Here's another old-timer that needed a lowercase, so we drew one. Originally issued as a caps-only type by The American Type Founders Company about 1898, this font found its way into Craftsman period design. It was the inspiration for Galadriel, a dry transfer sheet alphabet.

No telling how old this font is, because it came from Hamilton, a firm that was late in the wood type business, but was the repository of many older patterns from earlier wood type makers. Great circus look to it. Some missing characters drawn at Solotype.

Township JNL is based on French Antique Condensed [a classic wood design] and is available in both regular and oblique versions. Reminiscent of Old West wanted posters and circus broadsides, this ultra-condensed typeface allows for more word copy to fit into a single line’s space.

OK Corral is a revival of a very old Italian font that you may have seen in the past under the original name of Italian Print. The Lined version of this font has never been known to have a lower case set of letters until now.

English designer David Quay created the Agincourt font in 1983. Port Vintage is a new typeface expanded upon the original Port typeface, released in 2013, and being an experimental Didone typeface with a modern twist, inspired by the well known forms of typography masters such as Bodoni and Didot and the exuberance and elegance of calligraphy typefaces. A lot of changes were made, the whole typeface is now softer and has less rough edges, the time it took to mature made it possible to achieve an entirelly new and distinct flavour from the original Port, giving away the rough edges from Port and giving place to the soft transitions and curved connections between the stems and serifs of Port Vintage. Port Vintage melts the straight lines and strong contrasts of the Didone typefaces with the elegant lines of calligraphy in a geometric way, resulting in exuberant characters with geometric swashes that can be combined in countless ways. Before the mid-to-late 1970s, when retailers started to embrace UPC (universal price code) technology on a grand scale, pricing merchandise took on many forms. One method especially popular with variety stores (such as Woolworth's, McCrory's, Kress, etc.) were pre-printed price tags that came in small pads and were inserted into metal holders. Shelf Tags JNL recreates a vintage price tag based on examples seen online, and allows the user different ways to create their own vintage-style price tags. You can either utilize the round pen nib style numbers and price marks to place on any size or type tag, or type out prices using the reversed characters (white on black) along with the two end caps provided to form a complete tag unit. For the more adventurous, a complete blank tag is also provided in case the desire is to print a solid color tag background and [using the regular numbers] crate prices in custom colors. Two sets of smaller number (for "floating" cents prices) are also provided in regular numbers and reverse panels. As an extra bonus, there is a set of 1 through zero, dollar sign, cents sign and decimal point individual black-on-white outlined panels for making individual pricing numbers. Type designer Xavier Dupré’s Garalda is a charming 21st century family that renews a legacy of finesse. As paragraphs on a page, Garalda’s overall impression is of a workaday personality, committed to the main purpose of the job: easy long-form reading. But setting it in display sizes proves something different: This reinvented Garamond is anything but basic. The Garalda story begins with the serendipitous finding of a book typeset in a rare Garalde, called Tory-Garamond, with which Dupré was not immediately familiar. This Garamond was used in bibliophile books in the decades surrounding 1920, but after that it became déclassé for an unknown reason. Dupré found the italic styles especially charming and discovered the family was probably the mythical Ollière Garamond cut from 1914. He obtained low resolution scans of the typeface and used them, rather than high resolution scans, as the basis for his new type family. This allowed Dupré the mental freedom to experiment and remix as he saw fit, culminating in a contemporary family with heritage. As seen in the simplistic rectangular serifs, Garalda is a humanist slab serif, but with a mix of angles and curves to give the classic shapes a fresh, unorthodox feeling. While almost invisible in paragraph text, these produce a graphic effect in display work. The set of ligatures in the roman and italics lend themselves to unique display use, such as creating lovely logotypes. In the italics, some swashes inspired by different historic Garamonds are included, sometimes breaking their curves to be more captivating. Just look at how the italic ‘*-s’ ligatures create ‘s’ with a cursive formation rather than merely a flowing slant. And how the roman ‘g’ link swings as wide as a trainer’s whip. These are all balanced by squared serifs in the roman to keep an overall mechanised regularity. The Garalda family comes in eight styles, includes some of the original arrows and ornaments, and speaks multiple languages for all typesetting needs, from pamphlets to fine book printing. The complete Garalda family, along with our entire catalogue, has been optimised for today’s varied screen uses.
