is the most natural choice for body-text. The display face is more dynamic and gets higher contrast. It's very legible from a distance and would do its best on navigational and warning signage, plates, and such. Eloquent straight italics will adorn titles, announcements, and pages with ads. This typeface was acknowledged at the international type design competition Modern Cyrillic '99.

Hickory is the revival of an old unnamed font dating back to 1852 and was sold through a few different type foundries including Bruce, MacKellar Smiths & Jordan and James Conner's Sons. By the year 1900 this font disappeared from the major type foundries, now with the digital age of type we're proud to revive this old classic font that hasn't been used in over one hundred years. The original font was only available as an uppercase with punctuation and an ampersand. Today the character set has been updated to include a new lowercase, numbers and accented characters for Eastern, Central and Western European countries. Three fill fonts have been created for the Hickory font making it easier for you to add different colors, textures and patterns to the letters. You will need an application that works in layers such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator in order to use the fill fonts, some fill fonts may look good as a stand alone font, the Hickory fill fonts however do not look good used apart from the Hickory main font. I hope you enjoy this old font as much as I did making it.

Ador is a humanist sans serif especially designed for contemporary typography and comes up with 8 weights from ultralight to black plus true italics and 343 ligatures. A large x-height not only creates space in the letters for extra-bold styles, but also lends Ador an open and generous character in the more narrow and semi-bold versions. New Age Gothic is an original design by Alex Kaczun. It is a contemporary gothic design based on generous proportions and clean crisp lines. Ideally suited for easy reading and long lines of copy. The concept for the design came from a previously successful font family Contax Pro. Alex felt that the skeleton for Contax Pro was ideally suited to modify the design into a true gothic companion typeface series. Numerous modifications where made to the body proportions, stems and shapes. Serifs where added reminiscent to Copperplate Gothic to solidify the overall design. The result is a truly unique modern gothic font. Unlike other typefaces, New Age Gothic incorporates uniform stems throughout the capitals, lower case and figures. This gives the design a uniform appearance in overall color and strength. There is a perfect visual balance between inter-letter spacing, stem weights and proportions. The large Pro font character set, which supports most Central European and many Eastern European languages, also include small caps to compliment the old style figures. As a result, the design is ideally suited for display copy as well as text composition. In the near future, Alex plans to expand the typeface to include a broad range of weights along with italics.

Ammurapi was the last king of Ugarit, which was destroyed circa 1200 B.C. Back then all writing was done by hand and all that has been preserved is on clay tablets many of which were fired in the very destruction of the cities that enabled these documents to withstand the rvages of time. Ugarit unlike the other cuneiform scripts has a very limited number of glyphs. It is somehow exotically attractive. This font has been encoded in the appropriate unicode block to permit ease of use for scholarly purposes, but would also make a fine use as a decorative element.

Auto-scanning an example of a vintage typewriter font created the design which is now the digital typeface Bitmap Typewriter JNL, available in both regular and oblique versions.

Boleo is a typeface designed to work in short texts such as headlines, banners, logos, signs, packaging and posters. The Bing family is an experimental series of type designs inspired by classic movie marquees and contemporary fabricated signage. The Bing family consists of a multiple contour Inline, a single contour monoline Script derived from the Inline interior, and a single contour Black derived from the Inline exterior. All Bing fonts can be specified independently at medium and larger point sizes, or all three may complement one another as a type system.
